The Caravelle peninsula, classified as a nature reserve, is a unique place in Martinique. It reveals a range of typical landscapes that slope down to the sea and a breathtaking view. The bay of Tartane, very sunny, is well ventilated, and the sea is extremely calm. We are located in the middle of the bay, facing the pass that leads out to sea. From the house, you can...
Kayak or paddle in the calm waters of the lagoon to the Brèche beach.
Swim on the large beach located 100m away following the coastline.
Hike to the Pointe Rouge and its wild beaches, Spoutourne and the Caravelle.
Surf on THE Martinique spot in Anse Bonneville (board rental possible on site).
Discover Tartane, a fishing village and seaside resort where life is good far from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
Visit the old Hardy rum factory, the ruins of the Dubuc castle, the mangrove swamp and swim in the treasure bay.
Or enjoy the view of the ocean up close, hanging in your hammock, lulled by the trade winds while admiring the hunts of frigatebirds and cormorants...
As soon as your reservation has been validated, we will send you, by email, the welcome guide with information about the house, its facilities and the leisure activities around.
To reconnect with the rhythm of the ocean and the tropics, you have to accept and change your landmarks and urban habits. Depending on the season, algae wash up on the beach. Only the sargassum is collected, the others have no smell. They are left behind and are used to fight against erosion. By mixing with the sand, they reinforce the coastline and prevent it from retreating. This is also global warming.
The grocery store of the Vito resort is 250m away, the bakery 800m on the seafront, several supermarkets and a shopping mall are accessible less than 10km away. You will find many restaurants in Tartane. Including Suzy just behind who prepares excellent Creole cuisine. Right next to the house, the fishermen who make their traps during the day, will be your closest neighbors.
SARGASSUM: All the Caribbean islands and the American coasts are exposed to the strandings of these schools of algae that proliferate on the surface off Brazil. Once stranded, they decompose, giving off a foul smell (H2S).
In Tartane, we are a little less impacted because the bay is oriented to the north-east and the city of Trinité organizes the collection within a few days.
In the event of massive sargassum strandings, we will inform you thanks to the 2 webcams that constantly monitor the coastline. METEO France Martinique publishes a weekly bulletin on the risks of strandings.
