Beautiful but very remote

The place was stunning! No monkey! I think that was a fake post, the gardener said they are not there the property was very well kept and had everything we needed. We did have a few inconveniences with air and fridges broke down, but, they promptly repaired them. The biggest issue was location! You're far from everything and logistically it's difficult to get around to see places or even go to dinner or the beach. It was also very expensive to get a ride to any where. We basically felt stuck.

Perfect family getaway

We came for Thanksgiving week and had a marvelous time. One of our married kids had stayed here with friends before so we knew what to expect. We used the chef to cook one to two meals each day for us to make it so easy with young children. We also had massages lined up and loved it as we could put babies down for naps while we were able to be pampered. The internet was spotty at times but if going for vacation it does not matter so much. We felt close to all the places we wanted to visit and the host was great to work with.

Great property and concierge! Know the location though

The property itself was awesome, very clean and safe. The concierge and staff were very responsive and very helpful. We booked too late for the chef service though, so I'd inquire about that before you book, as we had to hire a driver for meals and there is nothing close, as you are remote at this location, even just to get to the beach you have to drive. But overall a great experience!

Perfect stay for our 3 families!

Villa Shalimar lived up to everything in the VRBO listing! 3 identical casitas for our 3 families with 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms each made for a spacious stay. We ate most of our meals in the Palapa and would tell you that if you don’t opt for Teresa’s on-site cooking, you would be missing out. It was a highlight of our trip. The pool was a dream. It would be a bit challenging to be at this property without a rental car as it is at least a 10 minute drive to any store. Our groups only complaint is that the beds weren’t very comfortable. Richard was very helpful and quick to respond, we appreciated his promptness. We hope to visit Villa Shalimar again soon!

Week Stay at Villa with Family and Friends

Overall our stay was good. Communication with the property manager was good and they were easy to get a hold of. A few things that would take this property to a 5-star review: 1) Mosquito control- mosquitoes were really bad, almost impossible to eat dinner outside due to mosquitos 2) ACs in rooms were good, but ACs in common areas were not large enough to keep the area cool. 3) Wifi does not work in the villas, the property needs a mesh system so that wifi and TVs will work in the villas. 4) Kitchens in the villas are really for show, the stove in our villa was not even hooked up and there are little to no dishes, cookware, or anything else, all cooking has to be done in the common kitchen, which is fine, but if eating inside one of the villas, sort of a pain. 5) The villas also have very active termites, tubes could be seen in all villas throughout. 6) Shower in the downstairs room in the villa is very small. The Pros: 1) A great setup for multiple families or friends. 2) Huge pool, although the large part of the pool is a little shallow for adults, but great for smaller children, as they can touch the bottom almost everywhere. 3) We had a chef for dinners and the food was really good. 4) This could be a pro or con, there was a friendly spider monkey that hung around for about 3 days. Was really cool, but also scared some of the kids, as she was not shy at all. 5) Great privacy and place to hang out with friends/ family. Bring a speaker for the pool, none outside

A wonderful getaway!

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Shalimar! The space is exactly as the description and pictures show. Three nicely equipped villa's around a giant, multi level pool with a swim up bar. Plenty of shallow space safe for younger children (the youngest member of our party was 3) and deeper areas for the stronger swimmers. Check in was breeze, despite some of our party arriving much later than expected. Richard (concierge) came back to check the entire group in at 11 pm when the last of our group arrived! He walked us through everything we needed to know about the property, as provided a book of services (tours, massages, etc) that we could take advantage of. Several in our group had massages which were wonderful! Cleaning staff comes daily and are friendly and accommodating. The pool was tended to multiple times during our stay. The property is surrounded by wonderful trees and shrubs, so regularly pool maintenance is required. We opted in for several dinners catered by their chef. The meals were simple, but good. If you're looking for a multi course, five star meal then this is not the chef service for you. We didn't inquire, but I suspect the concierge would be able to find a different chef is that's something you were looking for... he is very responsive and is eager to address any need you have. All in all, Villa Shalimar was a wonderful and relaxing place to stay. We'd happily return if (when) we come back to the area.

Great for group travel!!!

This property was amazing. The pool and setting is amazing, chef Teresa was 5 star amazing, ALMA was amazing...Richard was reachable and gave speedy responses and we appreciated that. Logistics and numbers could be better for additional costs, there are ALOT of hugs but ultimately I would visit again

Simply Amazing!

This property was just breathtaking! I chose this property for my boyfriend’s surprise birthday trip with his friends. For the group of 7 of us the villa was extremely comfortable and we had a lot of room & still had a sense of privacy while begging on a group trip. Ileana and Richard were very helpful & accommodating throughout the duration of the trip. I am definitely looking forward to coming back and will recommend to others!

Living the Dream

The pictures do not describe how beautiful Villa Shalimar is. From the very beginning all the way to the end. The communication has been excellent. So much to offer at this property. Extremely relaxing. Nothing short of amazing. There were 4 couples in our party. Each one of us enjoyed our accommodations and how well Nayli kept them. Carrie came over to cook for us and with what we had already pre-ordered food wise. She put together an amazing meal. We could not have asked for anything more. Took advantage of the beach club near by. Sandra gave four of us fantastic massages. On of which had not had a massage in over 25 years and he could not have been happier. Thank you Jeff for your constant contact.

An amazing stay with a group of 10

We have had an amazing stay in this mini private resort. The photo's represent exactly what you can expect in reality. Host Jason and his staff Hector & Teresa made our holiday a dream holiday. We would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone who likes to be away from the really crowded toerist locations, but also near every nice place or atraction to visit. We had an absolutely amazing stay and would like to thank all of you responsible at Villa Shalimar!

Even better than the photos show!

Jeff, the property owner and our local host, was so kind, welcoming, helpful, genuine and available. Teresa was a fabulous cook who created 5 wonderful and different meals for our family of 12. She plated them so nicely and was very sweet. Hector was friendly, helpful and always ready to lend a hand as the groundskeeper. The two cleaning ladies were both respectful and hard-working. I could recommend a couple of things to tweek, but they are so minor. This is an AWESOME place and it was PERFECT for our family! The pool is beyond AMAZING!!! I do recommend renting your own car(s), eating in part of the time (BUT eat inside one of the houses as the bugs are hungry too.), and visiting the many amazing cenotes in the area.

Excelente vacation!!

We love spending time with our family in this place, it was big enough for 12 people, specially the swimming pool that our kids enjoyed a lot, also our housekeeper was wonderful, the same than Hector who was there Everytime that we needed him, we enjoyed going to diferents tours , the house is very comfortable y has everything that we needed,(except the washing machine and dryer that were not working) but Lupita our housekeeper took care of that, and we are very grateful for that. We want to come back in the future to this house. Thank you to Jeff too for his help.

Wishing I could have stayed longer!

Such a wonderful way to spend a relaxing family vacation. We spent 8 days as a group of 3 families. Just loved how great this set up was. We all had our own space and privacy when we needed, and the outdoor common area was seriously the best! No need to be going in and out of your villas for anything. Full outdoor kitchen / bar / bathrooms. It was perfect, and the baby monitors were in range (extra bonus)! The management, and staff were great and so helpful and friendly! I don’t have words to describe how great our cooks were, the best food we’ve had in a long time. I loved the nights we arranged for meals to be cooked. Each villas are set up great and stocked with everything you need. Air conditioners in each room was super nice. And the pool....SO FUN! I’m not sure if it was the little kids or the adults who enjoyed it more. I thought the property was great, can’t wait until we can come back!

If you want a place to just go and relax this place is the bomb service is second to none

Jeff and the staff at this villa will make you feel 100% at home the food that was prepared was top notch. Cleaning staff were awesome you can’t beat this place if you want a vacation that is totally relaxing I highly recommend this place but bring bug spray and use it.
