  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. One of the best vacations we have had in quite awhile. The house was clean, inviting and well stocked with everything you need. Kelly and Tom are the best and answered all questions we had and were available during our stay to answer additional questions. We made some great memories barbecuing and hanging at the pool and the pool table in the basement was a huge hit with our clan. Lots of tournaments were held between us. The boys loved kayaking almost everyday and the sunsets on the sound were beautiful….Will definitely be back!!

Wonderful!

The house is perfect. The location was great, the pool and hot tub were used daily, the recreational room was really fun. The owner, Kelly, was absolutely amazing to speak with. The house is very well stocked with items you may end up needing. We had a wonderful experience!

Wonderful vacation getaway

Home away from home! Although the weather wasnt the best the entire week we enjoyed our stay immensely. The pool, hot tub, pool table, games and books were great and the pantry was fully stocked with anything we needed! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home!

Wonderful stay!

We enjoyed the house thoroughly. It was so spacious- three floors so everyone had plenty of room. It was kept up very well. Extremely clean and everything worked well. The owner stocked the house with items and amenities so you really felt like you were "at home". The pool had lots of toys and floats, the kitchen had plenty of supplies for cooking, storing food, etc. And they are serious when they say they provide paper goods, garbage bags, ketchup, coffee, spices, etc. It is a luxury that we don't often see! Loved the bikes and the kayaks. And the owner was super-responsive to questions and all communication. We had a great week connecting as a family and enjoyed this property very much! Thank you!!

Great Family Time

Great property for our family! We had enough space when we needed it and cozy spaces for dinner, board games and pool/hot tub time. The beach was very close with easy access. Kelly gave us great recommendations and was easy to communicate with. Loved it!

Sounds Good!

Everything you need for a family beach vacation is at Sounds Good. A fully stocked pantry, pool, beach chairs, bikes, pool toys and kayaks all there for you to enjoy. Loved the hot tub! Kelly was a delight and communicated instantly. Loved our vacation!

Perfect!

We have vacationed in Duck for years, but this was our first time staying at this house, and it won't be the last! Everything was above and beyond expectations. The house was very clean and spacious, and the amenities top-notch. The hosts were so very helpful and kind! Our family had a wonderful time, and we can't wait for next summer!

Was a great vacation, house was just what we needed. We loved the distance to the beach and the pool was awesome. Supplies that were offered were very appreciated. There was some trash that we found in some of the rooms.

Sounds Good is Phenomenal

Description of property and location were spot on! This home accommodated 8 of us very easily and nicely. They have included everything you can imagine for your stay and clearly share what you need to bring, which is minimal. Communication with owners is easy and they are all about ensuring you make wonderful memories. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic Duck vacation

Sounds Good was the perfect home for our family! Kelly and Tom were attentive, communicative, caring and helpful! The home was very clean, comfortable and had so many amenities and extras! We loved the pool and hot tub. They provide four bikes that we really appreciated. We rode them every day to the beach, and we also rode them into town. We played the board games almost every night. Another extra that we found very helpful is the full supply of toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, hand soaps, laundry detergent, ziplock baggies, foil, plastic wrap and more. Also provided was coffee, filters, a spice rack and condiments! Thank you Kelly and Tom! We hope to come back next year!

Great Family Fun in Duck

We had a great week in Duck at Sounds Good. The house is well equipped and well maintained. Communications with Kelly were great she was super helpful and responsive. We spent a lot of time at the beach and then retiring to the pool for the afternoon. Cooking dinner for the family was easy in the well equipped kitchen. Loved playing all of the games after dinner. All of the bed rooms were comfortable. We tended to hang out upstairs in the living room after dinner planning games but the wet bar/pool table downstairs looked very appealing we just ran out of time to take advantage. We were there for the fourth of July week so the traffic was a bit of a challenge especially through Duck but the house its self was fabulous and the Beach in Duck is second to none.

Sounds Good was GREAT!

This home is fantastic! The owner is a fabulous communicator who also provides tons of tips and ideas for the area! She feels like a friend by the end of your stay (or even before you get there!). They obviously love their home and do everything they can for their guests to love it as much - which we did! The location is great - across the street to the Sound with great pier access, for watching incredible sunsets nightly. The town of Duck with tons of restaurants and shops is very close, which is convenient, and the beach is fabulous, especially if you love to boogey board and/or body surf. We kayaked on the Sound on the calmer days, which was great - and really cool because you can be out on the Sound hundreds of feet into it, and still stand, which we've never experienced. There is nothing that you will want for at the house - absolutely everything you think you might need, they have, from every kitchen amenity, TONS of extras for spices, coffee, condiments, paper plates, baggies - to even more with bikes, kayaks, pool and beach floats, chairs, and more. That helps so much with not having to pack all that for just a week stay OR having to go out and buy all the little things that add up, for a week stay. I loved also that there were labels for almost everything, so you always knew where to find things, and even easier, where to return things. We had 2 families, with kids from 2 - 13, and all of us loved the entire week and felt at home in their home.

Awesome vacation!

Sounds Good was a beautiful home! It had everything we needed especially for our 1 year old grandson crib high chair etc.. The pool and hot tub were amazing. We had everything we needed for the beach too. Everything is well stocked and the house was super clean. Kelly really made our stay nice with her quick response to any questions and her great input and suggestions! I felt like she was a friend even though we didn't meet face to face! We will definitely stay again when we visit the Outer Banks!

The house was fully equipped and large enough for our party of 8 to stay comfortably for a week. The location was great - across the street from the sound and a leisurely 6 minute walk from a beautiful, uncrowded beach. We also enjoyed the private pool and bikes!

Pride of Ownership

Sounds Good is a beautiful home with every convenience. It was perfect for our group of six adults and two children. My adult children really enjoyed the hot tub and pool table and we all enjoyed having our own private pool. We had plenty of room and the kitchen is very well stocked. Kelly (the owner) was great with communications prior to our trip and during the week we were there. Her concern for our well being was a top priority which we really appreciated. You won't be disappointed if you choose Sounds Good.

Paradise in Duck, North Carolina

The home was perfect for our two active families and the weather was just beautiful the whole week. The beaches were within walking distance and the sound within a stone's throw from our rental. Lots to do in Duck and the surrounding towns were within a 30 minute drive. The nearby beaches were great to explore and the horses, lighthouses and shopping was nice family time. Can't wait to schedule our next vacation. We love OBX.

Great house

First Time OBXers

We had a wonderful week staying at Kelly and Tom's home for our first OBX trip. We were able to spend time together in the large great room or playing pool and then each retreat to our separate spaces when we needed (teenagers). It's a quick walk to the beach, then when it got too hot we would head home and hang by the pool. Kelly and Tom were always available and provided great recommendations.

Great place, awesome owners. Just perfect!

This was our first visit and trip using a rental like this. Can’t say enough about the property and the owners, Kelly was great to work with,(Tom was too )but Kelly was so responsive and full of info. More than anyone could ask for. The house felt like it was our home and not just a rental property. It was super packed with amenities and other owners have their work cut out to keep up with Tom n Kelly Wilkes. Definitely look forward to another trip like this.
