The property was clean, well stocked and well taken care of. Pool was clean as well. The yard is very large with ample room for activities. Located in a nice neighborhood and just short trip to both the sound and beach access.

My husband and I, our two teenagers, and my in-laws had a great week here! The house comfortably fit all of us, was well stocked with all the amenities we needed, and the pool was a treat to come home to every afternoon! From start to finish, all parts of renting this house were easy and seemless! Would love to visit again!

Great week in the OBX! Loved the pool and spent a lot of time there. Close to amenities and lots of yummy restaurants! Very clean and recently updated. We’ll be back!

Sunsetter review

A great space for our family to have a summer get away. Husband, wife, 3 adult chiidren and their significants. The upstairs was completely renovated. Comfortable beds and pillows. Nicely appointed kitchen, though we did have to purchase a knife as there were none provided (except serrated steak knives). Close to the beach, about a half mile. Though walking with all your beach gear, was not really an option as you'd have to cross the main road.

Overall ok. Basement area of property is very dated and dirty. The upstairs portion of the home is newer and better kept but cobwebs and ants present. Neighborhood is very nice. Loved having a pool. Owners very responsive. Lots of signs and rules posted around the house making it somewhat uncomfortable. No use of pool past 9:00 pm. One door to home unable to open which is a fire hazard.

It’s all there

Amazing house. We stayed about 4 years ago and even though it was nice then, the recent remodel made it SO much better. Everything is new and beautifully decorated. Location is quiet yet close to a public beach access that is uncrowded. Never had trouble finding parking. Pool is amazing especially in an area where many houses don’t have one. Property manager/owner is very nice and very responsive. Had a fabulous week! Perfect house for 6 people and could have definitely fit more + it didn’t break the bank either.

Everything you need in a great location

Short walk to the sound side for beautiful sunsets, very short drive to parking for beach and the private salt water pool is wonderful! They have everything you could possibly need stocked in the kitchen and the house is just beautiful. We enjoyed our time at the Sunsetter!

Wonderful Family Vacation!

We recently stayed at the Sunsetter the week of August 12, 2023 and had a wonderful family vacation. We all enjoyed the pool, especially my teenage son and his friend. Very quiet neighborhood and well appointed house. Easy check in and out and the owners were very quick to response to questions. Only disappointment was the outside shower was out of service, but we easily used the hose to rinse off after the beach. Would definitely stay again!

Quiet, comfortable, easy, clean, well-stocked home - great for multi-generational groups!

We had a tremendous time staying at the Sunsetter! Our group included me, my spouse, young children, and my parents. The booking, advance communication, and check-in were all seamless. Ann and John are pros at all of this and have a system in place that allows for great communication and trust-building. We loved the location, the quiet neighborhood feels like locals or owners live there, and we didn’t hear cars, car doors slamming, or loud voices and music late at night. The pool area is fabulous! We picked the home because of the pool and it didn’t disappoint! The 1st floor/downstairs master bedroom/efficiency apartment blew our minds! We didn’t expect it to be such a comfortable living space with a fridge/kitchen area, bathroom, dining area, small living room, and king size bed. My parents were thrilled in the space and also enjoyed being able to take a break from their grandkids! The main level is technically the 2nd floor and is well laid out, equipped, clean, and comfortable. We loved the family photos and other personal touches that clearly communicate a sense of family, beach history, and kindness. We didn’t use the eat-in kitchen space because the high-top dining table was easy and offered more space for the 6 of us to enjoy meals. The kitchen has just about everything you need during a vacation, I was so impressed by how well stocked it is with pots & pans, utensils, and dishware. We also were super appreciative to have cleaning supplies, and extra trash bags, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent. So many rentals don’t provide any of that stuff and have limited or no pots & pans, we were thrilled to find so much provided by the hosts. The 3rd floor has a bedroom with twin beds, a Jack & Jill bathroom, and a master suite with a large and comfortable sitting room. Our young daughters enjoyed the room with twin beds and we liked being so close to them and accessible when they woke up during the night. Ann and John were lovely to communicate with. They were responsive, accommodating, and helpful. There are helpful notes throughout the house with reminders which made our stay easy and worry free. Ann and John have thought of everything possible to make guests comfortable. They treat their guests with value and kindness, you can’t find better hosts or a better beach house for a vacation in OBX!

The house is in a residential neighborhood. It is a close walk to the sound to watch the Sunsets.

The house was fine. The saltwater pool was the best feature :) The traffic getting in and out in Kill Devil Hills was a little tricky due to needing to get onto the main road. It is a 10 minute walk to the Sound to watch the nightly Sunsets. This is a good place to stay with family members.

Expected more for my money.

Was disappointed, not very clean, old and outdated. Owner was very nice we had an early check in. Enjoyed the pool and the beach. House needs a major cleaning will leave it at that.

Joy with the Grandkids

The place was roomy enough for three families, and we had lots of fun in the pool, at the beach and exploring the area. There were a couple of issues, but we worked through them with the very friendly owners.

Vacation in the Sunsetter

The property is exactly as listed. The owners are very responsive, even notifying us of early occupancy. We had 4 adults and 4 teens/young adults in our party. The house is spacious and easily accommodates 8 guests. Our friends stayed in the lower level, private unit, which has a king size bed, microwave, full size refrigerator and a washer/dryer. There is no stove so they had to come upstairs to cook (not a problem for us). The kitchen is generously stocked with pots, pans, plates., silverware, etc. The pool is SO nice. The solar cover maintains warm 85 degree temp. The neighborhood is quiet and within walking distance of the bay. We chose to drive to the Hayman Beach access due to the very busy 4 lane highway that separates the house from the beach. We had a great week and would recommend this house.

Outer Banks family vacation

We had a great time on vacation. The pool was amazing! We enjoyed walking to the bay side for sunsets and driving to the ocean side for sunrises. The bay side has walking path to a public pier to walk out over the water. The beach is an easy walking distance but you must cross a 4 lane highway so we drove to Hayman Beach Access with a nice parking area and lifeguard on duty at beach. The house worked well for our family of 8.

Enjoyed this house. Location made it accessible to all eateries. Quiet neighborhood, couple blocks from the Sound or the beach. Walked in the mornings around the neighborhood. Pool was fantastic when it got hot.

Perfect for a family get-together

The house was just as advertised. The kitchen was well equipped. We were a little surprised that the ground floor master suite could only be accessed by going down the outside stairs and reentering a separately keyed door, but it worked fine. The owners were very communicative and responsive. Would stay here again if we visit the area again.
