  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Beautiful Home

Through no fault of the owners, the cleaning company should do a better job. It wasn’t super dirty but we were a group of women who notice little things. I communicated with the property company and they thanked me for letting them know about the things we saw. I believe it will be brought to the cleaning company’s attention and will be taken care of. It was a great long weekend!

Ten Lucky Ducks

We really enjoyed this spacious property because we were able enjoy our time together using all of the “play areas” and cooking meals together in the well supported kitchen within a community that is in and around a classic OBX town. We sure felt like ten lucky ducks in this house.

Don't do it!(I have photos) I have rented many times with VRBO, this place is by far the worst!

This property does not look like what is advertised. When we arrived there was a dead ROACH at the door greeting us. We made our way to the main level of the house where the kitchen/living room is located and immediately were disappointed. The floors are old and were dirty, the cabinets have probably never been cleaned (thick layer of gross grease, food and dust caked on them) ROACH droppings all over the window ledge, behind sink, on the sink etc... Dead ROACHES in utensil drawer and LOTS of dead ROACHES in the cabinets with pots and pans. Screens ripped and hanging out on back porch, clogged shower drains (they had to come unclog the 2nd day there and the maintenance man even said they were badly clogged) sofa had crumbs and dirt on it. Just gross! But to top it all off we actually had to leave early, we only stayed 3 days, we were supposed to be there for a week. There was no mention on VRBO about a camper not being aloud in HUGE driveway and when we received the contract there was no mention of this either. (My cousin travelled from Montana in her beautiful camper to come vacation with us). We were contacted on the 3rd day and told to move the camper due to HOA rules (never received a copy of HOA rules) when I explained to the management company they stated that the owners would not budge and that they were within their rights to have the camper towed if we did not move it elsewhere. I asked where we could move it to? They said a shopping center parking lot, but the camper had all of my cousins stuff in it and she was not comfortable leaving it unattended in a parking lot for 5 days. I asked why this information was not disclosed or posted anywhere and they stated, that it was in the questions and answers section of an email they sent, but my response was, that we had no questions, clearly the driveway was large enough to hold the camper and 3 large trucks, so why would I have questions when nowhere had it mentioned no campers, RVs etc.... Owners would not even give us a refund for time not spent....5 days! We had to leave and travel elsewhere. Complete ripoff!! We were so nice in regards to uncleanliness of the property, we had to clean it ourselves, they should have paid us for how we left the place. I would never rent here again and DO NOT recommend this as a place to stay. I will also NEVER rent from a VRBO management company again either. Also, the hot tub was also yucky and cloudy (supposedly was cleaned prior to our checkin)

Great location, great layout… not as clean as other houses we have rented by far

I have several pictures of items that were not clean, and the pool area was filled with debris and no tables cleaned… grill was disgustingly dirty… couldn’t use the screened porch because several screens were broken and flies were everywhere… outdoor furniture had never been wiped down or cleaned from previous tenants… We still had a wonderful time being with family.. however, we would not rent this house again due to the lack of cleanliness… I have the pics if you are interested

Nothing but good things

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay at Five Lucky Ducks. Everything was wonderful. The location was awesome, close to the beach, and an easy walk to downtown Duck shops/bars/restaurants. Cannot say thank you enough!

Lots To Do!

This was a great property to stay at with kids! Lots to do! Pool was still closed but utilized the hot tub. Everything was very clean. The house was 2 houses away from the beach entrance. Felt comfortable with kids walking the dog on the beach every morning. Lovely! For other dog owners, you can contain your pet on the top floor by keeping at least one of the screened doors closed and letting them roam to the living room slider. But no enclosed gate for the yard which would have been nice to know. The bathroom and outdoor showers by the pool were super convenient. Putting green, volleyball, cornhole, horseshoes...fabulous! The only thing missing was a firepit! The kids loved having their own rooms and especially not having to share a bathroom! We would definitely stay again. Thanks!

Tons of space and amenities, nice location

This dog friendly property has tons of space and amenities. It's in a nice, quiet neighborhood close to the beach. The property was clean and the managers were helpful. I would stay there again, it's a good value.

it was a great location. the exterior of the house does need some work. There pool area was untidy.

the actual check-in and check-out was a breeze. I would rent it again. hopefully it would a little tidier in the pool and hot tub area.

Nice location, putting green needed tending to, upstairs AC didn't work well but opened windows. And some sliding door screens had holes. Other than that was a pleasant experience.

Almost perfect

The house was perfect for our large group. The closeness to the beach was wonderful for being able to see the sunrise over the water. Our major complaint was one first full day there we asked the rental company to come clean the hot tub. The chlorine was empty and the water was cloudy with stuff floating. By the time we left, no one ever showed up. We did the best to clean it ourselves. The beach water was too cold to swim which is why we were looking forward to having the hot tub.

Easy winter getaway

Property was just what we needed for a family getaway. We loved that we could bring our dogs along with us. Property was clean, spacious and had all amenities we needed. There were some minor cosmetic issues that would have made it feel nicer but did not detract from our experience. (Torn screens, patched drywall, broken/loose towel bars.)

Wonderful break from our covid restricted life!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room for my hubby and I to work remotely and for my kids to go to class virtually. Beds were comfy, kitchen was well equipped & there was lots of fun things to do. Will definitely visit again!

Great Place!

Wonderful place close to the beach in a great neighborhood also very close to Duck. The only complaint we have is with the property management company. We called to extend our stay because it was available. First we were told we could from the Ocean Blue office, then the Manager told us we couldn't and we ended up not being able to extend our stay. She was not very helpful and borderline rude about it. Overall great place but working with Ocean Blue management was not. Overall 4 star stay.

Very nice house close to the beach. Seemed to be one of the older properties in the neighborhood, but the house has a good layout and plenty of space for multiple families.

Outside area

The property was as advertised. We had everything we needed for our stay. The only issue in the inside was the downstairs hall bathroom had a little mold. We were disappointed about the care of the balcony area and outside of the home. Balcony was not clean, screen door torn and hedges not trimmed. Although we didn’t spend much time on the outside as it was a bit cold we really expected it to be a s clean as the inside.
