  • The Cabin at Big Elkin Creek Farm is a true oasis, tucked away in the foothills of NC. A genuine log home built in the 1800's, it is a fully furnished and completely updated. Located in the center of a beautiful 85-acre farm, the cabin is ideal as a couple's getaway, or perfect for families of up to six who would like to experience a taste of early pioneer days. Guests can enjoy wooded walking trails, farm animals, fishing in the pond, cozying up to the woodstove, or a simple sunrise from the rocking chairs on the front porch. Guests can choose the solitude of the farm, visit the nearby historic town and Yadkin Valley wineries, or take in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway and North Carolina State Parks just minutes away. Big Elkin Creek Farm is a memorable journey into what makes North Carolina great!

If you're looking for a unique, rustic, quiet place and have an appreciation for farm animals, this is certainly a place worthy of your consideration. Be aware that they do not allow you to bring pets of any kind because of the potential clash with their own critters. Barbara, the hostess, is very cordial and eager to share her local knowledge to maximize your experience within the community. Being New Hampshire residents, we stayed 3 nights in June and loved the whole laid-back, rural experience. Check this place out if you're looking for that kind of vibe.

Beautiful location, peaceful. Beds are comfortable, soft TP, but stairs were a challenge for us older folks (no handrail). Provided fresh eggs, cereal, and jam for breakfast. Very quiet except for the frogs at night. Beautiful songs birds. It's a nice change.

My husband and I had the best time! This was an anniversary getaway, but will now become a regular spot we visit. The hosts were absolutely amazing people. We enjoyed visiting/feeding the animals on the farm, picking tulips at the flower farm around the corner and visiting the winery and Amish general store they suggested we visit. The cabin is perfect for a quiet escape and cozy atmosphere! We cannot wait to stay there again this winter when we can use the fire burning stove!

The cabin is from the late 1800's and it was a great place to visit and unwind for the weekend. Great wineries around the area and the owners are super sweet!! They have horses, goats, ducks, and a really sweet dog on the premises.

The home is a beautifully restored log cabin and has many nice amenities and was very clean. Especially enjoyed the wood burner in the living room! The host - Barbara- met us at the door and explained everything. We enjoyed the local wineries and restaurants. Highly recommend this place!

Fantastic Cabin in Elkin

This was an amazing getaway. Barbara and Chirs are great hosts. The cabin and setting are absolutely perfect. I look forward to coming back to this property. I highly recommend staying here if you have the opportunity.

Everything about this stay exceeded our expectations. The cabin is exactly as advertised a beautifully preserved 19th century structure sitting on an 85-acre farm. The setting is genuinely picturesque, and we felt more relaxed simply by being there. The fireplace was an unexpected highlight. Visiting in May, I wasn’t sure we’d be able to use it, but it was rainy and unseasonably cool. There was firewood provided, and all tools for tending to the fire [we forgot to clean out the ashes before we left so, maybe keep that in mind]. The location was great not only for the tranquility, but also the proximity to essentially all wineries in the area, as well as downtown Elkin, which was significantly more vibrant that I had assumed. The location made it very easy to access hiking trails and a state park. Would recommend.

So Peaceful!

This farm is perfect for couples and/or families. It’s our favorite place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We’ve been coming here for years and never get tired of it.

This was a wonderful location for a quick getaway with the family. The house was cozy and our 4 year old loved seeing/feeding all the animals! We will be returning again in the future!

Barbara and Chris are the consummate hosts. From check in to check out, going out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The cabin was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had a wonderful time and we look forward to returning.

Fantastic experience!

Barbara is an excellent host! She is so authentic in her desire to make your stay at this beautiful place special! Right in the middle of wine country, this cozy cabin is the perfect escape. Make sure to ask her to meet the sweet animals and for restaurant recommendations!

Wonderful getaway

Barbara and Chris could NOT have been more hospitable! They told us great places to visit and restaurants to check out. We toured their farm and got to feed and pet the horses, plus the Russian geese she had were beautiful. I would DEFINITELY stay here again, in fact, we are planning a trip back here in the fall!

Very pretty and peaceful location. The host are down to earth folks and were very gracious. The cabin is rustic...no WiFi/cable but a good selection of DVD's/games/puzzles.If you like to fish, bring a pole! My daughter and I go annually to Elkin/Mt Airy to visit the Autumn Leaves Festival and the various wineries, in the area. Glad we stayed here, this year. Will probably book again, next year.

The cabin was perfect. Beautiful yard and pins, ducks greeted us daily. We loved sitting on the porch rocking chairs. I only wish I had more time to spend there.

Peaceful and Wonderful Cabin

We absolutely loved our stay here! The cabin was so cute, cozy, and clean. The grounds were pretty. It was really relaxing sitting on the porch watching the wildlife and petting the kitty. It was close to several wineries and downtown Elkin. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. We can’t wait to stay there again!
