We loved our stay at "Villa Mamilla." The house is as beautiful as in the pictures. The house is about 200 years old and has tremendous character. The roof deck is huge and very comfortable. It easily accommodated 18 people for lunch. Each bedroom has a full en suite bathroom, which is a major plus. There are no separate bathrooms, which means that visitors have to use one of the bathrooms in a bedroom. Keep in mind that each bedroom has to be accessed from the outside: two rooms are accessed from the downstairs courtyard, and one room is accessed from the roof deck. It was fine for us because we were there in the summer, but it might be a concern for people staying here in the winter.
The location is excellent. The house is a 15-20 minute walk to the Jaffa Gate through the open air Mamilla Mall. A good grocery store is walking distance away. It's also a comfortable 15-20 minute walk, or very short car ride, to different areas with restaurants.
We have only three minor caveats to our review. 1. The property manager didn't confirm the details for gaining access to the property until the day before our arrival. I would have been more relaxed if this had been sorted a few days earlier. However, we were very grateful that the property manager accommodated our early check-in. 2. The house had almost no extra supplies for our stay. We found maybe a couple rolls of toilet paper, but we had to purchase all of the paper products and basic cooking items, such as olive oil and salt and pepper. 3. The bathrooms are a little dated and awkward in size, although the one in the room on the roof is larger and more modern than the other two.
These three caveats were minor compared to the overall beauty and location of the property, which is why we're giving a five star rating. I mention these points because some people might expect a luxury bathroom with a five-star property.
We loved the house, and our guests also found it to be spectacular. We highly recommend Villa Mamilla, and we would stay there, again. Thank you!
