We appreciate your taking the time to write a review about your visit. We did have some construction going on in the off season as all Outer Banks properties do. It is the only time we can take care of updating the facilities here since we run full house in season. We do try to not have these updates interfere with our guest stay. We do appreciate the 5 out of 5 score you gave us and we hope should your travels find you in our area again that you will be our guest.

I am highly disappointed in this stay. I have strayed there In the same room a few times and never had issues. However, this time the shower head was broken and you couldn’t take a proper shower, the soap holder was holding on by a screw and falling off and the chairs on the roof top were broken so we couldn’t sit up there. Also on top of that there was no manager to talk to you can’t call the hotel because nobody will answer and they kept trying to charge me 7 times before I even checked in when I chose to pay at trh property. I will not waste my money there again.

I know you were upset way before you checked in because you arrived very early with a pet to a non-pet property and could not check in early. Yes your card was attempted to be charged but declined. We charge the first night and in your case the 1 night stay in advance once the room can no longer be cancelled without penalty. The card you provided was declined. We had attempted to reach you about the declined card prior to your arrival with no response.Reservations have to have a valid card to be valid reservations. The card guarantees the reservation.The shower head is not broken. I just checked the it. The roof top deck has been closed since last year and is not open for anyone to use that is why the door was locked. We had to replace the lock after your departure because it was broke open to gain access to the roof.We are sorry that you were unhappy about not being able to check in early and since you were a repeat guest I would assume you knew we did not allow pets.We appreciate each and every guest that stays with us and we work very hard to try to make sure each visit is great. Sometimes regardless of what we do we can not make every guest happy. We just work harder to improve where we can. We have a window from 11 am until 4 pm to have all 71 rooms ready for the next guest. That is a very small amount of time to do all that we do. Which is why we could not get you in when you arrived hours before check in. I know this made you upset and feel that perhaps your review is a direct reflection of that issue and the fact that we are not animal friendly.I hope you enjoyed the one night here on the beach and wish you nothing but the best!

Great views
This hotel is under enovation but the rooms are spacious and veey clean and comfortable. The only slightlly negative us the wind tunnel that comes under the door. The ocean views an access are wonderful.

Great for our weekend trip! We got a ocean view and it was beautiful, and had the surprise of a second balcony off the private bedroom. Not far from attractions and restaurants, would definitely stay here again.

This was a much needed get-away. The room was spacious and the bed was amazingly comfortable. It looks like it is being renovated (furniture had odd grouping but was still amazing)! The bathroom was clean (tub needed to be resealed but was still super clean) and there was not tp holder - very minor things. The view was great and access to the beach was great. Will definitely be staying here again!

Hi Terry. The floors were both swept and mopped before your arrival. However, we are an outside entrance property and when guest come in with the luggage carts and their rolled luggage as well as shoes they can often track in sand which gets on the floors of the room. Being a beach front property with open exterior entrances this is an issue. We have gone to non-carpeted flooring from our recent renovations. Sand being tracked in by guest is a big issue and we are planning to enclose the hotel this winter so that the issue of tracking in sand is eliminated by corridors. As we explained to you the toilet paper holders are on back order. We do have a nice closet for towels that has been installed right beside the bathroom. We will continue to work hard to please all of our guest and all suggestions are appreciated. I can assure you after this winter the changes that will transpire will be amazing. All back order items that have not come in have been reordered from a different vendor as well as the back order remaining on order in hopes that one of them shows up soon. We have all the amenities the property advertises I am not sure with which you speak of as non-existent. Please feel free to email or call me with further details so that we can know what this means and work harder to do better.

Not impressed. Hotel room was not well cleaned. There was a used q-tip on the floor of the bathroom. Carpet was filthy. Checking in was ok, but I wasn’t told about breakfast, it’s hours, or anything about the pool or fitness center. Not very welcoming. Remote in living space didn’t work. Table provided too small to eat at.

Hi Teresa. Our property has removed the carpeted flooring in our recent renovations. The fitness center and pool are closed as it is the off season. The fitness center is being relocated to another area of the property as we have noted on all websites and confirmations. The pool closes October 1st as it is an outdoor seasonal pool. Breakfast was noted as well when you arrived. Perhaps you did not hear her explaining that during the run down she gave which is standard information we supply all guest including a paper which list things to know that we also provide at check in. We do apologize about the remote. The batteries died in the remote during your stay. We would have gladly replaced them for you or even provided a new remote had you let us know. I am sorry that your stay was not up to your standards and I assure you we will work harder to try to be all you expect and more in the future.Have a blessed day!

I like the renovations being done to this property. It is much improved from a year ago. The breakfast consisted of frozen items purchased at Food Lion. I hope this is temporary due to the renovations. Breakfast was much better in previous years. The rooms lack towel bars/hangers and anywhere to put clothes or items in the bathroom. I booked online and check in took over 30 minutes and there was only one person ahead of me. I have no idea what this was about. We were tired after a long day and just wanted in our room. The entry door was very difficult to open and our refrigerator had a broken thermostat so everything froze in it. Shower water pressure was dismal. The room entry doors are very close together so be prepared to hear some noise if you get uncaring neighbors. Overall I like this hotel and will probably stay here again. However, there is room (no pun intended) for improvement.

Hi Brad. We are so happy you like the improvements. Many more are to come. The breakfast is complimentary and is not a hot buffet. I am sorry the Wyndham system was having issues when you arrived. This happens from time to time and is company wide and beyond our control. That was the issue with check in and we did our best to move as quickly as possible once the issue was resolved. Tech support with Wyndham was doing all they could to take care of the system wide issue.I am not sure which room you resided in as you did not tell us you had an issue with the shower so I would appreciate you letting us know. The shower heads were all just recently replaced. The entry doors are now brand new. We truly appreciate your input and we hope that you do come back again as the new scheduled renovations are going to be nothing short of amazing! We are excited for what is to come.

Nice property. Only problem was that the power went out and I wasn’t able to contact front desk. There are no landlines in the rooms. There also wasn’t a back up generator for the elevators. My elderly father and husband who has a bad heart we’re stuck in the room until power came back on. I just had knee surgery a couple weeks ago and had to climb up and down 5 flights of stairs to find out what was going on. When I got to front desk the clerk said that her phones weren’t working I had tried to call with my cell and it just hung upon me. This is just a safety concern. Other than that, place was clean, beds were good..very nice location.

They had the power out in our area for about an hour due to this situation that was beyond anyone's control. We do apologize. The property location is great! However, the hotel is still under development I guess you can say. They are really disorganized. The pool had a sign up, making you think it was unsafe to get in-however after check out I find out it was due to the fence being messed up but the pool was OK to get in. However, the pool was not clean. There is no phone in the room to call the front desk-they assume you can use your cellphone. Until the hotel is completely remodeled I definitely would not stay there again. For the money I paid for the room I expected more. The room seemed like it was missing a lot. There was no where to hang your towel up in the bathroom. Just some of the basics-they were missing!

Hi Dana.The sign was for the pool fence that blew down in the recent hurricane. It said pool fence on the sign that was posted on the fence. This is required by the town when a fence is damaged during a storm until insurance adjusters and contractors can come back and repair it. Which is a process in itself. Had our pool been unsafe to use we would have certainly let you know. Our pool is cleaned daily. We are however on the ocean and with the fence being down more sand than usually blows in so we have had to vacuum it more often. The wind during your stay was pretty strong. Many replacement items including toilet paper holders and towel bars are on back order. We do apologize for this but it was not expected to be back ordered. As with many things back ordered items which are a normal now in this country and beyond our control sadly.We have more major improvements starting this month and the property will just keep getting better and better!

We are glad you found the staff to be friendly and the water pressure to be strong. The hotel has undergone some major renovations. Many more improvements are being done this winter. The floors are brand new and they are multi colored brown and tan but I can assure you it is the coloring of the floors and nothing more. Although many guest do track in sand from there luggage wheels and luggage carts as well as there feet because we are an exterior entrance beach front property. The back ordered items including towel racks and paper towel holders. These are items that were scheduled to arrive and have been submitted as back ordered by two of the three vendors we have now placed orders with. All of which is beyond our control. We are working with vendors to try to get concrete installable holders and racks that can be gotten sooner but we are still having issues as is most of the country on many things. We hope you will return and give us another opportunity in the future.

Hi Trey. You saw a water bug outside of your room which is an exterior property so the outside which is where they live. We are on the water and this was a flying water bug as we explained we can not control what flies outside the building. Now from time to time one may hitch a ride on your luggage or come into an opened balcony door. Water bugs do not like to be inside. We also have our property treated weekly as a proactive measure because we are on the Outer Banks and we are an ocean front property.We hope you will considering staying with us again. This winter we plan to make some additional major improvements at our property.

Totally not the place for a family or anyone traveling with another couple. In addition to the unit being dirty, it was way below a substandard motel. One would expect a bathroom to have a towel bar, a toilet paper holder and a vanity to set your towels or clothes on while you shower. Hair was all over the bathtub and the porcelain finish was chipped. The lobby of the hotel was cluttered with supplies and boxes, the elevators were dirty, the pool was filthy, the plastic wind breaker was broken and chards of plexi glass were strewn about the pool area. There was no bathroom near the pool area. Skimpy furniture provided for seating in the unit, the TV did not have local or network channels only reruns. Overall this hotel doesn't quailify for the 1 star review. It was only tolerable for the two night stay for me and my husband. If I was traveling with children or another couple, we would have checked out immediately after opening the door to the room.

I am sorry to hear about your dis-satisfaction during your recent stay. You did come in during a hurricane/tropical storm. The storm produced very strong winds and heavy rain. The wind of course lasted for your entire short 2 days that you were here. The pool gate was damaged during the storm and we had a lot of sand blown in the pool because of the heavy wind and rain. As soon as the conditions improved our team cleaned up the pool deck and repaired what they could of the fence. This of course had to be addressed by the insurance adjusters. The pool was cleaned as well as soon as conditions allowed. No one could have used the pool during the storm as the weather would not permit it. You could barely stand up on the pool deck and with the sand blowing you would certainly have been sand blasted had you attempted it. I personally inspected your room before your arrival and the room was clean and passed our inspection which is actually 2 part. The housekeeping manager and the AGM both check rooms so we make sure nothing is missed. Because we were dealing with the storm the GM also was assisting with inspections. We checked rooms not only for cleanliness but for any damage that might have happened during the storm. The rooms were just recently, as in just a few months ago renovated. All furniture, fixtures, drapes, bedding, televisions, flooring, paint and even doors were replaced. We actually have a very large cable package. We have fiber so the channel package requires 3 different channels just for the guides. We do have local television as well. I am sure the weather certainly was a good reason for your disappointment in your visit and I am sorry that this happened on your scheduled dates.The boxes in the lobby were part of a delivery that came in and could not be hauled out to the storage until the wind and rain subsided. They were clearly off to the side of the room and certainly not in the way of any guest. There is a vanity in the room and a nice wardrobe closet located right outside the bathroom door with clothes hangers and shelves. This too is brand new from our recent renovation. I almost wonder if you have our property and another perhaps you stayed at confused. Regardless we certainly appreciate you staying with us and we hope you can return to the area under better weather conditions. It certainly was not beach weather during your visit. We wish you nothing but the best.

DO NOT STAY HERE! What a dump. This place was dirty, depressing and gross. There was no toilet paper holder. The toilet paper roll was on the back of the toilet like at a gas station. There were no towel racks. We just piled the dirty linens on the floor, which was very convenient for wiping the copious amounts of sand from your feet. The pool was nasty, cloudy, green and filled with sand. The beach access was unmaintained and not safe. The soap dispenser was empty and the shampoo dispenser was filled with conditioner. I could go on and on about how disappointing our stay was. Suffice it to say that Expedia's rating was very deceiving. Googles rating of 1 star was accurate. Don't stay here.

Hi Karen.I know you were upset because we had a tropical storm during your stay. That was beyond our control. I would like to clarify that the statements you made are incorrect. We have a very nice closet with shelves that is at the bathroom door for the linens to go in. There is also a shelf under the sink where extra towels were left for you. The pool was cleaned as soon as the wind and rain subsided enough for it to be cleaned. It was never green but yes sand kept blowing in as it is an ocean front hotel and we were having a major storm with major wind and the dunes behind the hotel are made of sand. We cleaned it numerous times daily once the storm passed. The beach accesses are not owned by the hotel but are maintained by the town and I believe are federal properties. There are 3 access located near the hotel. One of those is actually one of the best access on the Outer Banks. It has a wonderful handicap ramp and is the home of the lifeguard center here on the beach. I also find the comment that the soap dispenser was filled with conditioner when these are disposable containers. We can not refill them as they are not refillable. So the soap is in the soap dispenser and the shampoo is in the shampoo etc. I am sure if you let the front desk know any of the three ran out during your stay we would have gladly replaced it with a new one. Our property is newly renovated and yes toilet paper holders were back ordered and still have not yet arrived. We actually just placed and order for a different one since we are having trouble getting the one we ordered previously. Everything in the room is new as we fully renovated so there is new flooring, new furniture, new drapes, new lamps, new tables, new light fixtures on the walls, new bedding, new front entrance doors, etc. We are very sorry that you were here under windy and raining and tropical storm conditions. We wish these were in our control. We do appreciate each and every guest that stays with us and we do our best to try to be sure everyone enjoys their stay.

Check in was super easy. Staff was friendly. Room was clean. I was disappointed there wasn’t a microwave in the room and the bathroom didn’t have any rack to hang towels or place clothes while showering. Loved the fact they had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available!

Hi Darlene.I am so glad you enjoyed your visit. The new shampoo, body wash and conditioner holders are amazing. We love the Dove products too. They smell amazing. We will be installing microwaves in all rooms this winter as we continue with our improvements. Towel racks are also backed ordered but we hope they arrive soon. The new closet wardrobe we placed right beside the bathroom has hangers to hand your clothes while you get ready. We hope to see you again soon!

I am sorry you did not enjoy the free continental breakfast we provide. We do try to have something for everyone. We offer a variety of microwavable items for our guest to grab as a quick start to the day. I am sorry it was not a hot buffet as you had hoped. Our breakfast consist of yogurt, fresh fruit, breakfast sandwiches, burritos, waffles, cereal options, grits, oatmeal, muffins, donuts, coffee, tea, milk, and other items as we switch up so that it is not the same thing daily. There are many great restaurants in the area that we can recommend in the future for those who would like omelets and breakfast platters, etc.
