  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Great property in the perfect location! The house itself was very clean and offered great amenities for a beach vacation. The property manager was very communicable and even helped us get an item mailed back that was accidentally left behind. Will definitely try and stay here again!

Our little secret gem in Duck

I don't even want to tell you about this property because it was so nice we want it all to ourselves. The location was perfect for walking to the beach or into town. The master bedrooms with kings beds are perfect for couples. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool with outside bar. We hope to be back in the future.

Great week

Nice house in a nice neighborhood within easy walking of beach and boardwalk. Cannot really see the ocean (very slight ocean view from corner of deck) but it's close enough you can hear the surf! Would visit again!

Clean but misleading

We stayed at the property with my parents and dog. The queen size rooms were very cramped and the Jack and Jill bathrooms were very small. My husbands head was about 6 feet from the toilet. There was little privacy in the sleeping/bathroom area. While the house was clean and the common living area spacious, the volleyball court was unusable. It was overgrown and the grass had had thorns, making it unusable for our dog as well. Further, our booking through VRBO did not include the said pet fee (although we selected it as a filter for our search), nor was there an added check box. So the primary rental company contacted me days before arrival demanding the pet fee (additional money out) because the fee accessed by VRBO did not include the pet fee (which Shoreline OBX noted as a glitch in the system). If you want to stay here, I’d also recommend taking your own linens.

Overall pleased with stay

Pros: Very clean house and a short 2-3 minute walk to Beach. Pool was very clean and well maintained. We had alot of fun playing ping pong with the table on 1st floor. Cons: Landscaping and lawn upkeep were absolutely terrible. Weeds were overgrown everywhere on the exterior of the property. The volleyball Court was completely unusable due to weeds covering nearly half of the sand. Also, water runoff from outdoor shower did not drain hardly at all and there was standing water. The door to the pool was falling apart and didn't work well. Although clean, the sheets to some of the beds didn't fit the mattresses at all. Finally, onr of the smoke detectors malfunctioned during our stay and our email to maintenance regarding the same went unanswered during our stay, which was disappointing. Overall, we had a great vacation despite some shortcomings of this house which could be easily have been corrected with routine and basic maintenance.

Awesome location, great value and amenities, could be cleaner

We had a fantastic week at the Duck Inn. The location is perfect being both walking distance to the beach and to town. The house had everything we needed with the pool and hot tub being a big plus. Only downside was the dishwasher didn't really clean the dishes, so when we arrived all the dishes had been put back pretty much dirty.

Great house!!

We loved the house!! The pool was a life saver when the beach was just too hot or if we wanted to go night swimming! The hot tub was perfect for my aching muscles!! Great house!!!

Duck 2 stay

While the location of this property was perfect and the size was great for my family I don’t think we will return to this property. The overall cleanliness was much to be desired and the listing pictures need to be updated. The pictures show bikes in them which we assumed came with the house after much discussion with agent they disagreed with me unless I could prove it. Not worth arguing over while I’m on vacation. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes and the dishes in the cupboard were still dirty. There are few updates to the house which we noticed but the huge hole in the basement ceiling should be noted in listing. The volley ball court should not even be mentioned because it’s full of weeds. I have stayed on OBX in the past and for the amount you pay to rent a home should reflect the cost.

Great Family Vacation Spot

We loved our stay at this property! Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived, the pool and hot tub area included. We had trouble with the air conditioning and within the hour someone was on-site to fix it for us! Great house and great service!

We love visiting the beach and staying in Duck. This home is in a really convenient location. Bedrooms were small and the beds were so so on the comfort range. Really enjoyed the hot tub.

Hard to beat location

We were a family of seven, including four adults. The house was definitely sufficient and the location was hard to beat - a short walk to the beach and near downtown Duck. Perhaps not avoidable but because of the vegetation, there were tons of very painful burrs that got over all of us and the dogs.

GREAT Location

Duck 2 is located in an ideal spot--close to beach and Duck Boardwalk. We utilized the bikes at the house everyday! However, based on the rental price, it would be nice to see some higher quality linens as well as kitchenware (pots and pans). I would also recommend investing in a better vacuum (and a broom which we did not see) to assist guests with cleaning up all the sand that inevitably comes home from the beach!

House was very clean. The location in Duck is unbeatable. Walk to town or the beach, and we could hear the ocean at night. My parents struggled with all the stairs but loved the top floor balcony!

Great spot for a family getaway!

Great house close to the beach and shops!

We really enjoyed our stay at the house. It had a great layout, kitchen was super clean, had all the cook and dishware we needed. The shops, restaurants, and beach were all a short walk away.

Great Spot

Perfect location. We had four adults and one 8 year old child. Perfect size house for two families. We are looking at booking another week next year and will consider this property again. Only reason we might go elsewhere is to get a better price. Also - the credit for the beach gear rental was money. We rented beach chairs, umbrella, and a wagon. The credit we got as part of the deal covered it. I will never bring my own chairs to the beach again. It worked perfectly.

Great location, poor cleanliness

The property is very well located with easy access to the beach and to the town of Duck. Upon arrival, the property was not sufficiently cleaned with the main issue being the floors. The floors were sticky and a lot of debris was visible. In addition, there was a lot debris that had literally been swept under the rugs. The issue was resolved quickly, but it still left a bad taste in our mouths. In addition, the property requests that the visitors vacuum the property before leaving on the final day, but the vacuum that is provided is old and pretty ineffective.

OBX stay at DUCK 2

This house is perfectly located so close to the beach. It is also just a quick walk or bike ride into the heart of Duck to the boardwalk to see the beautiful sunsets or grab some Duck Donuts!! We loved coming off the beach to relax in the pool and hot tub. There is plenty of deck space to spread out and listen to the sounds of the ocean at night. My family thoroughly enjoyed this well appointed house.

Cute Beach House

Excellent customer service from the management company. When we arrived the previous guests had left mass amounts of garbage spilling over including eggs and other food items down the deck and AC unit. Shoreline was great about coming right out and cleaning it up.
