  • Hampden House offers guests serene accommodation amongst beautiful established grounds overlooking the Valley escarpment with private access to the Kangaroo River.

    Hampden House was chosen by the Australian Women's Weekly as the location for their winter fashion shoot. Boxstudios have used the property for music videos.

    Good news - Wifi, Netflix, as well as ducted heating and cooling to ensure your stay is comfortable all year round, although it is always lovely to light the fire in the cooler months.

    Built towards the end of the 1800s, Hampden House retains many of its original features including outbuildings, 3 sandstone fireplaces, century old hardwood flooring and cedar windows. It is set on acreage with frontage to the Kangaroo River and is a short stroll to the quaint heritage listed village of Kangaroo Valley. The house has wide verandas with extensive views of the surrounding valley escarpments. The property has been in the same family for 5 generations and the current host is the great grand-daughter of the original owner.

    The main house has 4 bedrooms featuring many of the property’s original furnishings. The kitchen and separate living room offer stunning views of the property surrounds and feature the original chimneys, echoing the sandstone of the renowned Hampden Bridge.

    Hampden House sits beyond a laurel hedge amongst fruit trees. Meander in the orchard or down to the waters edge and listen to the gently flowing river as you relax in the garden.

    Make yourself at home, relax in front of the fire or on the veranda with a good book and take in the clean crisp country air of one of Australia’s most beautiful regions. Discover the tranquil world of Kangaroo Valley and enjoy this elegantly furnished house which is suitable for couples who enjoy their own company or for a small group of family or friends.

    Hampden House is the perfect stay for guests wanting privacy close to town with a great variety of activities to choose from. The house features its own solar heated swimming, pool, sheridan sun dried linen, mountain bikes and idyllic picnic spots.

    Hampden House could be your perfect for your wedding, it is suited for small intimate occasion 20-25 guests.

What a delightful place to step back in time and relax. There was the beautifully stocked kitchen, the leafy outlook from the lounge room, the shady pretty pool, the comfy beds, the green rolling hills at the back, the multiple quiet spaces to sit on the veranda and enjoy the stunning garden. All this just a short walk away from the cafes and shops of kangaroo valley township. 3 generations of my family had a lovely 3 days in Hampden House this past week. We were very comfortable despite the 40 deg temps outside and were able to relax in air conditioned comfort and enjoy the lovely pool. Karen was very easy to communicate with able all was as described. Would love to visit again!

What a credit to Karen our host , previous reviews say it all, we were there for a wedding other than that we just sat back and enjoyed the property did not need to go anywhere else . short 10 minute walk to the cafes etc Thank you Karen we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves .

Blissfully addictive!

This was our third stay at Hampden House, and it won't be our last. If you are looking for a place where your every day life anxieties melt away; a place where the host invests her time to make sure your time is perfect; and a place you will want to return to time and time again then this property is for you. A magical property

Everything you need

In a lovely part of Australia, the property is very well equipped and has everything you need. The host responds quickly and leaves some food and drink essentials for use during the stay. The property has a nice homely feel with plenty of areas outside to sit and relax. It’s a short walk to the village where there are a few shops and restaurants.

The property is set in a lovely garden and you can walk down to the river. It is tranquel and pretty. Easy walk into the village and lots of thoughtful extras left by the owner.

Wedding weekend

We were visiting Kangaroo Valley for a family friend’s wedding. We booked into Hampton House and the house was amazing. Beautiful old house with surprises at every turn. We had the most amazing weekend at Hampton House. The hospitality of the owner was just wonderful. I have never felt so welcomed before. Thank you so much Karen. The property is so private and peaceful. We had so much fun with the pool and the kids loved playing in the river. We will love to come back again one day.

Wonderful getaway

The property was like staying in a museum of Kangaroo Valley, but with modern amenities. Fully equipped kitchen, and nice welcoming staples, which were important as we arrived after the stores in Kangaroo Valley had closed for the day. There were lots of places to sit a relax with others or on your own. Walk to town was very enjoyable. I would recommend this for adults, as I know I would not have relaxed with children around because of all the wonderful dishes and ornaments. I would highly recommend this place.

A beautiful relaxing getaway

Such a lovely place to stay Beautiful house on beautiful grounds. The house is like taking a step back in time. Full of antiques and wonderfully put together, with lovely cosy bedrooms. Right in the heart of the village a perfect location. The garden is wonderful and it leads right down to the river. Karen is a perfect host and puts out some delicious goodies for your stay. I highly recommend staying here.
