Aston Kaanapali Shores is near the north edge of Kaanapali beach, just a few properties north of where the big beach and walking trail end (or begin), but with easy connector paths to get to the classic beach walk. This causes the property to feel just a tiny bit off the beaten path and perhaps just a tiny bit more secluded than all the busy and expensive resorts to the south. We loved that and thought the location was perfect. The vibe there is chill, not busy or crowded and perhaps a tiny touch of quaint. The hula dancing lessons, live music in the evenings playing to a small crowd in the pool and hottub, and lighting of tiki torches at sunset each evening all add to that touch of quaintness and make for a wonderful chill and relaxed atmosphere. Just what we wanted! The beach was kinda small and underwater at high tide, but the property next door has a nice beach all the time. We snorkeled right off the property, ate and got drinks at the on-site restaurant and bar, and thought the grounds were gorgeous. Groceries across the street, food truck park next door, fish market down the street with great grills to cook on. You get the sense that we really enjoyed this place!
The unit itself was just as expected - in good condition, well furnished, clean and well outfitted. Second floor location 3 units down from the ocean and right across from the more adult pool and restaurant makes this an ideal location in the resort. We spent many hours sitting on the balcony eating meals, drinking, playing games, staring at the ocean and just taking it all in. It is pretty amazing to see the ocean from pretty much every place in the condo, well expect the bathroom. Lol.
Master bedroom bed is comfy and spacious. My adult daughter and I shared that bed all week with plenty of space. Made an attempt to sleep on the pull out sofa bed, but like happens so often as I age more (51 now) I find it harder and to get comfortable on them. This is no fault or defect of what’s there - I’m sure its fine and normal and even had a thicker mattress than most. It just doesn’t work for me - I’d leave that kind of bedding to the youngens now.
Access was easy, clear, convenient and well thought out. Communication with the owner was outstanding, even helped us receive an emergency shipment of contact lenses.
