We stayed at this rental in Kiama while attending the Wollongong Triathlon World Championships. Booking was straightforward, although the “non-refundable” label should’ve set our expectations lower. After booking, the property management company emailed requesting a photo of our driver’s licence and our credit card online. We submitted the licence, but declined to upload the credit card (our Amex advised strongly against it).
Upon arrival, we still had not received the door code. They continued to insist on the credit card photo online. We offered to bring the card to their office or provide the number over the phone, but the person we were corresponding with didn’t appear to have a physical office, and all communication remained via text messages. The tone felt off. Eventually they sent us the code.
Throughout our stay we received multiple one-sided text messages listing $500 “penalties” if we parked wrongly, used a certain space, or did other things. Our messages with questions were ignored. We were told to move the garbage bins from the carport to the street for collection, even though we thought they were still in their designated spot.
Parking was in a carport but extremely tight for our minivan — once parked, one side of the vehicle couldn’t get a door open.
