A Slice of Paradise in Kailua!My wife and I spent an entire month at this incredible plantation-style house, and it exceeded all our expectations. The location is absolutely perfect, just a stone's throw from what we believe is one of the best beaches in the United States.We nicknamed it "The Plantation House" for its magnificent wrap-around lanai on the second floor. This porch, complete with rocking chairs, was our favorite spot to enjoy breathtaking views of Kailua Beach and spectacular sunsets every single night. We even had a front-row seat for the Marine base airshow!The trade winds flowing through the house provided natural and blissful cooling. The downstairs 'Ohana was fabulous for our guests, and we were blown away by how well the house was stocked. From beach toys, canoes, and paddleboards to surfboards and every supply you could need, they have thought of everything.Lastly, the hosts, Virginia and Dan, were wonderful. They were attentive and handled any request promptly. Dan even kindly took our trash and recyclables out on the scheduled days—a touch above and beyond that we truly appreciated. The ample trash and recycling bins were also a very practical plus.We cannot recommend this property highly enough for a wonderful and complete Kailua vacation. We would return in a heartbeat.

Wonderful Host and Amazing Home with Incredible Views!

Many times when you look at a listing, the photos online look better than when you actually arrive. However, in this case, the photos online looked amazing and seeing them in person completely exceeded our expectations. The home was wonderful and the views. . . the views were breathtaking. We were so close to the beach, we woke up to the sounds of the waves crashing and went to sleep at night with the sounds of waves crashing. We absolutely loved staying at this home and the amenities that were available for our use. It really added to our experience. I also have to mention how impressed I was with Virginia our host. Prior to our arrival we were communicating about when our flights were coming in and she was so gracious to allow us an earlier check-in which made it so much more comfortable than driving around with our luggage waiting for our check-in time. Not to mention, she was there at the house to make sure we were able to get into the home without an issue and gave us a personal tour of the home to ensure we had everything we needed and showed us where everything was located. This personal touch and attention really stood out and impressed us. Finally when it came to checking out, our flight was later in the day and Virginia was again gracious to allow us a later than planned check out so that we could spend one last morning at the most beautiful beach that is in front of the home. It was truly an amazing and memorable vacation and we will definitely be back!

Phenomenal house and location

We had an extended family vacation consisting of kids, parents, and grandparents. This property cannot be beat. The house, the views, and the location are simply spectacular. The house is such high quality and luxurious but comfortable and homey too. Lots of spaces to gather together, or get away for some quiet time. The house is well appointed in all the key areas..kitchen, dining, garage, laundry, bathrooms. The hosts have literally thought of everything, from the rockers on the front of the wrap around porch to enjoy the beautiful views, to the assortment of water toys, chairs, towels, coolers, etc, to enjoy the beaches, to the assortment of kitchen appliances, tools, spices and condiments on hand. The location of the house is amazing, steps from the beach with beautiful views from the house. But besides that, the town of Kailua is an awesome place to be if you want to be far enough from the crowds of Waikiki but still close enough to visit when you want. There were just so many nice touches within the property that I’m unable to mention them all. But worth noting, after a long day of travel, we dreaded having to jump out of bed to get groceries b4 having a morning cup of coffee. To our surprise they had everything we needed to have our morning coffee before heading out. We will definitely be back and look forward to staying at this property again!

Ideal Summer R&R

We absolutely loved our stay here in Kailua. The property was even better than described. Dan and Virginia were stellar hosts, made sure we had everything we needed, and provided us with a perfect setting to rest, relax, and recharge at the end of summer. There is truly every outdoor toy anyone could need, all indoor conveniences too, and the location can’t be beat. Plenty of space for our large family to spread out. We will miss sipping coffee while enjoying the sunrise over the ocean and our daily boogie boarding with our kids. If you have the opportunity to stay here, you will not regret it. We hope to be back ourselves.

Amazing vacation

This home and the owners were fantastic. We had such a memorable vacation here. They had everything that we needed and more. We immediately felt at home. Played hard, relaxed hard, laughed a lot and just really enjoyed our family in this lovely beach front setting.

Amazing stay in Kailua!

If possible, Dan & Virginia's home is even better than it looks! The location and views can't be beat, the house is appointed for anything you could want at the the beach, and the hosts were communicative and easy to work with from start to finish. We even cooked Thanksgiving dinner in the house - often a challenge in a rental! - and the kitchen has everything we needed and more! Overall, our time in Kailua was incredible and made all the better for staying in this beautiful home. We will absolutely be back!

Beachside Perfection

I can’t imagine a better place to vacation on Oahu. Kailua is a charming town on the Windward side of Oahu a world away from the madhouse of Waikiki, but with everything you could want or need available. The property is exceptional in every way. Located on gorgeous Kailua Beach, this home is equipped with every beach toy, ( even kites to take advantage of the trade winds ) yard games, and has a manicured tropical garden with lounge and beach chairs, tables and a charming swing for two. The house is immaculate, and provisioned with absolutely everything you could possibly need. And the wraparound lanai with the rocking chairs positioned to view sunrises, moon over the Bay, and the daily beach walkers— heaven! The hosts, Virginia and Dan, are very responsive and accommodating. If there were 10 stars available to rate this exceptional home, I would give it 11! We can’t wait to return to our new “happy place”.

Outstanding Kailua Vacation

We've stayed at this property four times now. It exceeds all expectations. Virginia and Dan are attentive, thoughtful hosts who stock the house with everything you need for a beach vacation -- from a well-stocked kitchen to tons of beach and water toys to ample towels and sunscreen. The view from the living room is hard to beat. We can't wait to return. Thank you, Virginia and Dan once again!

ABSOLUTE HEAVEN

I have stayed at many rental homes in Kailua but this one was the best!! The home is spacious and clean and well stocked with anything you might need including bikes, surf boards, boogie boards, SUPs, kayaks, snorkel gear and more. Virginia and Dan were wonderful to work with. Highly recommend!! Oh... did I mention the view? WOW!!

Paradise in pandemic

Perfect Beach House

The location of this house could not be more perfect! It was beyond expectation in its cleanliness, amenities, and convenience. Everything you could possibly want for your vacation was right there. Dan and Virginia have thought of every detail to make you comfortable. This house is a big slice of paradise and we recommend it highly to anyone who wants to be on Oahu, but not in Honolulu. Kailua is a great vacation spot and this house is all you could ever ask for!

Outstanding location on a perfect beach

You really cannot find a better location on Oahu. Everything about the home and the neighborhood makes you feel like you are part of the local culture from the first day. And, of course, the owner makes a big difference, being attentive and helpful while still ensuring you have the privacy and relaxation you came for. Thank you for a fantastic vacation.

Absolutely Wonderful Home. In Every Way. Kailua Beach, Beach Access, Privacy, Views, Accessories

This is an an amazing property location with simple access to Kailua town, Honolulu, and anywhere on the island. Kailua Beach is unsurpassed and this house sits as close to the beach as any house and about in the middle of the 2.5 mile sand beach. The house fits the beach well. It is designed as a beach house and looks good from the beach and fits with and is furnished well to reflect Hawaii and beach living. Enjoy incredible 180 degree views from the upstairs lanai that will take your breath away. A wide lanai with loungers and rockers so you can sit and enjoy the ocean all day and night. Also a upstairs lanai teak outdoor table for BBQ and relaxing. The owner's hobby is orchids and there are lots of beautiful plants spread inside the rooms. The yard is well landscaped and supplied with teak lounger's, teak picnic tables/chairs, umbrellas, and tiki lights. The wonderfully soft lawn leads directly to the beach. Outdoor hot & cold shower, coconut trees, and lots of plants. Ground floor master bedroom and upstairs master, queen, and twin bedrooms give lots of privacy and yet will bring your family together with the best of fun. Everything is 1st Class. Dishes, towels, bedding, supplies, beach accessories, yard toys, landscaping and more. Nothing has been overlooked or forgotten and everything was in good condition and ready for use. Thank you so much for sharing. The only thing you didn't do...make our week long enough.

Home away from home in Kailua

This home was perfect for our 3 generation family! The teenagers tried out all the beach and ocean equipment which is saying a lot considering how much gear was available. Beautiful ocean views any time of day. Kailua is just the right size, plenty of stores but laid back and not too big for getting around. The Sunday farmers market was great for fruits and vegetables. The owners were welcoming and helpful. We're already talking about our next trip staying here.

Great Kailua Beach House

Incredible views, beach just a few steps away, huge yard. Very comfortable, roomy true beach house, well provisioned. More than enough beach toys, chairs, towels, etc. for all to enjoy. Perfect place for us to celebrate a special birthday that included 7 adults and a 15 month old. Dan and Virginia are most gracious and accommodating owners/hosts,. There was some construction on a house next door but it in no way interfered with our stay. The only regret we have is that the week of our stay went by way tooo quickly.

Want a house vacation on the beach - this is it!

This is the ideal location if you are looking for a Hawaiian house vacation. It is on an all sand beach that extends for miles in both directions. A breeze that keeps the bugs away and the temperature comfortable. Walking distance to groceries (Whole Foods and Foodland). As well as Island Snow for shave ice - an absolute must. The house is surprisingly well stocked. First aid kit, outdoor shower, laundry soap, beach towels, beach toys. They had two air mattresses for the 2 & 4 year olds. Plenty of books for them too. Oh, and instructions for opening coconuts from coconut trees on property. That was great fun for the 4 year old to see. There is a house being built next door. During our ten day stay the noise was bothersome for a short period one afternoon. It did not impact our vacation at all. Our thanks to Dan, the owner, for a family vacation we will always treasure. Aloha!

Excellent home, Perfect location, Fully stocked & would without hesitation recommend and return

Went for 7 nights in late March '19 from the east coast US. This is an EXCELLENT home for a big family vacation. 2 separate living areas are very helpful for times when sleeping children or whoever need some space. Wait until you see the view from the upstairs living area. Took our breath away when seeing the electric blue-green water and 180 deg view of the bay and Mokes for the first time (and each time after). It really is a spectacular view that never gets old. The home is stocked to the brim with all the items you need on vacation. Just show up with your own clothes, shop for food upon arrival, and everything else is there already. Little things like stacks of to-go coffee cups with lids, paper plates, solo cups, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, coffee filters, etc. are all there waiting for you. There are like 10 sun hats, spare sunglasses and headstraps, sun lotions, dozens and dozens of bath and beach towels, etc. The 3 kits, 3 SUPs, 6 boogie and 2 surf boards, 5 water shoe sets, 6 snorkel mask sets, 6 Kayaks and even 3 or 4 WET SUITS are all right there for your enjoyment. 4 Bikes there as well to ride into town just 4 or 5 blocks away. The owners and this place are impressive in every way. Has a well manicured grass yard around the house which is great for lounging when done with the beach for the day. Outdoor shower (no walls/curtain) also is nice to have for sandy bodies and feet. We will book this home again if we return to Oahu. It is a perfect vacation home. Only reason 4.5 not 5 stars is we weren't told there is home construction taking place directly next door (remember the open windows all the time since no A/C - which is not needed at all FYI). WITH THAT SAID it seemed like a genuine mistake and the owner made amends, was very responsive to the situation, acknowledged fault right away and took care of us. Everything turned out fine/great. Any other minor questions/issues we had were addressed immediately. I would highly recommend this owner, house, location, everything. It is 5 star in every way as long as you don't required marble bathrooms and such. I like a place you can come in a little dirty from playing and feel comfortable - not worried that you are messing it up. We loved it. I don't know how else to word it any better. Thanks Dan and thanks Kailua. We fell in love.

Hawaii at its best

This was our third time staying at Dan and Virginia’s beautiful Kailua home, and hopefully not our last. The location is extraordinary - right on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Dan and Virginia outfit the house with everything all ages need to have fun from lawn games to boogie boards to board games. And they are wonderful owners who take great pride and care of their home. Piece of paradise

We had an amazing time here. The location is great. Set on a picturesque white sand beach where the kids played and seam for hours and adults took long walks. The waves are perfect for boogie boarding and the house came stocked with every equipment imaginable. When the kids got bored of being on the beach, we walked back to the house and enjoyed the soft grass yard with games, loungers, etc. Daniel and Virginia were wonderful hosts. Aside from giving us plenty of recommendations, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was in working order. We can’t wait to come back next year. This place is really special.
