We had a lovely weeks stay in Hobogite. The place was clean, cute and comfortable. I cooked alot during our stay as digestive illness and intolerance makes eating out tricky, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We had beautiful October sunshine most days, with some cold nights and mornings. We appreciated the welcome pack, the garden space, the many birds including green woodpeckers, the red squirrels, the wonderful stars, the olive tree, the lovely old stonework, the peaceful location and the proximity to Ruffec for easy supermarket shopping. An enjoyable week staying here.

We were very happy with our stay at Hobogite. Lots of thoughtful care from our hosts Rob & Lene to provide everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Much appreciated!! It was extremely peaceful and the garden & grounds were gorgeous. We have booked again for next year which I think says it all. If I might be permitted to make a couple of small constructive criticisms. The key press was awkward to use, especially in the dark. We had eight or nine days of rain & therefore spent more time inside than we would have liked. The sofa wasn't the most comfortable, but it was OK. Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing time. The pool was lovely and although we were only able to use a couple of times due to weather, hopefully next year we'll spend more time down there. Rob and Lene, in lots of little ways, show how they genuinely care about the comfort of their guests & that they enjoy their stay. Who can ask for more?

We had a relaxing week at Hobogite it’s perfect for a couple, and within easy access for everything you may need during your stay. The pool is lovely although the weather wasn’t always on our side! The welcome pack was a great extra and much appreciated.We had a couple of problems during our stay. One being the floor in the bathroom which was reported to Bill the handyman, and also the bedroom door which is difficult to close properly and can stick which I found out twice when I locked myself in!

A lovely peaceful area but within 6 minutes drive of Ruffec for plenty of amenities incl. 2 large supermarkets and a new Lidl. Preferrred restaurants were outside Ruffec but only a 20 minute drive. Property had a few niggles which didn’t detract from a very enjoyable 1 week stay. The pool was a real bonus as was the proximity to the N10 for trips to Angouleme, Bordeaux and outlying villages.

A beautiful well equip comfortable cottage in the middle of the French countryside with its own private swimming pool and large garden.The cottage is several miles outside the town, so a car is necessary. We received good prompt information and tips from the owner. And received good local advice from Bill,the local rep.

Pretty gite in lovely location

Lovely clean gite in a good location. We had a couple of problems with ants and a swarm of bees, obviously beyond the owners control. Bill, the handyman, responded very quickly with help and advice. The owner very kindly offered the use of another nearby gite but we were fine and the bees didn’t worry us. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed our time visiting friends and the local area. Ruffec very near for good shopping. Lots of lovely villages to visit and enjoy good food.

Lovely little house in a peaceful location

The Hobogite is beautifully presented and the owners supply a generous welcome pack, which is a great help for weary travellers. The exclusive use of the swimming pool is a great plus. The area is tranquil and extremely pretty. We loved staying here- just right for 2 people.

Perfect relaxation

Lovely property in a quiet village. Perfect for a holiday doing very little other than lounging by the pool and taking in the sun. Quality restaurants recommended by the owners did not disappoint. Ruffec very quiet but the E. Leclerc hypermarket superb, but absolutely packed on Saturday. Niort and Melle well worth the drive and Verteuil sur Charente beautiful in the mid-week.

Lovely Quiet Gite in the Charente

Lovely Quiet Gite in the Charente, excellent location to explore the surrounding area and further afield to the coast. Excellent exclusive use pool that was a life saver as the temperatures climbed over 30. Very comfortable for a 2 person stay. Great communication with the owner and the local caretakers. Thanks!

Wonderful

We stayed here for two weeks and throughly enjoyed our ourselves. The gite is great for two people and Rob & Lene provide everything needed for a comfortable stay. The garden is huge, well kept and has plenty of wildlife to watch whilst chilling by the pool. The pool is fab, we were in it most days and we were especially grateful for it when a heat wave came through the area. The quiet location of the gite is ideal for unwinding being in the middle of the countryside. But 10 mins by car and you are in Ruffec for supermarkets, restaurants etc. Also in an ideal location to explore the Charante area. We had a perfect two weeks here and highly recommend it.

2nd Visit.

We enjoyed our 2nd visit to the Hobogite. We were very lucky with the weather, which enabled us to enjoy every aspect of the lovely garden and heated pool. The welcome pack was a much appreciated touch to start our holiday. However the mattress dips in the middle which prevents us from giving 5 stars. Thank you to Bill for his help and advice.

Un peu déçu par la propreté et la situation qui donne libre passage aux voisins car il n'est pas spécifié dans l'annonce que le chemin accolé à la maison dessert également d'autres habitations. Question tranquillité pas de chance car un voisin remblayait sa fosse septique. Sinon en positif la panier d'acceuil et la piscine qui est très agréable

Relaxing

Within minutes of arriving I felt totally relaxed. Really well appointed gite, superb swimming pool and lovely peaceful location (apart from the TGV) which is not particularly loud, just a surprise the first time you hear it as everything else is so peaceful. Excellent if what you’re looking for is to get away and relax.

An oasis of calm!

The gîte was perfect for us. Well-resourced, tidy, tranquil... in fact everything we needed for a holiday to unwind. And then the outside: beautiful grounds, attractive pool, serene location, glorious weather! What more could we ask for? If you are looking for a self-catering holiday in peaceful countryside, and you have a car to get around, it might be perfect for you too!
