First let me start this review by stating that there is nothing malicious in my honest opinion as to what we experienced and felt about renting this property. Teri, the owner of the property was very friendly and cordial. She was waiting for us to arrive at (Her) front door of the property, (we were apparently renting the rear of her property. I said to her, are you the rental agent, & she replied,I'm the owner, and I live in the front of the property. I was taken back and surprised to hear this, as I thought we were renting a totally private rental, that's what the listing stated. (Private Estate) The view is beautiful, you can see the ocean from the pool area, her garden is beautiful with all the flowers and trees. The pool is very nice also. We had our own parking spot in front of the house. The house had all the ameneties for cooking, washing our clothes, showering and so forth. Now for the negatives,I know rental agents hate this part becasue they normally come back at you with comments like how bad we were as renters and all the negatives they can come up with. We didn't like the fact that owner lived in the front of house, and she told us that clothing was optional around the pool area (I'm not a prude) but that was another surprise.The decor was dated, bugs in bathrm, told gardner was coming by one day and then pool guy another day.Had to adjust. ( THERE IS NO LAW IN MAUI THAT I'M AWARE OF THAT SAYS OWNER MUST LIVE ON RENTAL PROPERTY!) PER GOOGLE. PLEASE LIST INFO.

Just like home

We absolutely loved our stay here! The location was quiet with beautiful views, and the home was stocked with everything we needed. Our kids especially loved having the private pool — it made everything so convenient and relaxing.As previous residents of Maui, this stay truly felt like being back home again. The Island Gourmet Market nearby was such a bonus, with plenty of great food options and groceries right at our fingertips.Teri is an amazing host! She kept in touch throughout our stay, providing us with important information and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting comfort, convenience, and that warm Maui feeling.

Lovely

My husband and I stayed in this home for a week in June, 2025. We were astounded at the beauty of the gardens with endless flowers. We spent most of our time on the patio admiring the view of ocean below and the gardens. The bed was extremely comfortable. There are two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house was actually more spacious than what we anticipated from the photos. Communication with the owner and housekeeper was flawless. Some of the nicest resorts on Maui are down the hill including Grand Wailea, Four Seasons, and The Fairmont. We ate at Nobu at the Grand Wailea and loved it. Pricey but amazing. We super enjoyed the Te Au Moana Luau at the Marriott. A fantastic cultural experience!

Little Slice of Heaven

We just returned from a 2 week stay at Maui Joy. The property was BEAUTIFUL. We were specifically looking for a little seclusion and privacy, but everything we wanted or needed was close by, so it was a great location. Teri was always there when we needed anything and very quick to respond, before and during our trip. A big thank you to Teri for sharing your beautiful home with us! We truly had a great time and couldn’t have asked for more to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary!

Exceptional Rental and Host

Your host Teri is rated as a Premier host and deservedly so. She was so helpful from the day we booked and throughout our entire stay. We contacted her source to have the house stocked with everything we needed when we arrived and we settled into Aloha immediately. Teri is also an amazing woman to get to know should you care to engage in conversation with her. Having said that, she respects your privacy and will communicate via text, checking on anything you might need or you can text her with any questions. We left having felt like we made a new friend. My wife and I wanted to find the perfect place to celebrate our 50th anniversary and Maui Joy was the bulls eye. Knowing this, Teri had a bouquet of beautiful fresh local exotic flowers to welcome us and kept them fresh the entire stay, even adding to them. The house is as shown in the pictures; there were no unexpected surprises. The house is well appointed with everything we needed to settle in. The outdoor living space is spectacular and we spent the majority of our time outdoors, either at or in the pool, sitting at the comfortable covered living space overlooking the pool or the lower yard which provided great late afternoon shade shade and the perfect place for cocktail hour. Exceptional dining is a short drive away as are great beaches. She has all the beach gear, no need to rent. With a stocked fridge, music, bathroom etc, we spent several days home around the pool. Aloha prevailed! Yes, we will return to Aloha!

Great way to end the year

Stay was great and the perfect way for my wife and in-laws to spend the last two weeks of 2023. The house has two comfortable bedrooms and the grounds are beautiful. The owner keeps a birdfeeder stocked up and the birds are beautiful and wonderful to listen to while soaking up paradise. Location is great to get to great beaches and Kihei or Wailea.

Anniversary and Birthday Trip

We have been to Maui a few times and this is our favorite place to stay. So peaceful and quiet, which is what we wanted. We just wanted to relax and decompress from everything and this is the perfect place to do it at. Teri was an awesome host and so very sweet. We will be back.

Living the Hawaiian Dream

The first half of our trip we stayed at a high-end rental home in Lahaina. We spent the second half in Kihei at Heaven on Earth/Teri’s place. So our first rental was very nice but felt a little sterile to me. I think my daughter summarized the difference between the two very succinctly. She said the first place felt like we were “visiting Maui.” Teri’s place felt like we were “LIVING Maui.” Being up on a hill, the views, sunsets and evening stars will take your breath away…the birds sing happily all day long and the abundant fruit trees and flowers overwhelm the senses. The pool/lanai were enjoyed daily. We loved the new hot/cold outdoor shower as well. And the mangoes we picked were so sweet, juicy and tastes slightly of coconut—so yummy! Our stay was comfortable and our host Teri was warm, friendly & nearly always available- so much so that we joked about being soul sisters….we all loved our time here, felt like no one else was around (extremely private) and truly felt like heaven on Earth. I’d love to move to Maui someday ( big dream I know) and have a slice of heaven just like Teri’s. It’s been a couple of days since we left Maui…I feel this huge emptiness inside, missing the serenity, peace and wholeness I felt while staying at Teri’s place….I am eager to return soon. Already. Thank you, Teri, for sharing your home, stories and recommendations… and for you sharing your love and care with us all

We had a great time staying at MauiJoy! Teri, (host/owner) is so thoughtful and helpful. Gave us tons of advice well in advance so we could make reservations at popular spots in time. This is thus far the best VRBO we have stayed at in terms of ensuring every possible thing we could need was already on site at the house for our stay apart from groceries. And the views! Watching whales with our binoculars frolic in the Pacific was amazing. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Location is perfect. Short drive to beaches, restaurants, shopping etc. New Year’s fireworks watched from pool deck/lanai were fantastic. Rented full house which allowed each teenager (3) to have own bed (one was sofa bed in living room). Can’t wait to go back! Definitely 5 stars!

Amazing

Maui Joy is an amazing place with beautiful views of the ocean and Molokini crater. The pool is amazing after a morning of exploring the islands. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals. Grocery stores are close by, Wailea, Lahaina and Kehei are fun places to explore and not far. Costco, Target and other 'large chain' type stores are about a 30 minute drive one way. The house is up on a hill in a quiet neighborhood and you can't see the neighbors due to the amazing lush tropical landscape. Teri is a fantastic host that makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay and is very knowledgeable about the area and has lots of suggestions and tips. 10 out 10 would recommend this place and will totally return!

60th Birthday Celebration

This was the perfect spot to celebrate 60 years on this planet. Comfortable beds, air conditioning, well stocked kitchen, and our own pool! It doesn't get much better than that. The host lives on the property, per law, so she's available, if needed. There is a wonderful view, lots of beautiful birds, and cute little geckos! We can't wait to come back again.

Beautiful relaxing stay

We enjoyed our stay, loved the pool and the view. House is very well equipped, had everything we needed during our stay. Great location to stay in or go shopping. We spent most of our time relaxing in and by the pool, but ventured out a few days as well, drives were reasonable time away. Teri was helpful, we enjoyed visiting with her. Lovely week, would have loved to stay longer, or make a return trip.

Amazing view, beautiful home and location is perfect!

What an amazing vacation we had! Our family loves Maui and to find such a special hidden Gem of a home to enjoy while we were there was so special. The home is so relaxing, clean and has everything you will need for your stay. The pool and very was absolutely what we were looking for. My teens prefer having the pool to ourselves and being able to relax. The flowers, gardens, trees and birds really helped you enjoy the tropical surroundings. Thank you to the owner for making this stay so special. We will be back!

Perfect House in Paradise

This was a perfect house for our family. The outside lanai area is stunning- the gardens are beautiful and full of fruit bearing trees (best bananas ever), the pool and surrounding patio is the best place to relax, enjoy and listen to the birds. The house layout was great for each of our teens to have their own space but great shared area as well for dinner, TV time etc. Teri is a fabulous host! She was incredibly accommodating of our delayed schedule, willingness to accept packages ahead of time and provision of general knowledge about the island and her home. Beaches are not quite walkable but easy drive/park to beautiful locations. We would stay again 100X over and will recomend to anyone traveling to Maui.

Wonderful week

My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at MauiJoy. We really enjoyed the grounds, including the pool, the beautiful flowers, fruit trees, and plants, lizards, etc. The home had everything we needed and then some. The beds were comfortable, and the A/C units worked well to keep us cool at night. We loved the quiet location away from the busy tourist areas but close enough that a short drive took us to the beaches, restaurants, and shops.

Extended stay in Maui

Mahalo for a wonderful opportunity to stay in your abode. A warm Aloha greeting with leis greeted us upon arrival. ( something we don't see in our vacation club stays ) Your home was private, warm, and inviting offering all the conveniences of home. We didn't need anything except for coffee, ice cream and some groceries. What an awesome treat to experience living Maui in a mountain side neighborhood. The pool and views of the water were heaven. Conveniences to Wailea and Kihei providing treats to local foods and sights made the time pass even faster. Monkeypod, shaved ice, fat daddys and more provided fabulous food enjoyment. You can't go wrong with Terri's home to recharge your batteries.

Awesome place!

This place is great if you aren’t into crowds and noise. It’s quiet, beautiful view, perfect for kids to be able to play outside in the yard. We loved our stay and would definitely come back!
