Large Home close to skiing

The home is very large and can sleep a lot of people. The kitchen was wonderful and had everything you need to cook meals. we also enjoyed the game room after skiing and the gas fireplaces. The house had signs of wear and tear, some things could have been cleaned better, they had bug traps everywhere, an the fridge was broken providing no ice, but overall was comfortable.

Wonderful spot for extended family vacation

Helicopter Skiing Trip to Celebrate a 60th Birthday

The property was clean and as advertised. It was well located for access to both ski resorts and the town and restaurants. Communications and responsiveness for both check in and property management were excellent.

Great house, especially for big groups, in a great location

We had 10 of us staying in the house, all with different schedules and activities, and this house worked so well. There are plenty of beds and baths and lots of common areas to accommodate everyone without ever feeling crowded or on top of each other. We loved the location, just outside of Ketchum and therefore more private but also close to drive there or into Hailey. It was very clean and well managed. I would definitely recommend staying here and we are hoping to book again for all of us again next year!

Highly recommend

The house/property was absolutely stunning and VERY spacious. Everything was orderly and in great condition prior to our arrival. The pictures of inside the home speak for themselves. There was responsive and clear communication with the property management before, during, and after our stay. Getting to the mountain to ski each morning was incredibly quick and convenient, as was going into both Hailey and Ketchum. Highly recommend this place for any large groups, including families!

Fantastic Large Family Home

We rented the palace for a family ski trip over the president's weekend. We were a large group of 12 and all in all the house was great. Plenty of bedrooms and space for people to have some privacy. The living room, dinning and kitchen space was perfect for a large group to be able to hang out watch TV, eat and cook. The views outside the windows were great and the home felt very private. The layout of the house was a bit wandering with bedrooms stretching to all corners of the house but they were good sized and perfect for a large group. The location was perfect for skiing and restaurants as it was very close to Bald mountain and to both Ketchum and Hailey. There is a really nice bike/cross country ski path behind the house that takes you straight into town if you are up for a really nice snowy walk. Looking forward to coming back next year. Thanks

A Palace in name only

We rented this house for 10 persons for President’s week. When we arrived, the internet was not working. My family members were able to come to Sun Valley only because they were going to be able to work remotely some of the days. I called to report the outage and was told “There is nothing I can do.” I told the maintenance person that I would have to cancel our vacation and stop payment to the owner if it was not fixed and was told “I don’t care.” I went ballistic. I created enough fuss so that the ant’s nest stirred and the internet was fixed but not without engendering bad feelings.This house is huge. There is no art or decorations of any type except for one small ski poster. Every wall is bare, unadorned. The main room décor is empty book shelves. It is as though the owner anticipates renting the house only to groups of college men. But there are roach motels in almost every room and multiple ones in each common room. Nothing says class and caring for your customers more than roach motels. Then, the hot tub had no chemicals in the floater, cloudy water and the smell of mold- evidence of prolonged neglect. The fan on the kitchen stove was broken. The refrigerator displays a large sign saying the ice/water dispenser is broken. The heat was uneven, some rooms stifling hot and others very cold. The garbage was never picked up even though the dumpster was overflowing. And the house instructions consist of a list of things that you are warned not to do.

Not what we expected

This house is in need of some repairs if they plan to continue renting it out. Upon arrival we found more than 15 mouse trap boxes laying in corners of the home. I wore shoes the entire time after seeing this. The home was large enough for three families to gather, however, with three guests being over the age of 70 and other children, the extremely steep stairs leading to the apartment was not even a viable option. The game room had several options to play upon first look, but a few of the games did not even turn on and the ones that did were not supposed to be turned off at night. Not such a great plan to have those next to a room full of children’s bunk beds as the games were extremely noisy. We made use of the main house space, but ran into several issues during our stay. The upstairs master did not have a working tub and the shower head was so high that as a 5’4” person I could not get under the water without having my back touch the shower wall. The room below ended up having a ceiling leak from the water heater on our last night covering my older relative with water while she slept. The washing machine in the laundry room was also finicky with the hose popping out during wash cycles. In the kitchen, we found two trash bags for our use and the trash cans outside where overflowing, never emptied during our 8 day stay. The maintenance person was permitted to leave us a few more trash bags, but it was not nearly enough for our long stay with 11 people. The kitchen was spacious, but lacked some essential items and had multiple sets of less essentials. We had to buy a meat thermometer during our stay. Overall the size of the house made it easy for a large family to stay together, but the lack of cleanliness and updates made for an uncomfortable stay. The maintenance person was helpful when called. We would not rent his home again.

Great space and seating, some issues

Stayed 4 nights over Thanksgiving, 2017. House is located about 4 miles south of Ketchum, just north of Botanical Gardens, on east side of and about 200 yards off highway. House is elevated over houses to the east, so had good views to the east. Views to the west were ok too since brush and trees screen house from highway. Lots of parking area, 3 car garage plus outside parking. House is large. We had a multi generational family of 9 adults, 2 teens, one infant. Used all 7 bedrooms. Very comfortable for all. Could easily have handled 3 more adults and 7 or so children. 3 bathrooms on suite, 2 bathrooms are shared by 2 bedrooms each. No half bath for common use. General seating area in main room was large and comfortable with 3 large sofas in a C shape, large screen TV, large dining room table (held all of us), large extra table, large utility table, & seating around kitchen island. Pros: Very clean. Good space. Lots of TVs and fireplaces. 3 living rooms, although main room was only one really used. Apartment above garage includes one of the living rooms, kitchen, bedroom and bath. Decent counter space, good storage in main kitchen. Easy access to Harriman Trail by walking up to Gimlet and east to trail. Good parking. Good WiFi. Heating system worked well, although temps were moderate. Cons: Main kitchen is adequate but surprisingly small for such a large house and has only one stove, range and frig. Additional frig in garage and frig/stove/range are in apartment; garage & apartment are a long way from the main kitchen. Stairs to apt very steep. Interior of house looked like it was in the middle of maintenance - few decorations on wall, paint samples on wall. No stereo in house. No desktop computer. Playstation console in game room didn't work properly. Had Wii console but no Wii games. 3 out of 4 vintage stand up arcade games worked. Some windows missing blinds, some blinds didn't work. Not all windows that should open will open. If staying in summer, no AC, although not usually an issue in Wood River Valley (it was last summer). 2 lamps in living room next to couch were not plugged in and had no obvious place to plug in, one was missing turn knob, plug in below couch didn't work. Other random plugs through house didn't work including two in kitchen. Conclusion: Stayed in similarly sized house on Warm Springs in 2016 - this was cleaner, had better configuration. Most of the cons are pretty minor in big picture. We enjoyed our stay.

Ketchum and Sun Valley

Good house for a large group. Well equipped Kitchen. Great common area. Second master downstairs must use shared bath across the hall Convenient to Ketchum, Sun Valley and lots of amenities and activities. Second kitchen and bedroom over garage is a bit isolated. Advertised as sleeping 14, but only if you pay extra for high occupancy.

Great house for large group and launch point for Sun Valley activities!

We had an amazing stay here! We had 5 families with small children and it was a perfect place for us all. The kids loved the big backyard and the large driveway to ride their scooters/bikes. The house was clean, had an amazingly stocked kitchen, rooms were a great size and the beds were super comfortable. There was tons of seating for everyone and the house was very safe for a families with small children. The house was perfectly situated a short drive from Ketchum and all the activities that Sun Valley has to offer. We had a few questions while there and were able to work with Leo to get questions answered - he was super helpful and prompt. Overall, amazing house and great place to stay. We highly recommend!

Great House for a Group

This house was amazing, spacious and extremely comfortable for our group of adults. It offered space for us all to spread out and was very conveniently located between the resort and the airport. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything you could need to make a meal for a large group, including plenty of spices and other non-perishable items. We didn't even tap into the bunk room or the apartment, but we could have had even more people join us. The bunk room might have been hard for adults seeking privacy as it is located between the garage entry and the main living space, but would be fine for kids. Thanks for the hospitality- would definitely stay again!

Beautiful view

I will begin my review by saying that we really enjoyed our vacation and staying at this property was great for our big family. There was pros and cons and I will list both. I’ll start with the Cons. Cons: Mouse traps where everywhere, all over the home made our whole stay anxious because we where scared to see mice. The house is in a very big need of a deep clean. When you walk in it looks clean overall but Everything is extremely greasy and musky. You could tell it wasn’t cleaned properly in years. You could tell that when a party of guests leave they only vacuum and change bedding. Floors and carpets are dirty with food stains everywhere. The kitchen was greasy and the oven had burned food. Stove Air vent didn’t work. The mashing machines have a horrible smell coming out of them, they are in extreme need of a clean inside of them, and need to be run with the Tide washing machine cleaner that gets rids of smells. Washed clothes smelled musky and slimy. The video game machines were out of order, when we arrived only 3 machines actually turned on and worked the rest didn’t work. Now The hot tub, when we arrived they poured out the dirty water and poured in fresh cold water that took all night to heat up, We where not able to enjoy the hot tub the first day. The hot tub isn’t able to keep the water hot. When the lid is on it heats the water up to 104 but ass soon as you take the lid of and get it It gets down to 98 within 30 min. The hot tub hasn’t been cleaned in forever also, The inside sides are extremely slimy and the water stank from day one even though it got changed. Pros: Beautiful, big home with a lot of room for multiple families. 4 washing machines and dryers through out the house. Big kitchen and enough seating for a couple of families. Beautiful views In the backyard. In conclusion I would like to say that it’s a beautiful home to stay in. But not worth the amount they charge per night and the extremely high cleaning fee that they take. I expected much more for the amount we paid.

Best location, amazing home

We were visiting Ketchum for a yearly sibling/friends ski trip, and it's always tricky to find a place that can accommodate everyone, but also be close to town and the mountain. This house exceeded all our expectations, and made for an amazing week of memories. If you have a big group, this spot works equally well as a homebase, or just a place to spend the day! This is a very nice house with ample room and wonderful family spaces. That said it is in need of updates regarding electronics, hot tub, gaming amenities, basic window care.

Great listing for large group.

We had 10 people stay in the home while attending 4 days of wedding events. We appreciated the spaces that were available for people to have privacy (bathrooms!) and yet be able to gather together for meals, etc. the beds were all super comfortable. Extra towels were available and appreciated. One suggestion - with a group the size of ours we needed more than 2 kitchen trash bags. I had brought extra myself and was glad I did.

Great family accommodation

We read the review that was submitted right before we left for our trip. Other than the mousetraps, we didn't notice anything that was lacking. The garbage was full when we arrived. After calling the property manager, we were assured that the garbage would be collected on Monday morning. It was. No problem. Guests are asked to make sure they don't park in front of the dumpster. The driveway is huge, with space for 3 cars within the garage. Take advantage of that, and don't block the dumpster. As represented in the listing, there is plenty of room to spread out. The main kitchen is very well stocked with cooking implements, dishes, glassware, etc. It's true that the stairs leading up to the apartment above the garage are quite steep. Just make sure whoever stays there can handle that. Don't put Grandma up there! The house is in a beautiful place! Ketchum, Sun Valley, Stanley, Redfish Lake are all fun places to explore. This house is a great jumping off point for all of that and more. There are great (paved) bike/running paths easily accessible from the house. For the more adventurous, there are also mountain biking trails. Note: If you have a special pillow, bring it. The pillows were really flat and disappointing. None of the children complained (go figure), but all of the adults were wishing they had brought their own.
