Unfortunately we were unable to schedule the repair sooner due to the technician’s schedule. We have also ensured that all the sinks in the bathroom are unclogged and draining smoothly. We will be regularly checking the sinks to make sure that they are draining properly and will leave some Drano in the unit for use in case. We take great pride in our condo and provide quality furnishings and décor to give guests a great Hawaiiana feel. Thank you for providing us with feedback on you stay. We’re very disappointed that the condo did not meet high standard of cleanliness that we strive to provide for our guests. Since then, we have arranged for our cleaners to do a deep cleaning of the entire condo. They have also scrubbed that cleaned the grout on all the floor spaces with a commercial grout stain remover. We have recently changed cleaning staff and will speak with them to be sure that, in the future, our home is spotless. We appreciate your valuable feedback. We have replaced the fan in the bedroom with a brand new one. We tested the living room fan and it was working fine. Thanks so much for taking the time to review our property. I just popped over to the condo and there are two sets of masks/snorkels in great condition and ready for your enjoyment. Also upon inspection, all dishes/mugs/glasses were all washed and ready for use. Aloha

We are located in a condominium development and there will be noise from neighbors from time to time. There is a unit on the second floor with a dog. I spoke with owners, and they strongly deny the claim made in the guest’s review that they dog sit and/or board cats. Further, all animals are required to be registered with the Resident Manager, for personal purposes only and this is strictly enforced by the association. We have never received a guest complaint about dogs. However, if there is any kind of noise issue, or an issue that involves the community, guests are encouraged to call security, which is available 24/7 and can address such concerns. It was unfortunate that the roofs and pool were being power-washed and this was just bad timing. It is something that only happens every 10 years and was completely out of our control. However, it is also an indication that the Kuilima Estate association continuously maintains the property grounds, and you will find a beautifully maintained, attractive community to spend your vacation. Regarding the AC — I inspected the unit after the guest complaint. A mat under the AC was damp, but not excessively so. A service call was made to our AC maintenence person who confirmed upon inspection that the dampness was a result of continual and excessive use of the AC unit, and that actually the AC is in good working condition. Excessive AC use causes build-up of condensation and the AC drip-pan may overflow. We post notifications asking our guests NOT to overuse the AC for this reason, and also because of high energy prices in Hawaii. Generally, guests are very conscientious, and this has not been an issue before, or since this guest’s review. Wendy

It was quite a shock to receive this review. Upon reading the review below, I went over to the condo to look into the concerns. There were 4 nicely folded beach towels in the bedroom closet, the fan had been set to the correct direction but a renter had changed this. All it took was a quick pull on the chain and the direction was changed. If this renter had of called me, I could have rectified this concern immediately. Upon inspection of all screens - they are all in good condition and not in any need for repair of any kind. The wall damage he is referring to is a little bit of paint peeling off the wall where the futon hits the wall if it is not pulled out from the wall before converting to a bed. The wall is not damaged in any way and we do touch up the paint on a regular basis.

We appreciate the feedback. We take great pride in our condo, and it’s never pleasant hearing that a guest had a less than fulfilling stay. Regarding towels, these are freshly machine washed and dried after every guest’s stay. We have not received complaints about the towels, nor about the AC and fan. Upon inspection, they appear to be working perfectly and the towels smell “normal.” Regarding the guests’ complaint about “bugs in the bathroom,” we do regular pest control. Unfortunately, the North Shore of Oahu is located in the tropics, so sometimes insects will find their way into a home. Insect control is a constant battle as anyone who lives in Hawaii will report. It’s true to some extent that you “get what you pay for.” Down the road, the Turtle Bay Resort offers spacious Beach Cottages which offer a large sleeping area, kitchen, and one bathroom. The off season rate is approx. 4-5 times higher per night + taxes and resort fee, and closer to 6 times higher per night in high season .

Unfortunately, on the North Shore there are a couple of spots with no cell phone reception. There will be times when someone calls from the gate and I do not receive the call. I could be driving around Waimea, up Pupukea or just in the shower. While this is rare, it does happen from time to time. The directions do state, that if this does happen - to park on the side and walk into the complex and grab the swiper to access the gate. Luckily, the condo is situated very close to the front gate and a very short walk. I recall getting a message from this guest that he was at the gate. I returned his call a little after 3pm, which bounced straight to voicemail. I called him back again at 5.30pm and he said all was good and that they have gained access to the property and condo.
