Croft head Shepherd's hut on traditional Lakeland farm

  • Welcome to Barkbeth Farm Shepherd's Huts. We are set on a working farm located in Bassenthwaite in the heart of the Lake District. We offer a relaxing glamping experience with stunning views right at your feet.
    Set in it's own peaceful compound away from the sounds and smells of the farm is Croft Head
    Open plan living/dining/double bed with plenty storage underneath with bespoke moodlit headboard carved to form the 3 mountains within walking distance from Croft Head, Ullock pike, Skiddaw and Bakestall.
    Our hut has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, double electric hob, full size undercounter fridge with an ice box, even an airfryer!
    Outdoor fire pit and picnic bench for you to make the most of the amazing views. Bbqs welcome but are not provided.
    We are dog friendly but can only accommodate 1 and kindly ask guests to keep them off the bed.

Prachtige rustige en zeer stille (je hoort werkelijk niks) locatie vanwaaruit je prima wandelingen kunt starten. Onder andere naar de top van Skiddow (ca 960m). Uitzicht op weiland (schapen) dal, dorp en fell.

We had an amazing stay! Everything was perfect.. beautiful area and the Shepard's hut had everything we needed, sadly there was another shepherds hut next to us and we was under the impression we would be totally alone BUT overall gorgeous place to stay!

Gorgeous location!

We had a great stay in Croft Head, the views are amazing, and it was lovely to see the lambs every morning! The hut had everything we needed for our short stay and we probably would have used the fire pit on an evening if the weather had been kinder.

If you're looking to step away from the crowds and reconnect with nature, staying at this house on a working farm is an absolute gem. The property is surrounded by fields of sheep, offering incredible views of the lake and a truly peaceful atmosphere. Spending the evenings here was magic—there's nothing quite like sitting outside under a clear, starlit sky with just the quiet surrounding you. I highly recommend taking advantage of the campfire spot; sitting by the fire in the evening was easily one of the highlights of the stay. Inside, the house is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable trip. The kitchen has all the necessary cooking tools, the bathroom/toilet facilities are proper and clean, and there’s a lovely, cozy area inside to relax, read a book, or enjoy a meal while taking in the views. A quick heads-up for future guests: The nearest grocery shop is about an 18-minute drive away, so be sure to plan ahead and stock up on supplies before you arrive!
