  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. This is a great property. Everything was well stocked in the kitchen. The pool and hot tub are very nice. Just a few minutes walk from the beach. Lots of outdoor seating. Very convenient to numerous restaurants. We did have a little snag getting in the digital lock but this was quickly rectified when I called. Someone was out to fix it the next morning. The owners responded immediately to assure we got in. Tons of TVs so everyone can spread out as needed. Very quiet neighborhood.

Solid beach house

House was in a great location, very short walk to the beach. The hot tub was relaxing and the second floor with couches and kitchen was clean and a nice hang-out space. (We were there before the pool opened.) Kitchen had lots of pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc., everything we needed for our stay. The first floor with the bedrooms is a bit run down from wear and tear, but what you would probably expect from a beach house that gets a lot of use.

First OBX vacation

This was our first vacation as a family to OBX. The house was pretty clean upon arrival. The things that did bother me was that the bunk room did not have blinds in the windows which was a little unsettling. We ended up putting the extra quilts over the windows for the privacy. I did not like that you couldn’t lock the doors to the porch from the queen and king bedrooms, as a mom of a toddler it makes me extremely nervous that he could just walk out at anytime without me knowing. The house location was the perfect distance from the beach, our son loved the bunk room definitely a 10/10 and we loved the layout of the house. We did very much enjoy our stay and would consider it again.

Great location

We used this house for a family wedding which took place a couple miles away. Perfect spot to walk to the beach during the day and close to shops/restaurants. Outdoor decks were perfect to enjoy coffee every morning!

Duck family vacation

We had a wonderful stay. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub as much as the adults!! There was plenty parking for 3-4 cars. The furniture was cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only thing we were wishing for was some outdoor string lights!!! James was always available when we called or texted.

Great Place to spend your vacation.

The house was awesome. Beautiful swimming pool and hottub. Everything you need for your stay was included in the rental. The house was very clean and tidy upon our arrival, as was the pool and hottub. It's only a minute or so walk to the beach which was awesome. I highly recommend this rental property for your next vacation. Very good communications with the property owner, but need him for anything while we were there. Looking forward to renting this property again.

Beach Getaway!

Great beach house! Short 1/2 block walk to Beach. Nice having pool & hot tub! Also loved the great water pressure in the showers! Host very accommodating!

What you should want

Overall, the property was great. There were a few little speed bumps, but nothing that caused any major problems. The pictures accurately portray the view of the ocean, which is what you want first thing in the morning. It's a bit of a drive to get most places, but isn't that the point? I would recommend this location to other people and would stay there again myself, especially now that I know how it is in person. For those who are curious: -we were locked out upon arrival but a call from the manager took care of that. -the fireplace was a major part of our plans for the weekend, since our stay was not the typical summer visit... Only problem is its disconnected. This was definitely not mentioned in the listing. -the house was straightened up but not CLEAN. Found a dead roach and there was a good bit of dust on the top floor. Not a problem for us but people with allergies or who are more particular might take issue. -the volume control for the TV turns on the ceiling fan. That was more surreal than anything else. -The instructions for some things could have been more clear. Every place is different, so it would be nice to see more detail in the welcome binder (which trash cans to use, how to work the hot tub (we figured it out through trial and error), a few other things) All our questions were taken care of very quickly by James the manager, and that was the best part... After the view!

Duck Duck Dunes

Property was spotless, sofas, chairs and beds were very comfortable. All linens are provided. Everything you needed was readily available. TV in each bedroom as well as the open floor plan in the kitchen/family room area. The pool was clean and inviting, cleaned a couple times while we were there for a week. Sitting in the hot tub, the amount of stars visible was just amazing. A five minute walk to the beach. I would definitely come back and highly recommend to others.
