Absolutely amazing stay! Maui Resort Rentals was on top of everything; provided us with a pack and play, high chair, extra blankets and towels and were readily accessible by text for any and all questions! HIGHLY recommend for an incredible Maui experience

Honua Kai is a very nice, family resort

We enjoyed our stay. A little problem with checking bec the code didn’t work, but that was quickly fixed. Honua Kai is a very busy family resort, so can be a little crowded and a little noisy. We got bumped to another unit because locals displaced by fire were in the unit we reserved. The bottom floor unit we got was spotless and everything in pristine condition. You should know the the dryer takes a very long time, evidently bec there is not the usual dryer ventilation for the resort.

Wonderful!

This place was amazing, comfy beds, beautiful furniture and a great view! Only thing I would complain about is the dryer isn’t great and the settings are confusing, other than that it was a great place, will definitely stay here again if we visit Maui Lahaina :) and also the communication on Vrbo wasn’t great, so I had to call the actual Maui rentals but that is a seldom thing. They provided a pack n play and highchair for my little one which was great:)

Beautiful stay in 2 bedroom unit

Very comfortable unit for our family of 5 The view from the lanai was amazing, great for whale watching. I love that the lanai is in the shade during warm part of day. The beach chairs in unit available to use were a great added bonus. We enjoyed the pools, and bbq area of resort. Nice to be able to walk to Whaler’s village. Resort says to not save pool chairs by laying down towels early in day but this is not regulated, which was my only source of frustration on occasion. Chairs sometimes not available because held by people not there. This is a resort issue but perhaps rental company can give feedback to resort to sort this out better. I would definitely stay in this exact unit again.

Great stay!

We had a wonderful time. Location is perfect. Solid snorkeling right off hotel beach. 10 mins to lahaina. Easy check in, great room. Could see whales from our balcony. Staff response time was great!

Nice place for a family

Easy check in and clear communications with the ownership team were much appreciated. Great place for your little ones to enjoy the pools. Our 4 year old granddaughter had a blast. Not the best beach for swimming, too many big rocks but better ones not that far away by car. The unit itself was well laid out with lots of space and a nice sized deck to watch the pools or the whales just offshore. We put the included Snorkelling gear and portable Beach chairs to good use. The underground parking was easy to access and we always got a spot close to the elevator. I thought the unit was well equipped in terms of essentials, toilet paper, laundry supplies, Kleenex etc. On the downside the lack of storage bowls made saving leftovers a challenge, the living area furniture was well worn, the deck chairs were plentiful but didn’t have cushions and the hot water tank was too small for the five of us. Had fun with our family and that’s what it is all about.

Maui Paradise

Love the location, right on the beach in Kaanapali. Views from the large balcony are amazing. Opened the huge sliding doors every day to enjoy the sea breeze. Ate our meals on the balcony with an amazing view and skipped the lines and hassles of restaurants. Pool was great, towel service top notch, amazing beach access right on property. This is a pricy stay, but it is a top-notch property and apartment. Rent this for something special.

Lovely Stay

Our condo was beautiful and very comfortable. The bathrooms were well appointed and having one for each bedroom was wonderful. They gave us a late checkout which was extremely helpful. And the views! Gorgeous!

Excellent. Would Stay Here Again.

Love this property. Four pools, hot tubs, and right on the beach. Good snorkeling right on the beach, or walk about half a mile for great snorkeling (we rented our equipment nearby at The Snorkel Store). Property management was very responsive. Check in and check out a breeze. About a 10 minute drive to nearby town of Lahaina. Pools close at 10:00 pm then property is quiet. Patio has a great view and nice breeze. Just note that there were lots of families with very young children when we were there in July. So it can be a little bit loud and splashy by the pool and beach. Some people might not be looking for that experience.

Awesome location

Awesome spot, wish we were still there! Too many good things to say but here are a few items that I don’t think I saw in other reviews. This location has a balcony that has (1) incredible views of the sunset while being able to listen to the live music at Duke’s down below. (2) location is just around the corner from an elevator (on beach side of resort) so you can easily go to/from the pool and underground parking garage. Main elevators are on the lobby side, which is a longer walk. (3) Room had 5 chairs and an umbrella which was great for going to the beach. Will definitely be back!

Nice place

We have stayed at property 3 times. This was the best so far. Great layout and view. Good utensils in kitchen and sand chairs. We were told we couldn’t check in until 5 pm but probably would get in earlier. It didn’t happen until 5 pm which was a problem with a tired 3 year old who needed a nap after flight. That’s the only downside of the visit.

Perfect!

I LOVED this room. It was breathtaking! So clean and perfectly appointed. Our only complaint was the check-in. They don't treat you very nicely if you are a VRBO rental guest and send you outside to the bell desk to check-in. But, fine by me as the price and the stay was WONDERFUL and absolutely worth the rebuff. Pictures are perfectly accurate and the room has EVERYTHING you need. Will definitely stay here again.

Amazing resort and perfect unit!!

Weve been going to Maui for 20 years and this was our first stay @ Honua Kai. We loved absolutely loved everything about this resort and this particular unit! The views are even better than they appear on the listing. Everything was clean, comfortable and beautiful. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again. Great place for families

We loved the pools and hot tubs, it was especially nice to have shallow baby pools next to the main pools and hot tubs next to all of them too. The kids got bored quickly with the slide however, so don't expect much excitement from it. The beach also was a bit of a disappointment as the kids couldn't really swim there. There are too many rocks and everyone cut their feet. If you just want to sit on the sand it's fine though. The room itself was beautiful as was the view! We loved the extra space and being able to make our own meals saved money. The balcony was also great as it opens entirely and becomes part of the room, we ate out there nearly every time. I would definitely go through Maui Resort Rentals, not the hotel itself, as they gave us lots of extra things and help such as a pack and play, high chair, and sand toys. The system with the wristbands to get in and out of your room is nice and helps with older kids having more freedom. Another downfall to the resort though is parking, if you get in late you will not find any parking in the garage. The elevator can be a bit slow and there's no nearby stairs to take instead that I saw anyway. Overall it was a great room and resort and we would stay again, just go somewhere else for playing in the ocean.

Hokulani Tower 505

This was our 4th stay at Honua Kai and our 1st time in this particular unit. The unit was very clean. Check in was very easy. I will say that I think it is about time to replace the carpet in the unit. It is starting to show wear. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper, paper towels, etc...for our week long stay. My biggest complaint is not with the unit itself, but with the parking at Honua Kai. They have taken more than half of the parking lot for valet parking, leaving only about 30 spots for self parking. Every day when you come back and want to self park above ground, there are no spots available, however there are 3/4 of the valet spots available. The parking garage was no better. Rarely found a spot in there either and it was almost impossible to get the Suburban we rented in to half of the open spots. Valet parking in $5, but they do not have valet throughout the night and if you need to leave condo during the "off" hours, security has to get your car and that can take a while. We were doing the Haleakala sunrise tour and several other things that required us to leave hotel by 530am and were told by valet that it would be better for us to self park. My suggestion is that they give up some of the valet spots since so many of those spots are not being utilized. From talking to others around the hotel, this was a little bit of a sore spot and could actually be a deal breaker for us if it doesn't get fixed. Maui Resort Rentals on the other hand were wonderful in taking care of our needs. Thanks so much for a great week.
