Beautiful mountain valley cabin
Modern cabin by the river had all the conveniences of home. Viewed and heard the river from the deck of the cabin. Quiet neighborhood.

Retreat by the river
We had a wonderful time. In the river by the house we saw fish in the evening. Deer passed through the open space beside the house one morning. The stars were amazing! Great place for a weekend getaway.

Peaceful!
The house is located in a very quiet area a few miles south of Cuchara itself and neighbors are not too close by so plenty of privacy is offered. The river flows just behind the house and the water flowing is so relaxing. Jen was very easy to work with and we really appreciated the advance notice from her regarding mowers coming one day during our stay. One note: If steps are a problem for you, this may not be a perfect rental for you. There are steps up to the front door and 15 steps (but who's counting) to the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. The surrounding countryside especially south of the cabin is absolutely beautiful! I think we explored it all, including the Picketwire Store near Weston a couple times for good ice cream and a bumpy drive over Cordova Pass from Cuchara Pass to Aguilar for our ride home. Fun!! We would definitely go back one day.

Absolutely Wonderful
What a gem of a cabin! We slept so well hearing the sound from the river! It’s a great place to relax, catch up on your reading and look at the stars. I would highly recommend it!

Second time and it’s great.
My son and father in law have stayed here two years in a row. It’s perfect for our needs. Great location outside of Cuchara and right on a beautiful, rushing stream. 15 minutes or so to North Lake or LaVeta.

Peaceful Long Weekend
The property is at a beautiful location right on the creek. The house is cozy. We went up during the winter. The property is very close to Cuchara Mountain Park. We went there and did some cross/country skiing. Not much going on around the area in the winter, but a great place to get away for some peace and quiet.

Cool summer retreat
Escaping the heat of this summer to the serenity and weather of this mountain cabin was very relaxing and enjoyable. The stairs to the bedrooms upstairs challenged the heart and lungs of someone unaccustomed to the elevation, but at 76 I was able to manage. Jen sent all information I requested.

On The River Seclusion
The house is everything it is claimed to be. It has a feel that the owner was just there, but will be back soon. My first time to Cuchara was just over 30 years ago, when there was a camp ground just south of the house between Ruby Lane and the road that heads up to Cucharas Pass. It is good to see that the area is being built up and houses are being built. This house has surrounding neighbors, but the trees have been preserved as well as could be and you feel like you’re isolated from your neighbors. I am glad that I found this place and I will be coming back again soon..

Beautiful Views on the river!
Nice cabin. It had everything we needed. Loved the river behind the cabin and being able to sit with my coffee on the Adirondack chairs right next to the river or on the deck. The mountains and storms did tend to be a nuisance where internet is concerned however that is part of the beauty! We had a wonderful time.

Nice place; but...
Key code not sent, had to make a call in an area with poor cell service. Some lights did not work and bulbs need to be replaced. other than that we love the area and it's a nice modern cabin. Thanks for a good VRBO

Long weekend get away, couldn’t have asked for anything better!
Met family in Cuchara, the perfect halfway point between Albuquerque and Northern Colorado. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed, the surroundings were amazing, and we saw a ton of wildlife. Will be back again, would highly recommend!

Amazing
Hailed and snowed first 2 days. I'm from Houston so don't get to experience that much and it was pretty neat. Beautiful river and landscape. Very relaxing. Definitely will stay here again if able.

The place was clean and nice. The views and location were great. The internet was horrible and cell phone service was non-existant unless you walked up the hill. The broiler on the oven did not work and the toaster only one side toasted.

Beautiful Area
Very clean. Great location. Advertised as having WiFi...not so!!! Horrible connection!!! Advertised as 3 bedrooms...not so...one is a couch. Bathrooms not in convenient places. This pretty cabin is not suitable for older people.

We loved it.
Property was in a great location. It was close to 4 lakes, 2 smaller ones and 2 larger ones. There was very little light pollution so the stars were supper bright at night. The house is clean and kitchen had everything I needed. The house had everything we needed, although cell coverage was no existent. Wifi works pretty well but take DVDs with you.

Great Cabin! Beautiful views!!!
Loved this cabin! It’s was extremely clean! I stay in vacation rentals often and this was the cleanest! The scenery was unbelievable! The river is right out the back door! We slept with the windows open and listened to the water run while we slept! Perfect relaxing get alway! Also did a lot of fishing in several near by lakes!

Relaxing Escape
This cabin was just what we needed to refresh, unplug, and enjoy a change of scenery during all this pandemic madness. We slept like babies listening to the calm roll of the river. Such a nice place. We will definitely stay here again!

Sweet Riverfront
We enjoyed our week here. Centrally located for our daily hikes. Sleeping to the sound of the river and relaxing on the deck were especially nice. Although there are two bedrooms downstairs living space is a bit tight for 4 adults unless you are really good friends or family. Stairs are steep if you have any disability. And you need to be bear aware in this neighborhood.

Great cabin
We had a wonderful stay at the cozy cabin. The internet was a touch slow but telivision and phones worked most times. Beautiful area in the winter. Would highly recommend this to my friends.

Perfect place
The cabin was great, easy to get to and not too far from surrounding towns. Cuchara had received an early snow, so being from Texas that was an awesome sight. We hope to return in the spring.

Just perfect
We had a perfect weekend in Cuchara. We loved the area from traveling through several times in the past and wanted to spend a little more time there getting to know more about it. Our cabin was absolutely perfect. Spotlessly clean, equipped with everything we expected and more. I slept each night with the window open to listen to the river.....heaven! And those STARS! No trouble at all with anything, cant wait to go back!

This is a beautiful property and everthing was exactly as advertised. We are retired and already live in the country, but this place is indeed a get away. We have camped at Cucharas years ago and always wanted to return and now we plan on returning annually. If available, we will always try to book the River Retreat. Clem and Candy

Cabin in Mountains
Very cosey tv room. Setup laptop and watched TV. Every couch I sat on was relaxing. Master bed very comfortable. No problems sleeping. River was very relaxing and stars at night were amazing. Quiet and refreshing. Hiking trails nearby.

Great cabin!!
We loved the cabin and will use it next time we’re in Cuchara. We loved having the windows open listening to the river, no better way to fall asleep! It’s close to blue and bear Lake for hiking and fishing. Afterwards head to downtown Cuchara for drinks and snacks at the Dog Bar! Thank you Jen for being great and making the whole check in/out process simple!

Loved the Sound of the River!
We had a great, quick weekend to these beautiful mountains! The little town of Cuchara is just around the bend from this peaceful neighborhood. We fished at Blue and Bear Lakes, which is about a 20 minute drive up the majestic mountains. We all caught fish, which was so fun! The cabin was perfect for our party of 4. The bedrooms are upstairs, but so lovely and comfortable. The grill is charcoal, so be prepared! We would definitely come back! Thank you, Jen, for all your communications.
