Hi Kathryn, We are sorry to hear that you left at 2am in the morning. The rain catcher in the tipi is designed to catch the rain drops as well as the tarp beneath it in case there is an overflow from the rain catcher. The overflow then will drip to the carpet from the tarp so it doesn't splash around. Our after-hour number is posted inside the tipi for situation like this as well as the heater issue. When you first start the kerosene heater, it is normal for it to smoke for the first 10 minutes. Once it is working properly, it will not smell. The door of our trapper's tent can be locked from the inside, but not from the outside. Our cancellation policy is 14 days before the arrival as many other hotels. Our rates are calculated based on market research and remain competitive with other facilities offering similar services in Western Canada, while taking care of our staff members by providing them a competitive wage. We are hoping to do facility upgrades that are long overdue and new amenities which we plan to roll out over the coming seasons to enhance the experience for future guests. The upgrades that have happened are free rentals for bigger outdoor games, Adirondack chairs, hammocks by the river and free shower dispensers. But the biggest upgrade will happen next season. We will renovate the washrooms this Winter to make it a more enjoyable experience for all guests.The Kerosene heater will smoke only for the first couple minutes when started.
