Location and amenitues

From seeing sea turtles sand dolphins swimming by, right from our deck, to the explosion of waves crashing on the rocks and up the sea wall, we have been in awe.The kitchen was amazingly organized and complete with everything we needed- and more.The bedrooms, living snd dining area, all well done. Plenty of towels- and lots of extas.And the pool was sparkling clean and a comfortable temperature. We hope to come back here again.

Location location location

Well kept condo with the best possible sunset view SW. We lived the grass area to spread out. Although not needed, AC was nice at night to cool off the master bedroom a bit. Appreciated that there was beach chairs and a boogie board, may want to tell guests before they fly in (they may already do).

Great location!

Right in front of the shore where we can hear the wave. The swimming pool is over looking rocky shore where many turtles come, and we check them out every day. It was our third year staying at Poipu Shores (1bdrm unit in the first year) and second year in this property (2bdrm). The management company is very helpful - I forgot my personal thing and they sent it to me right away. Thank you so much! We just love this place! Looking forward to going there next year!

Pretty good in general

The property and location were great, especially the pool. Having beach chairs and towels was a plus. Good kitchen and supplies there. The grounds maintenance was not great. Dead grass, etc. We felt the property was in need of updating. Specifically, - The guest bedroom was really hot. Only strategic positioning of noisy fans made it bearable. With only a few outlets available, we needed extension cords for the fans. Needs A/C. - The parking lot is a joke. The spaces are too narrow for full size cars, so parking and getting in and out were a major chore. When people parked a little crooked, the parking police left notes on our windshields. - Pave (tile) the path down to the first floor of bldg A. The gravel path seems like an afterthought, not friendly to suitcases. - Two cockroaches were not welcome. At all. - The soap dispenser in the shower of the guest bedroom was empty. We had our own soap so didn't complain. Most of that was not a huge problem, the hot bedroom and parking lot being the most annoying. The location and pool were great, and we still had a wonderful week.

Always Perfect!

This is the 4th trip to this condo complex. It is perfect. we love the lanai, the pool, the turtles and the quick walk to Poipu Beach. This unit was cozy and perfect for our family. Look forward to next year's visit!

nice location, but unit so-so clean, and needs work

Poipu is a nice location to stay on Kauai; the property is a short walk to Poipu Beach. The property managers were very responsive & friendly; check-in was a breeze. Way too many automated emails from the company, though. As for the property - it was okay, but we were not impressed. The view from the lanai was nice. The kitchen has been re-done, and is quite nice. The rest of the place is quite dated. The carpet was stained, the couches were very uncomfortable. Both the glass and screen sliders are very finicky to open and close, and the screen slider came off the track often. It needs to be repaired/replaced. Could use sealing around the windows/doors too. The unit wasn't that clean when we arrived. For instance, there was a bunch of salt or sugar or something on the counter by the sink, and there was ~ a teaspoon of uncooked rice on the counter in the corner by the island. I appreciate the patterned counter may make it difficult to see this, but whether visible or not, cleaning a unit between guests should include wiping the counters. I cleaned and vacuumed myself before unpacking. There was a water incident in the unit above, so the master bathroom shower had a plastic sheet for a ceiling, attached with staples and tape. My husband found a staple on the floor while in the shower. We recognize this is not the fault of the owners, and the repair is in progress between guests, but it did add to our being unimpressed with the property.

Great condo and great location

It is nice condo in a great location. You will hear the ocean crashing against the rocks the whole time you are staying there. You are within walking distance to some great things and not a far drive from even more. The only negative about the condo is the parking. There is not a lot of it and the spaces are tiny. We rented a large car and it was not fun trying to park the car each time we returned to the condo. Otherwise it was a spectacular vacation!!!!

Spectacular Stay

We were welcomed with a lovely gift bag, a small cooler bag and a bottle of cold champagne - a lovely touch. The view from the lanai is spectacular and we enjoyed watching the whales. The condo was well stocked both in the kitchen and with beach accessories. A two minute walk to the beach made sunsets magical - with seals and turtles joining us each evening. Loved every minute. Mahalo!

Great views and pool, nice unit—noisy neighbors, still waiting on deposit return after 2 wks :(

The unit itself was very nice. The bubbly, re-usable bags and snacks upon arrival were a lovely touch. The location of the property was excellent, close to everything. Leading up to our arrival, property management was friendly and communicative. The unit itself was nice, the lanai opens to lawn area overlooking the ocean, which was great. The master bedroom faces the sea, offering amazing views. The master had its own a/c unit, which is great for keeping that room cool (there is another a/c unit in the main living area as well). The second bedroom is furthest from the ocean and did not have its own a/c unit, which was perfectly fine, as it had slatted windows that could be kept open for airflow. Only issue with this is that the windows face the main walkway and other guests were inconsiderate when walking in the walkway past the windows, having loud conversations at all hours of the day and night. Not at all the fault of the property of course, but made for some disruptions during our stay. We had a few other issues with other guests being obnoxious, smoking by our unit, etc., but this had more to do with inconsiderate people staying adjacent to us—again, not the fault of the property. It is an older complex, as most in the area are, but it is well kept and the pool is great. Just know that at this property, sounds seem to travel, so if noise caused by loud guests, elevators, or maintenance people yelling to one another is a concern, it may not be a good fit. Parking was competitive, stalls were kind of small and other guests consistently parked outside of painted lines, which only made it harder to fit into the limited number of spaces. There are two lots, upper and lower, with the lower lot seeming to be more popular given it was closer to the units. We didn’t have a problem, but saw others struggling to navigate with their vehicles. Our biggest issue has been with getting our refundable deposit returned. After not receiving it 10-days after our stay, we contacted them multiple times to request an update. We received an email saying it was being refunded, but we still don’t have the funds. HI law requires deposits to be returned within 14 days after relinquishing the premises, today is day 13 and we are still waiting. We aren’t too happy about having to contact them about it, and definitely not pleased with how long it’s taken to be processed. Overall, our experience was a 4 out of 5. Would I stay here again? Maybe.

Waves crashing outside door

Older property with gorgeous view. First floor unit opens to grassy areas that people staying at unit walk through to get to the beach. Not a ton of privacy when sitting outside. It’s about a 10 minute walk to get to a sandy beach. You can look over the edge of the grassy area to watch waves crash on the lava rocks. From inside, you can see the waves as they hit the lava rocks and bounce up. There were beach chairs, a cooler, and an umbrella to use. Back sliding door and glass door were a pain to shut but probably hard to maintain with the mist from the waves literally 10 feet away. We saw whales, dolphins, and turtles from the porch. There are binoculars at the property. Really enjoyed ourselves. Book Nepali tours early - these were sold out.

Perfect Setting

The place is amazing for its location but needs some serious updating. Mostly it needs a very thorough cleaning. It smells moldy and musty, carpet is a mess and should be removed. Beds were satisfactory. Tiny TV is a joke.

Great time!

The condo was very nice except the front bathroom needs a curtain or door by washer and dryer. To small of room by shower to get dressed. Otherwise we had an awesome time here. Weather was great! Did lots of stuff from hiking to going out on boat to see Napoli Coast.

Poipu Beach

Poipu beach is the best place to stay on Kauai! The weather is the best there. We enjoyed watching the sea turtles every day and usually spotted dolphins. Rainbows too. The swimming pool was lovely, clean, right temp, and on edge so you could watch the ocean. Our unit has air conditioning (106) which is a MUST. Such a pleasant walk to sandy beaches. (5mins). This unit could use a little updating of furniture. We had a wonderful time!
