Family Fun in the Kauai Sun

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home with all sorts of amenities. Our three adult children joined us, along with their significant others for some beach time, cool touring the N’apali coast, visits to Poipu Beach, and fun family meals followed by game time. Celebrated our eldest birthday with a disco night and some grilled steaks and potatoes. Loved enjoying my morning coffee on the 2nd level porch, watching the waves crash in. Great vacation and property!

Family trip

We stayed at the house for 5 nights. We made all of our meals heree. When the propane was low we had a new tank the next day before we needed it. For us it was perfect. We like a slower lifestyle away from tourists. There was a town close to pick up things and cute shops to go to. The beach wasn't swimable but we loaded of the provided beach supplies and found a great beach not to far away.

40 Year Anniversary Trip

This is a beautiful 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home across the street from the ocean. The very small beach across the street is not for swimming, but there is a beach at Kekaha Beach Park a 5 min drive down the road where we had our vow renewal. There is a fair amount of car traffic on the road between the house and the ocean. The yard is beautiful with blooming hibiscus and other tropical flowering shrubs. The kitchen is large and roomy and well equipped with the exception of needing a complete set of measuring spoons and cups. There was a small problem with ants in the downstairs 1/2 bath and downstairs bathroom. Sitting on the upstairs lanai at night you get a beautiful view of the stars. If you are looking for a quiet retreat this is great. Westside activities we enjoyed were Poliholi Beach State Park (need 4 WD), Waimea Canyon State Park, Kokee State Park, Salt Pond Park, and the Na Pali Experience Boat tour. Our young adult children that joined us were interested in visiting restaurants and beaches and other activities around the south/east/north sides of island which required 1-2 hours of driving several days as there is only 1 road around the island. This VRBO was exactly what we wanted; however, our young adult children and their spouses would have preferred being on the East or South shore.

Beautiful and comfortable waterfront stay

Travelled to Kekaha as a group of 7 family and friends. This house was the perfect place for us to gather and start our adventures. The screened in porch was everyone’s favorite for meals and card games, and we loved the upper lanai for morning coffee and sunsets. The layout of the bedrooms gave us all space and privacy when needed, and the common spaces were well furnished to spend time together. the waves crashing on the rocks across the street are so dramatic and beautiful! The beach in Kekaha didn’t seem great for swimming, but we travelled a short distance to salt pond or poipu when we wanted to splash around. The property manager Chad was so helpful and accessible, and we really appreciated his responsiveness and flexibility with our trip. Other reviews mention the road noise, and we did notice it but it did not bother us. It quiets down at night, and when it was daytime, we were exploring or spending time by the water. We had a beautiful stay, thank you!

Beautiful views

We had a very nice stay here. The house was very clean and has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is decorated like a home and not a rental. We had some trouble finding it in the dark. Turn at the driveway where the yellow hydrant is and you’ll find it no problem. The only con is the road noise, as others have said. It is very loud day and night. I could hear it with the room ac unit, two sound machines and a fan running.

Nice House, easily fit 3 couples and an adult son

Overall we had a wonderful stay. The location was good because it was close to Waimea Canyon and town was near. It has plenty of bedrooms, large eating/kitchen, BBQ and lanais.Downside is the road that runs in front of the house, it is a busy, noisy road especially in the morning hours.

Relaxation on the lanai

Beautiful home, well maintained, all the comforts of home with the benefit of upper and lower lani. Fresh breeze and pounding surf to sleep by and rolling waves and long sandy beach to catch some rays and r n r. It is quite a way from other activities, but it’s a small island if over crowded resorts are not your thing then this is it. Loved the stay, loved the house.

Very nice property

Very nice home. Across from the beach, however this is not a guarded beach. Salt Pond beach was the best beach within a few miles. Amenities were nice.

It was my dream to bring my 3 daughters to Hawaii! After 3 days on Oahu they chose to stay on Kauai. We had a fantastic time. The accommodations were perfect for our family very impressed with the artwork, and cozy conversation spaces!

Bottom line, it was awesome.

This is the kind of place you hope is available every year because you'll never want to stay anywhere else. It's a 30-45 minute drive to the side of the island that has all the hotels and tourist spots, to us that was a bonus. Right across the street is a beach that was never crowded. The road in front is a highway, but there was never high traffic.

Well located not so elegant

The location of this home is excellent if you like a quiet setting. The home is spacious and comfortably furnished.However it is a bit dated and some things are in need of repair.We had an ant problem that was resolved but only after half our stay was over.The host was responsive to our needs but not really empathetic ..saying things like “ that’s surprising or that’s interesting “ when I reached out about some issues. a bit off-putting. We traveled so far and spent a goodbye of money so the problems did not ruin our stay. We enjoyed every day and saw many wonderful things.

O’hana hale!

This nicely designed residence situated all 4 of my visiting family, all from different areas of the mainland. Each had their own very comfortable area. Everything was well-stocked & organized… a priority for this family. All our questions were responded to promptly. We will absolutely reserve this home for their next trip. It’s more than worth it. Beautiful remote stay

We were thrilled pulling up to this beautiful home! Our stay was exceptional as we started mornings with coffee and family time on the lanai’s and had a wonderful time enjoying the peace and quiet of the west side of the island. There was an issue with the AC upstairs but I commend Chad and his on-island team Keenan for being creative with solutions to immediately get portable units to make our evenings more comfortable. The layout of the home is perfect offering all places to congregate and also privacy in evenings. Wimea canyon is only a 15 minute drive with lots of private/quiet beaches away from the typical touristy areas of hanalei, Lihue, and poipu. We had a car and were able to drive and explore the entire island with ease. Thank you Shaka Hala for helping us celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday with joy, relaxation, and beauty!! Highly recommend staying here!

Amazing property!

we booked this dreamy house for my 50th birthday celebration, we had friends renting another Shaka property down the street and more friends in Poipu. This was a great home to host everyone for a BBQ. There was plenty of seating and dining ware. We made use of the many available games. We enjoyed yoga on the walkable beach across the street. The house fit all of us so comfortably. We were even able to accommodate a surprise visit from my nephew. There was plenty of towels, both bath and beach. Tons of beach chairs and umbrellas that came in handy. We were a bit away from the action which was a blessing and a hassle from time to time but I still chose the best house for an amazing week! The only things I can recommend would be new seating cushions for the lanai. And perhaps just a tad more attention to the detailed cleaning. The house in general was immaculate, it was just the little things that i noticed such as dirty hand railings - but it was no big deal. Overall - a WONDERFUL PROPERTY! I would highly recommend.

Kekaha House

I chose this home due to its ability to house the 9 of us. We consisted of 3 couples and 3 small children. The lay out was perfect for our family and we had plenty of space. The lanai was large and the perfect place to have meals together. This home is on the west side of the island (dryer side). The beach was amazing and had great boogie boarding for experienced swimmers. The excursions were about 15-45 min away from the house, but not a problem for us. This is a more local side of the island and not full of many tourists. The overall experience was 5 stars for us and we plan on returning in 2025.

A Special Place

We loved our stay in Kekaha at Shaka Hale. It's a wonderful, quiet neighborhood near great beaches and the lovely town of Waimea. The house is beautiful, spacious, and well-appointed, with dreamy ocean views, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the West and South sides of the island and being away from the primary tourist areas. Be aware that there is road noise from the highway at all hours, so the primary suite can be a bit noisy at night. Regardless, we loved our time here and highly recommend it. We would absolutely stay here again.

Paradise and then some

From the moment we walked into Shaka Hale, we knew it was worth the price of admission. The house is stunning, incredibly spacious and definitely elegant. The furniture is beautiful and the decorations are simply perfect. With stunning breathtaking views we miss already. The master suite is outstanding, great space, amazing views and we had coffee on the lanai every morning, watched the sunset over Ni’ihau and just relaxed out there at the end of the day. A TV in the room would have made it 110% perfect, but there is one in the spacious area just outside of the master. The downstairs master leads to the screened in porch, which was fantastic and the other 2 bedrooms had plenty of space and storage. The incredible kitchen includes a countertop that goes on forever. Everything you could think needing of in a kitchen was there including a spacious pantry. The location is incredible, away from the hotels and tourists. The beach just up the road is incredible; not crowded, large beach and those amazing sunsets. Just 2 miles away is a well stocked Big Save, restaurants and our favorite, JoJo’s shaved ice. There are tons of games & puzzles and the wifi was excellent. Plenty of towels, chairs & beach gear. This house was perfect for our vacation, definitely made everything feel elegant on the next level. Chad was incredibly informative and an absolutely outstanding host. We would definitely highly recommend this property and hope to be back ourselves.

Beautiful property

This was an excellent house for our family. The host provided great instructions for everything. The beach across the highway was wonderful to walk on. All in all a great place!
