First, the bad: this unit does not have reliable hot water, the management company knows and does not care. When I told the management company, they said (and I quote) “the boiler for this building is shared, so hot water would not be readily available during peak times such as the morning or evening.” When I asked for compensation, they said (again I quote) “The HOA manages the boilers and said it was an issue with them, we have no control over the boilers, there for no refund is given, this is written in our rental agreement.”To me, this feels like fraud. There was a known issue with this unit which they failed to disclose prior to renting. When I discovered the problem, they failed to resolve it or compensate me in any way. And of course, there is no way I would rent such an expensive unit without hot water. The good: the location is great. Easy access to skiing. The okay: there is a lot of puffery in the unit description. It is not “ultra-lux” and it was not remodeled. Excluding the lack of hot water, it is a functional 25 year old unit with older furniture and older cabinets. It does have newer kitchen and bath countertops and a newer stove/oven. There is nothing special about the towels or sheets. The upstairs bedrooms are in a loft-like area with low ceilings and no windows. But bottom line – unless you like lukewarm (at best) showers and an unhelpful host, I would strongly recommend staying away from this unit and Summit County Mountain Retreats.
