Condo has a beautiful balcony, which was really the highlight. This is an older building, which was noticeable in some areas. The portable air conditioning worked well, but the installation allowed a lot of outside sounds. Perfectly located for walks into town to go to restaurants and shops. Had wonderful views of sunsets and surfing.

Excellent property!Needed some time to calm my mind and the balcony with the awesome view, and the ocean sounds were exactly what the doctor ordered.This is also very close to many restaurants and shops. So highly convenient as well.

Anniversary Getaway

My husband and I celebrated our 40th anniversary on the Big Island. This place was wonderful. The views!!! Oh my goodness. We watched sunset every night from the deck. We could easily walk into town to the ABC store, the Farmer's Market each morning for fresh pineapple, mango, bananas, etc. and lots of food choices. It was very quiet and the parking is covered and convenient. Would definitely stay here again.

Kona Kai 201

Property was clean and organized. View from lanai was very good for sunsets. Room has a/c which was a plus. The mattress was new and very comfortable. The bathroom and sink area is small but functional. Laundry was in a separate area which requires quarters to operate. Was very close to downtown Kailua village.

Amazing views

Such a great find! Will definitely try to request this unit If I ever visit Kona. Spacious for 2 guests, clean, all amenities plus extra! Surprisingly quiet, stayed during spring break. Would highly recommend!

FABULOUS VIEW

Beautiful views

We practically lived on the balcony. We saw dolphins and whales, tang fish, crabs and eels, and gorgeous sunsets. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed and furniture comfortable. There was an issue with the pipes,which caused problems with the toilet, then the dishwasher, then the air-conditioning. Spectacular views

Condo was great. The views and sound of the waves crashing was amazing and just what my soul needed. The beach towels, cooler, chairs and boogie boards were awesome. Cindi was clean and and in good working condition. We loved the the location. I’d definitely stay here again!

Relaxing week in Kailua Kona

This property is situated literally right off the oceanfront as waves hit the shore below the lanai. The location is within walking distance to numerous shops and restaurants, but would advise renting a car to enjoy other eateries in the area. The condo has air conditioning which was appreciated although the summer temperatures weren't oppressive. The living area including sofa, table with two chairs, and a kitchen with the essentials was fine to meet our needs, and the separate bedroom with comfortable king bed was nice. Picture window in the bedroom also overlooks the ocean. The bathroom is small, but adequate. The condo wifi wasn't working well, but we made-do without it. I was able to access the room key through the lockbox with code when we arrived, but trying to place it back into the lockbox when we departed was a struggle, so we left the key in the condo and left a message with the property manager. Overall, we had a very relaxing, pleasant stay in Kailua-Kona. This property isn't the lap of luxury, but does make for a very comfortable stay in Kona and the location can't be beat - Mahalo!

Oceanside Retreat

Great oceanfront property. Sitting on the lanei offered views of ocean life and spectacular sunsets. The condo was well equipped and offered all the comforts of home. The property was centrally located to Kona Town, restaurants and shopping with easy access to major roadways on the Big Island. We would definitely stay in this condo in the future. Mahalo

Beautiful corner condo

Enjoyed our stay! Loved the ocean view! The indoor and outdoor furniture were very comfortable. Perfect for a couple or small family. The air conditioner worked fantastic! I would definitely stay again, and highly recommend it.

Great property. Ocean front. Lanai overhangs the ocean. Bathroom could use an upgrade. Chair height toilet and grab bars would be nice. Shower curtain is moldy. Great kitchen knife set.Front door needs an upgrade.

Great locstion with gorgeous view

This is an unbelievable location in Kona on the rocky beach. Constant waves breaking close-up to the resort make for mesmerizing entertainment. Hale Kona Kai has a nice-sized pool, a great propane grill, and laundry facilities, and it's a short walk from the Kona bars and restaurants. This unit was well supplied with all the amenities you can think of. This place would have gotten 5 stars except for repeated reviews with complaints about the front door that sticks so bad you can hardly open it and has no deadbolt and the bed which creaks, cracks and groans everytime you move to the point of waking us up. These items need to be fixed and then all your reviews would be 5 stars. Great place!

Fabulous location!

What an amazing location! Right on the beach, we were able to look down to the tide pools and the sea from our lanai and saw turtles come in to feed every day, lovely bonus! The apartment needs some updating, but overall it was clean and comfortable and is just a short walk into the center of Kona. Also loved having a dedicated covered parking space so the car didn't get overly hot!

Kailua Kona Breathtaking Views

My wife and I love a great view. Our unit at Hale Kona Kai is one of the world’s best we have experienced. It compares with places we have stayed in Santorini, Paris, Rome, San Francisco, LakeTahoe, and Niagra Falls. We also love restaurants. This unit is a short walk (minutes) to everything from oceanfront fine dining to tiki bars with local fresh caught fish tacos. The unit was very comfortable for us. Any needs we had were responded to promptly. The unit provided all the equipment and tools we are used to having in our home kitchen to make gourmet meals to wine time snacks we enjoyed while watching daily glorious sunsets on our balcony watching the waves crash into the lava rocks directly below us. Great vacation

We enjoyed our stay a lot. The balcony with sea views was the main thing for us. But other than that, the place was clean; the kitchen worked great, and we were happy about everything.

Aaaamazing! Impeccable view. Walking distance to town (5-7min). Plenty of beach accessories- boogie boards, chairs, umbrella, cooler. Had everything we need on vacation. The only thing that was an issue is the microwave is too small for the square plates provided @ the rental. The only ones that fit in the microwave are round and a little bigger than a saucer plate. I recommend a larger microwave or provide round plates. Definitely not a game changer. Loved the location. Would stay here again. Our parking spot was right below the condo. Up the stairs & your home. No long walking distances. Easy entry makes coming & going a breeze! Loved it!!

Perfection with one BIG flaw

AMAZING location! Walking distance to Kona Village, spectacular sunsets, waves crashing loudly just below us. Very quiet (except for the apparent National Irish Step Dancing Team above us). Yes, it was dated, but in a quaint way. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. The flaw? No central AC, just two very loud floor units blowing hot air onto the lanai. The BIGGEST charm of the place were those waves, which you could hear even through closed windows, but not if you were running the AC. Fix the AC and we'd be back.

Great spot close to restaurants, shops, harbour to swim

Amenities offered were great. We did not take advantage of them. Simple travellers and just went to the ocean to swim everyday.
