  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent ocean view, 3 min walk to the beach

Everything was great, very clean, cozy. You can see the ocean view from upstair. Just remember that you should bring your own dish washing liquid, soap, and trash bag, and bleach if you ever want to use them.

Wonderful week in Duck

Our stay at Sitting Duck was awesome. The house is amazing. Everything is incredibly well thought out. The interior was freshly painted, and the living spaces had brand new furnishings, and new carpet. The kitchen is extremely well appointed with anything you can think of to cook with. We did cook in one night - got the seafood boil at Dockside in Duck - don't come here without trying it. The locatiopn of the house is perfect, it's less than a 5 minute walk to the beach, and less than a 5 minute drive to most everything in Duck (great restaurants and shops). The design of the house is easy to live in - a garage on ground level, all the sleeping areas on the first level, and the great room dining and kitchen on the second level with a wrap around deck with a view of the ocean and sunrise on one side and the sunset on the other. The owners clearly care about this property and it shows - including a phone call on our first day to see if everything was ok - we will be back!

Lovely private home with a short walk to and great view of the beach

Pros: - great location, very close to the beach - relatively close to grocery stores and activities - private - plenty of parking - great view of beach sunrise - very well stocked kitchen - friendly staff/owner - cute, beach themed decor throughout - board games available to entertainment - lots of bedroom storage Improvements - TV remote wasn't functioning properly - could not locate a good cutting board in the kitchen - lots of spider webs outside - beds/pillows not the most comfortable - suboptimal furniture layout in a bedroom - could use light darkening curtains

Duck getaway

Have visited Duck and OBX before and prefer the quiet area of Duck . Was a bit windy but still enjoyable . House a little further to beach than anticipated but that was ok due to weather . Most furnishing and decor is a bit outdated and all beds very uncomfortable but was still very clean
