Location is nice

The property manager was nice and responsive. The view and location of the condo are fantastic. We’ve been staying at Kuleana for 10 years or so, however, and this condo was our least favorite. The lack of tlc and effort put into the condo is evident. The furniture is uncomfortable and worn, the bedding and linens are worn and could use updating.The owners appear to put little effort into the condo and appear to use items that they get from thrift stores for their guests. Upon our arrival the place appeared clean however the bottoms of our feet were dirty after walking barefoot on the floors, a bathroom drawer had hair in it, the stove top had food splatter and the smoke detector was beeping. Upon contacting the property manager housekeeping returned and cleaned up the aforementioned. Upon check out maintenance had yet to replace the battery in the smoke detector. Throughout our stay the condo had an odor to it which smelled like cigarette smoke and old gas, although the owners are non-smokers, reportedly. For the cost of renting this place; all of that is unacceptable. Although this is not the owner or property manager’s fault there was another renter that was very obnoxious for most of the nights we rented. He parked right below our bedroom window and would let his jeep idle for 20-30 minutes and would then rev his jeep’s engine every time he came and went from the property; waking us up (3 am) and disturbing the peace. We would not rent this condo again!

Meh

The condo is nice as described, but if you are wanting to sit on the patio and watch the whales, not likely. There is a large tree blocking your view (not the owners fault but I would have liked to know the view was "obstructed"). Great for turtle watching however. My email to the property owner about switching to another unit went unanswered, as did my message prior to our arrival inquiring if the unit had beach chairs, cooler, etc. (It did which was appreciated, but we ALMOST bought all that at Costco when we landed). We've stayed at Kuleana several times including when our kids were young. Not so family friendly anymore. There are a couple full-timers that call security for the slightest noise - security banged on our door 2 minutes after quiet hours because we were talking on our deck. Four 70-year olds playing a dice game beside the pool were told by security to "roll the dice quieter". Kuleana must be Hawaiian for "No fun allowed". We still love it and MIGHT return, but not until exploring other options first.

Incredible View!

This was our 3rd time staying at Kuleana, in 3 different condos. We always have a wonderful time! Unit 716 had an incredible view on the south end of the property. We watched whales jumping and turtles frolicking right from our patio! This property is always so quiet and the people so friendly. As always, the grounds and pool are meticulously maintained. We look forward to returning!

A Little Slice of Heaven!

We really really enjoyed our stay at the Kuleana Resort! This condo is super clean, and looks out to the little beach which is so pretty (like a postcard!)! My only complaint was lack of AC in the living room/kitchen area. We survived it and we were out exploring so much we really didn’t spend much time in the condo anyway. The bedroom is very cool and comfortable! I would absolutely stay here again and felt we made a great choice! It is close to everything ( shopping, Front Street (very cool place to eat and shop!) Mahalo for everything! 🌸🌺🌼🏄‍♂️⛱

Relaxing Getaway

Kuleana Resort is definitely a gem in my book. Stayed here with my mother-in law and 4yr. old son. Unit 716 itself is clean and cozy; nothing too fancy, but you’re in Maui everything outside is beautiful enough so leave your complaining for another day. Located in a great area with nearby shopping and playground for little ones, a bus stop right in front of the resort if you really needed. Waking up to the view of the ocean everyday couldn’t have been better. The sounds of waves crashing was so peaceful and relaxing. The unit is well stocked with all essentials, extra pillows and blankets, plenty of towels and toiletries, including blender, toaster, and all cooking, baking dishes and utensils in the kitchen.(except spices, but we figured) even had some boogie boards and nice beach chairs to take down to the property’s cozy sandy beach. The AC unit is located in the bedroom and acted as a great sound machine for my little guy. My MIL said the pullout couch was quite comfortable, no complaints. We wish the unit would have had some sort of drying rack for towels and swim wear at the end of each day for outside on the patio since there was a perfect breeze to dry them all, however the patio chairs did the same job okay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here very much and can’t wait to return! Mahalo for the lovely home away from home 😊 -Angelina

Anniversary stay

Clean and beautiful, peaceful with a breathtaking view. We could stay again and recommend this little slice of paradise. Lost only two stars only with Communication to property manager related to questions we had regarding television issues. But overall it was an amazing stay 😊

Beautiful property, unsatisfactory condo

This is the third time I’ve completed this request to complete a review for VRBO, perhaps the company is waiting for something different to be submitted. The bottom line, the Kuleana property is wonderful. The staff was very nice and the exterior of the property was meticulously maintained. The condo has a big problem, plain and simple. We dealt with it as best as we could until I had enough and went to management. 72 hours later, there was a small ant trap laid on the bathroom sink by maintenance. Not enough attention was thrown at the problem, but we were on vacation and intended to stay outside the majority of our stay. Sleep with one eye open, don’t drop even a crumb on the floor, and if you like to relax- don’t choose this condo, you likely will not want to shower or get a good night sleep.

Great place to stay in Maui!

This is a great property and my husband and I really enjoyed our weeklong stay with you. The location is great with a beach down below the unit and the view is incredible. It's a short 10-15 minute drive to the Whaler's Village and other great restaurants and activities. The unit itself is comfortable and even though it's a little older, the furnishings were older but are in good shape and clean. It could really use some window coverings in the living room to block out the setting sun and for more privacy. The unit comes with a good assortment of kitchenware and appliances, and standard paper products, however you need to supply your own coffee & filters, spices, etc. For the price and location, you can't beat this! This is a real gem as far as an affordable place to rent in Maui. We look forward to returning to this great property next year!

Excellent Location

We loved our stay here! It is small and perfect for two people. It is right on the beach and we saw sea turtles every day. Such an amazing experience. The apartment was clean and had everything that we need. Staying here was a dream. It was an end unit with no one on top of us. We never heard the person below or next to us. Would 100% book this unit again.

Can’t beat the location and price

Comfortable for our family of three. Basic amenities and great location. At the time of our stay there were two well-loved beach chairs available and two beach towels in the unit. I would recommend bringing or purchasing a few extra beach towels as they may not dry overnight for next day use.

First timer in Maui

We would recommend it without hesitation. The fact that only the bedroom had A/C (and the very noisy type as well) was certainly a drawback but in the end the other benefits overcompensated it.

Beach front condo with a lovely view-

The best part of staying in this condo was the location and the view. The king size bed was comfortable. The couch needs to be replaced. We were a bit put off that there was black mold in the shower. There was a steak knife and a large dull knife for meal prep and coffee cups that were stained and scratched inside. We ended up buying or own cups. The condo came with only two beach towels ( for the whole week) and only two beach chairs-no ice chest, umbrella or boogie board. There was no washer/dryer. The condo had nice tile work but much of the grout was dirty and poorly maintained. The condo is managed by the Kuleana office. We spoke to the manager later in our stay and she seemed to be all about excuses. When we invited her to come to the condo and see the issues herself, she sent housekeeping. I wouldn’t recommend renting this condo because it is not well maintained and the bare minimum was provided.

GREAT Location, nice property but....

The unit is nice overall. The kitchen could use an update and the pots, pans, etc and especially the Blender.... are VERY old. We were happy until we found 2 cockroaches in the unit...one in our bed which grossed us out and another in the bathroom....first time I have ever seen one. Thanks!

Perfection!

We fell in love with Kuleana Resort, and unit 716. It was the perfect hideaway for a quiet, relaxing vacation. The unit was exactly as described. It was warm in the living room, without air conditioning, but we managed. The beach is quiet, relaxing and beautiful. The sunsets are amazing from the lawn. We enjoyed grilling meals, at sunset.

Maui get away

First off, getting to the property was nice until we signed in at the office and they didn't have our reservations! Big panic moment for us. When that was taken care of, we went to our unit and with no a/c in the main room it was real bad staying in the living room and trying to sleep. The sofa bed was so bad my back ached the whole week I was there. No way could 2 people sleep on that. the best thing about our unit was that it was right no the beach. other then that, it wasn't that great.
