Great location, excellent layout for 2 couples traveling together

They have 2 split bedrooms with King beds with ensuite bathrooms. It's the perfect layout for 2 couples traveling together. Location is very convenient to everything. Only thing is that if you request for anything you have to go through Maui rental resorts, they will then ask the concierge to bring you (for certain things only) and it may take a day or two for them to bring you the necessities if you need extras. You won't get extra towels than what's provided but there's a washer and dryer and laundry detergent available. They have Beach chairs and a large cooler you can bring to the beaches which is nice. We bought ice and placed in the cooler and it lasted pretty much 3 days for us. If you tend to bring things like your own shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body wash (because they only provide limited amounts) etc then you should have no complaints here

A true slice of paradise

We stayed in this condo for 10 days for my birthday and wedding anniversary February 2020. It was comfortable for the 6 of us, 4 adults/2kids. Being able to wake up, make coffee or purchase one at the shop downstairs, sit on the lanai watching the whales is priceless. The kids loved all the pools with easy beach access just beyond them was perfect. We really loved that there were beach chairs, umbrella, toys and a cooler provided with this rental, one less thing we had to think about buying or renting elsewhere. We would definitely recommend this rental property for families of 4 or 6. We requested a roll away, which was quite comfortable and easy to tuck out of the way. We did need to get a new coffee maker our first morning but it was delivered within hours to us along with a few extra blankets. The rental company also called me a few times to check in to make sure everything was up to our standards or if we needed anything else. I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend this property to family and friends.

Great Hybrid Option

If you are trying to decide between a resort and a VRBO, this is a great hybrid options. It has most of the amenities of a resort (and all the ones I care about like a spa, a gym, pools, super easy beach access, a poolside bar and restaurant) but you also have a full kitchen and washer drier. It was nice to be able to refresh laundry on the go (and dry bathing suits etc. faster for packing) and have a fridge for quick easy snacks/drinks. Check in was easy. Parking was convenient. We needed more tide pods for the washer and they were super responsive with that. [BTW construction mentioned in previous posts is complete, so that wasn't an issue.] Lots of kids around this complex, but it was a mix.

Beautiful Resort. Mostly Families

Condo was well appointed and quiet. View of ocean lovely. Rental company very responsive at all stages. Every pool and hot tub overflowing with children. Mostly large families. Needs a larger area and hot tub for adults only.

Wonderful time at Honua Kai

My family had a lovely trip to Honua Kai. This was our second time at the resort and the first time in this unit. The resort is well appointed, with several pools and nice amenities. Since our last trip 3 years ago, they’ve expanded their general store on site and it’s nice to have that available. The unit was a lovely 2 bedroom. I read reviews with concerns about the carpet and kitchen supplies. The property manager must have listened because the carpet was replaced with new flooring and the kitchen was well stocked. The construction noise wasn’t a big issue. Even during the day it was fine to sit in the balcony. It can get quite dusty though. Maui Resort Rental was good and easy to work with. We requested an extra bed, a blow up mattress and a wireless speaker, and they were all there when we arrived. I also appreciated that they supplied coffee and banana bread so we were ready for breakfast on the first morning! The reason for the 4 star review is poor experience during check in and with the bell staff. They helped us get all our stuff to the room, which is a nice service if it’s done right. They gave us someone else’s food, which caused all kinds of chaos. They also misplaced my son’s sand toys, which they never found and and didn’t seem too concerned about. They eventually made it right, but it took about 10 phone calls and in person visits. Not the way you want to spend vacation time. Overall, it’s a wonderful place and we had an awesome time. Highly recommend d.

Dirty carpets, worn-out and soiled furniture , out of date television.

Kitchen was marginally stocked. Virtually no bowls. TV so out of date Netflix or Prime were not accessible. Carpets so dirty your socks literally were soiled walking on them. Living room furniture old, tired and soiled. Hideabed was so bad it was unusable,forcing our adult son to sleep on the floor instead. As a couch it was very uncomfortable. The two living room chairs similarly not clean and terrible to use. This is a tired condo and not worth the money. Very disappointing.

Excellent place to stay with a family.

This was our first trip to Hawaii with our family (two adults and three school-aged children). This property absolutely exceeded our expectations. The unit was very well appointed and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided and nothing was difficult during our stay. The owners clearly have thought of everything. The wifi is fast and reliable, which was important with multiple devices going at times. Breakfast and morning coffee on the lanai was just like being in paradise. The views are spectacular and even with a bit of construction going on it didn't take away from the enjoyment. The resort is great and perfect for families with children. The beach is just a few steps away. There are a few different pool areas and cabanas for rent. The food and drinks served from Duke's was all very good. Everyone we encountered at the resort was friendly and eager to help us. I highly recommend this property and will return again. Thank you for making our stay in Maui so memorable!

Best trip ever!!

We would definitely come back to this resort and book the same room. They do an amazing job making you feel like on vacation. It was clean and had a beautiful view with huge wide open doors. There was construction outside our patio which wasn’t mentioned but we just positioned our chairs towards the ocean. The rental company was amazing! Great people making our trip amazing!

Great Maui Option

Check in was easy, Maui Resort Rentals in around the corner if you need anything and Nick was responsive and helpful with all questions. The resort was as advertised. Great rooms and kitchen, spacious bathrooms and well furnished. The pool was enjoyable and the property is located oceanfront will immediate access to the jogging trail for the 2 mile jog to waterfront Starbucks in the morning. Great way to start the day! We could not have asked for more. The facilities were perfect for our needs and Maui Resort Rentals was great to deal with. Thanks Nick!

Maui is awesome!

Honua Kai is a great resort. We walked the beach and stopped at some other resorts even past Blackrock and concluded this was the best place and would love to come back. Nick was super responsive at Maui Realty to anything we had that came up. Room was great and with a roll-away fit our family perfectly. Beach was nice and we snorkeled and swam right out front. Only negative that we ran into was the dryer not drying. It is what they called ventless which lead to very little actual drying going on - it would take hours to dry a load at best. That said, we hit to laundry-mat in Lahaina one night and problem solved.

Very family friendly resort and large, clean condo unit well stocked

We were very pleased with Honua Kai. It's an incredibly family friendly resort. Beautiful resort pools, great onsite restaurant (Dukes) and beautiful beach with calm waters. I liked our unit holukani 446. Its spacious and Maui Resort Rental does a great job stocking it. We had a complimentary crib, Vitamix, beach chairs, cooler, etc. The only slight complaint I have is that I would call this unit partial ocean view not full ocean view. You can see the ocean only from the lanai/balcony. I knew this from the photos, but worth noting. Other than that, the unit was great (though carpet could use a good shampooing, as to be expected.) We'll definitely return to Honua Kai and happily rent with Maui Resort Rentals again (though I would try to negotiate down the $300 cleaning fee, seems excessive) and certainly be open to staying at this unit again (assuming we won't want to pay the premium for a real ocean view from the bedroom!)
