The hotel check in was a nightmare, took over an hour of faffing about. Before I say why, I would note that the 3 desk staff tried their best but are completely powerless due to the draconian, controlling senior management insistence that international payments are not taken by credit card. I am from the UK, I had originally booked with another well known hotel booking company but had to cancel due to the hotel not being able to process an overseas Mastercard credit card. Nowhere on the booking company website or even the official website of Msquare does it state they do not accept an international payment. I offered to pay cash at the rate I was quoted on the hotel booking site, they refused saying I had to pay full rate, I wanted to pay via Msquare website but again told to pay full rate. I get a frequent stayer discount with websites and was not about to pay 40,000 naira more than quoted
I was told by a Nigerian guest that the Msquare management would have deducted the difference from the staff salary should I have insisted I pay cash at the rate quoted
I had an early checkout. my rate quoted included breakfast, I noted this on my booking. I was told someone would make me an omelette to eat before I left. I didn't receive my breakfast because the staff were still asleep. The barman was rude and dismissive as they come. Because there was no readable menu, he tried a belittling tactic when I asked of the price of food and drinks saying this is GRP not VI. I could go on...
