Great view and location. Property needs new pillows . The air conditioner was preset on a schedule and kept turning off which made it uncomfortable at the end of the day. Only had one cooking pan large enough for a party of 4 Only beach set up were 3 chairs and an ice chest

Great property, unit and view!

Honua Kai is the perfect property for a family vacation and this unit was wondering for our family of five (kids of all ages). The concierge booked all of our activities free org charge and their choices of outfitters did not disappoint! Maui Vacation Rentals (the VBRO rep for this unit) were super responsive and helpful with all of our questions - from check in, to splitting up the guest room king into two twins, to renting a crib for our toddler for the week. The experience was seamless and our stay was amazing! Our only tiny critique was that the unit’s kitchen lacked decent cooking knives and a cutting board which made some of our meal prep challenging. Otherwise we wouldn’t change a thing. Mahalo!

Great family friendly resort

We loved our stay at Honua Kai 649. The condo unit was well maintained, clean, and had everything we needed. Property management group (Maui Resort Rentals) was very responsive to all our inquiries! Honua Kai Resort is very family friendly, clean, and people following COVID guidelines. Restaurants were still at limited capacity, so finding tables to eat out during spring break was somewhat of a challenge, but thankfully Duke's restaurant on site did takeout and was very accomodating. We would definitely stay at this unit again!

A liitle too isolated for us and lots of noisy kids in pool all the time. Condo was very nice and being close to Dukes a plus. Will not stay there again

Property well kept. Water at the beach very rocky had to walk 20 minutes for good location. Unit 649 needs upgrading. Oven does not work very well, carpets need cleaning and stains on couches. Table on Lani needs to be replaced.

Great space and oh those sunsets

Sitting on the balcony was definitely a bit mesmerizing. Sitting by the pool or by the very nearby beach was also a joy. Yes, the wind is almost always present but you are in Hawaii and all is good. The unit worked out very well for our stay and we found it close to areas of the Island that we wanted to visit. Honestly the unit was more upscale than we are used to for vacationing so we definitely felt spoiled. Communication with the manager was excellent.

Amazing stay in Hokulani 649!

Wonderful stay, beautiful views of the pool and beach! Super clean and comfortable unit. Maui Rentals were fabulous, easy and clear communication, no issues at all- very good customer service. We loved that the unit had beach chairs, umbrella, and cooler to use ! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone considering!

A piece of paradise

This is not our first time at Honua Kai. But this is our first time renting through Maui Resort Rentals. I'm not going to give you a review of the resort because you probably already know how amazing it is. I will give a review of what it was like to rent through Maui Resort Rentals and the room itself. The pictures they provided for room 649 is exactly what you will see out of your lanai. Working with them was top notch. From the first payment to book the room all the way to checking out. Our guy Nick was always in touch to make sure things are well and to our expectations. He would either call or email to keep in touch. Checking in was a breeze. They are located right across the street from the resort, which was nice if anything would go wrong! They made checking out a breeze also by sending a clear email with simple instructions. It was also nice to be able to have a parking spot indoors. The place was very clean. Beds, including the room out bed were comfortable. Linens were clean. Bathrooms were clean. In the living room we were surprised to find a nice set of binoculars. You have to open the entertainment center drawers to find them. Don't be afraid to explore! I was pleasantly surprise to find tons of reading materials too. Updated books are nice to have instead of books from the 90s. They do have a DVD player in the room too which was nice. Kitchen was stocked well with plates, cups and pots and pans. There were a variety of appliances. Fridge, microwave and oven were clean. The fridge did have an ice maker which was convenient. This particular unit was not stocked with seasoning and spices so do be aware and purchase or bring your own from home. They also had a nice size pantry to store all the Costco purchase you will do! Laundry room is always nice to have there. They did supply detergent and fabric softener. One thing that is always a really nice treat is supplies for the beach. In the closet they had 4 beach chairs, a beach umbella, extra towels, play toys for kids to build and play in the sand, and snorkel gear. We always appreciate this when we stay at a resort. Bottom line Maui Resort Rentals were amazing to rent from. When we go back (and we will!) we will no doubt look for another place through them. Because of the hassle free rental through them we were able to relax and enjoy our vacation. Mahalo Nick for all your help.

Amazing location and resort

We will come back here 100%. Such an amazing property all the way from the location, the resort itself, the condo, how friendly the property owners were. We loved having breakfast every morning on the balcony using the kitchen to make something quick and easy. Loved how they have a washer/dryer. Also loved how a restaurant is right on site for days you just don't feel like getting in the car. Loved all the pools. I can't say enough good things. Can't wait to come back!!

Great place for small kids

As soon as we arrived we felt like we were on vacation. Honua Kai has all the resort amenities without all the hustle and bustle. We stayed here, the Grand Wailea and Aulani during our two week family vacation with a 2 and 4 year old. This was by far our favorite resort and our kids favorite too. It was nice they had several pools with shallow waters so both our kids could swim without floats. Everything is so close (beach, pools, restaurants) and we saw whales every day from our balcony and the beach. The other two resorts had longer walks to the beach and pools and more crowds and night life. Honua Kai was a true family vacation - very relaxing. Maui Resort Rentals were great to work with and very attentive. When we come back to Hawaii we will definitely stay here again.

Honua Kai, its just a great place to stay.

We have stayed at the Honua Kai resort several times now and enjoy the entire property. It is just far enough away from anything really busy, it has easy in and out access and a good flow to the entire resort. We will continue to stay there when we want that side of the island. However, there are a few things that could be addressed to make the stay a little nicer. There is a minimal amount of cooking pans, etc, there is not much in the way of condiments, and the outside doors need oil. They start to squeak as the day warms up but not a big deal. The elevators seem to be a big issue for everyone, they take to long getting to your floor. The big issue for us has been the water/sewer treatment plant, as you drive past and into the Honua Kai the smell drifts into the area and is very strong quite often. Once inside building you don't smell it but along the street, in the parking and the front entry it is very offensive. We have asked about this from others and we get the same answer that they are working on the plant to eliminate the odor, but for 3 years it has been the same. Still love the resort.
