Wonderful Week

Jennifer, our host was one reason for the excellent rating. She was responsive and always available to answer questions and respond to our questions and requests. She always responded the same day and often within minutes. The house fit our needs in every way. Large rooms for our family of nine, great swimming pool and hot tub and while it is an older home (built in the 60's) the design of the home was very comfortable. The only reason for the four score instead of a five was we had a few problems with the windows not opening and closing and one of the path tubs not draining. Yet, Jennifer had all the problems fixed prior to our departure. It would have been better to not have the problems. I recommend this home and location. I would book it again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sunset Cottage! Built in 1954, it is a true mid century modern gem, harkening back to a time where these houses were common in La Jolla. The teak paneling, ceilings, and fireplace in the living and dining room is stunning! The house is very roomy and comfortable throughout. The pool area and the pool itself are large and inviting ( to hot tub was a hit with our older children!). We had the optional screen placed around the pool and it really gave us peace of mind with our grand daughter about. The kitchen is well stocked with plates , glasses , etc. It has the original pine cabinetry which we loved! The bathrooms are well stocked with towels and the bedrooms well appointed and super comfortable. Our hostess Jennifer was super helpful throughout our stay and check in and out was easy. Finally - THE VIEW!! Totally spectacular from the living room, dining room, and front yard. We spent hours looking out at the Pacific and the sunsets. Absolutely priceless!We’ve been coming to La Jolla since the ‘80’s and in all that time we haven’t stayed in a place that has it all like Sunset Cottage. We will definitely be coming back , hopefully for many years to come!

Gorgeous Views with Amazing 70s Beach Bungalow Vibe

We absolutely loved our stay here. The views from here are breathtaking with magical sunsets. It's just a short stroll down to the beach. The home was so full of vintage SoCal charm. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return.

Can’t wait to go back!

My family- aged 70 to 20 months —stayed for a fabulous week at this amazing house. Everything was wonderful from the communication from Jennifer toCheck-in, The location - with an easy and quick walk to the water—to The house itself! Beautiful 1950’s style rambler, which made it easy for the baby to navigate. The house is also Much bigger than the pics show ! The pool and hot tub were a definite plus! And did I recommend Jennifer? We had to call her as we were getting ready to leave for the airport bc my grandson accidentally locked his parents out of their bedroom-/ with everything inside! She called a locksmith who came in 20 minutes and saved the day! I can’t say enough about this house and cannot wait to return!

Amazing Property, Location, and Views

Had a great stay. The house is spacious, with great views, wonderful pool/hot tub, and a short walk down to the beach, playground, or around the corner tk the aquarium. Host was very responsive and helpful.

Christmas with family

This was an excellent property to celebrate Christmas with our family in San Diego. The views were fantastic, even better than the pictures and it was only a few blocks to the beach.Jennifer was an excellent host and very responsive anytime I reached out to her.The beds were very comfortable and every bedroom had its own bathroom which was convenient. All the rooms were good size and the furniture was very cozy. We didn’t use the pool but hope to on future visits.I can’t recommend this property enough. We hope to stay there again.

Healing Trip

This is exactly what my family needed. It is a great house. Charming MCM, everything that comes with that. The location is ideal, easy to get at areas north and south. My almost 3yr old granddaughter cried when we got off the plane, she realized when went going back to the house.

An absolute gem!!

This was the perfect property for a family vacation with two little ones. The owners were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. The fence around the pool was a huge help in keeping our little ones safe when we weren't swimming but wanted to be outside. Gorgeous backyard. The house only has AC in the rooms but the windows open kept a beautiful breeze going throughout the house and it stayed comfortable. The location was perfect. walkable to the beach, coffee shops, restaurants and a playground. Would Highly recommend to anyone!

La Jolla Delight

My family was delighted with our stay at this house. The views from the living room and master bedroom are magnificent, and the pool/hot tub were great. Even though there was a problem with the air conditioning, Jennifer was very responsive and worked to get it fixed in short order.

Spring Break Trip

We had a wonderful stay! Jennifer was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The house was wonderful for two families with children aged 9-13. Would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a house in La Jolla.

Great location

Great location walkable to the beach. Very close to the aquarium, UCSD, restaurants, shops and the grocery. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom which is very nice. Kitchen and bathrooms are not in photos and are original but worked well and not an issue for our stay. Recommend heating the pool/hot tub in cooler months. Beach towels and cart provided by hosts. Recommend renting wet suits for surfing.

Perfect La Jolla Shores stay

Jennifer's house is perfect for a family get-together. Very well equipped, fabulous views/sunsets. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. Easy access to beach for walks, wildlife, kayaking etc. Everything San Diego has to offer within half an hour or so in a car. The perfect base for a memorable holiday. Would love to go again.

Fantastic find!

We had a wonderful week of family reunion with this as our home base. Seven adults and one infant had plenty of space. People enjoyed the comfortable living areas with views of the ocean and La Jolla, the private pool and hot tub, and the plentiful outdoor patio seating. The kitchen was well-stocked so we could cook and eat in. Pool toys were also provided, and plenty of bedding and towels. Jennifer was a great hostess, always communicating quickly and helpfully. We're so grateful that we were able to stay at this home!

Incredible views, perfect family vacation spot

This place was truly special. We got our family together here to celebrate my moms 60th and everyone was just so happy with the views, the amazing pool and hot tub, the spaciousness, all of the little kid friendly amenities. The hostess was a pleasure to communicate with. We did have a couple of things break and she had someone out by the next day to repair them. The house is really cool and retro, but super clean and nice. It’s a quiet cup-de-sec and a walk from the beach. Easy drive from airport, to zoos and right by the aquarium. We were afraid the pool would be too cold, but it was perfect and the fence around the pool was amazing since we had little ones and idk what we would have done without it. The pool house was filled with floats and chairs and a wagon, they had everything we could need, all you need to do is do a grocery store run and you’re set for the week. I wish we could have stayed longer. Watching the sun set over the ocean from the front yard every night was my favorite part of our vacation.

Great location with plenty of space for all!

Perfect size, amenity fit and location for a family vacation for nephew's graduation. Pool, hot tub, close to the beach and everything you'll need for your stay. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
