Perfect setting with everything you could possibly think of available in the kitchen and throughout the house. Great location on the edge of the preserve, Great Horned Owl visit every evening!Unique property with a impeccably preserved retro design. Lovely welcoming hosts.

The property was charming and as described. We loved the location and the privacy. Trish and Justin were both friendly and responsive to our questions. The attention to detail was impressive - kitchen was well-appointed, firewood was provided, there were plenty of towels, pillows, toilet paper, and drinks and snacks awaited us. There was nothing that we needed that we couldn't find.

Super quiet, well appointed with luxury details, but still rustic & cozy and only a short walk from the beach. We really enjoyed our short stay in La Jolla and look forward to returning to the area again soon!

A Slice of Paradise

I have to say: writing this review is difficult -- because I don't want everyone else to know about this place. My wife and I booked our stay to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and we couldn't have picked a more amazing house with fantastic hosts in a beautiful city. Everything about our stay was perfect: from the amazingly beautiful grounds to the cozy nature of the house. Having the kitchen was fantastic and that add in a beautiful outdoor patio and grill with hot tub -- eating in was almost better than eating out in La Jolla. The property feels so secluded: at night it is peaceful and quite -- except for the owl who kept us company at night and he was most welcome. And while the house is tucked away it was very easy to access all La Jolla had to offer from beaches to museums to restaurants. And our hosts provided everything: beach chairs and umbrellas and also bikes to not only explore the nearby trail but get around town if we wanted. We enjoyed our stay so much -- it was difficult to leave. We are very excited to return.

A Rare Find

Beautiful little 1 bedroom quaint cottage nestled in the woods. Quiet location in LaJolla close to Windansea beach and right along the local bike path. Private backyard outdoor dining with hot tub and small seating area with bench to view sunsets. The owner and her son are very nice, keep to themselves but are very attentive when needed. Loved it!

Great Stay!

Great place to stay! Loved the cottage, quiet location, and peaceful patio out back! It’s an easy walk to the beach or the village. Everything needed was provided. Definitely would recommend!

An interesting property in a lovely setting

My wife and I were celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary, so booked this property to give us a good base of exploring the city of La Jolla. We live in LA, but had never visited the city. The property was close to a beach with rocky shores and beautiful views. Our stay was marred somewhat by a loud, squabbling couple next door, and next door was VERY close. The hot tub was nice but closer to the angry duo. All communications with the owners were excellent. The house is multi-level, and rather smaller than the photos suggest. Also, it is older, vintage 1945, with all that that date may imply. We in the main liked it a good deal, and as a LA Jolla base it may be very good.

Jewel in the hills

This was a true find. We loved how it nestled into the hill and provided a green oasis while we explored the ocean and La Jolla. Very easy to walk to many things. Would have loved the bikes - but it rained when we had time for them. Thanks!

The perfect getaway

As many of the reviews mention - the pictures do not do this property justice. It is the most peaceful and relaxing property I have been a guest at. Absolutely beautiful. We loved being able to enjoy a cup of coffee on the terrace and a glass of wine by the fireplace. Trish and Justin were fabulous hosts. We cannot wait to get back here!

Peaceful location

Late February stay

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Windnsea Bungalow. As others have mentioned, the place is even nicer than shown in the photos. The lush landscaping is gorgeous, and the outside seating areas are well planned and executed. The bed and furniture are super comfy; we even made good use of the fireplace. Trish, Justin and their dog Daisy are fabulous hosts. They think of everything. The binder in the bungalow is full of useful and interesting information. It was such a pleasure to stay with them and hope to have an opportunity to visit again.

Wonderful

This place is so dreamy and relaxing — it’s our favorite place we’ve ever stayed. Loved the fireplace and hot tub, as well as cooking in the kitchen. There was some rain during our visit to La Jolla which made our stay here feel extra cozy, but we were able to take the bikes out during a break in the rain which was an incredible way to explore the area. Trish and Justin are A+ hosts — super kind and responsive. Don’t pass up an opportunity to stay here! We hope to come back soon.

THE BEST STAY IN LA JOLLA

Wind and Sea Gem

This property has so much charm and character! I especially enjoyed the private patio; it was a terrific spot to spend time outdoors in the perfect SoCal weather. Kitchen was great; very well equipped. The hosts are super nice, and the location is fabulous.

A wonderful family vacation

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home! Trish and Justin were very hospitable. The property was amazing, with tons of windows and natural light. There was enough space both inside and outside the property for all to feel comfortable. The location is close to many beaches, shopping and restaurants, as well as markets, if we wanted to stay in and cook. My husband enjoyed the jacuzzi every night. The property comes with two bikes and we used them frequently throughout our stay. We hope to return!!!
