I just moved cross country with my family and booked the house for 6 weeks until our home was ready. First impressions were not good. Tree limbs were down all over the yard, grass was uncut, a portion of the deck was crumbling and cobwebs were all over the front porch. So, it was evident from the get go that the house was not well maintained.The inside was not any better. The bathroom shower curtain had to be peeled apart and bright pink mold/algae was all over it. Dust had accumulated on all the vents throughout the house and the carpets were, and I cannot express this enough, FILTHY. We immediately contacted the host asking for a refund because this was not what we had paid for, but she refused stating it needed to be canceled weeks in advance. The host did agree to have the liner replaced and bathroom cleaned but this never came about because I was not about to wait days for someone while my children lived in that. I ended up going out and buying a bunch of cleaning supplies, mop, and dirt devil to do it myself.Some other small things; the dishwasher was broken from the first day, garage is locked and the biggest closet in the house is locked. I was willing to let this all go and just lean into a bad situation, but once we left, the host is claiming "significant dirtiness left behind" and confiscated our security deposit. The house was left in much better condition than when we arrived. I feel she is just using this situation to get what she can from us.
