ReviewWe booked this 2-night stay to celebrate my husband’s and son’s birthdays and to give our three little Shih Tzus a chance to enjoy some time in the water. When we booked, there were no reviews yet, so we were a little hesitant, but we chose this property because the river looked shallow and safe for our dogs.Overall, we had a wonderful family getaway and made some great memories. The river is definitely the best part of this property. The water was only about knee- to lower-thigh-deep, incredibly clear, and the current was gentle enough to safely enjoy with our family and dogs. We brought river tubes and spent a lot of time floating and playing in the water. The water was surprisingly cold despite the very hot weather, so our dogs were a little hesitant to get in—but the adults had a great time! 😊 The property also felt very private and peaceful, with no neighboring homes directly across from it, which made it a perfect place to escape from our busy daily lives. There are, however, a few important things future guests should know. The tap water had a strong sulfur smell throughout the house, including both the hot and cold water. We ended up driving about 16 miles to a small grocery store to buy bottled water and used it for drinking, cooking, and brushing our teeth. Because of the sulfur odor, we would have preferred to avoid showering if possible, but after spending time in the river, we needed to rinse off. Unfortunately, the experience was not very pleasant because of the persistent smell. Also, there is no cell service at the property. We use both Verizon and T-Mobile, and neither had a signal. Wi-Fi was available, so this is something to keep in mind if you need phone service.Communication before check-in could also have been better. I contacted the property contact by email and text over the two days before our arrival but didn’t receive a response, so I eventually had to contact Evolve customer service. After that, communication was smooth, but we would have appreciated a response from the beginning.Despite these few issues, we truly enjoyed our stay. The peaceful setting and beautiful river gave our family a wonderful opportunity to relax, celebrate, and spend quality time together. Just be sure to come prepared for the sulfur-smelling water and lack of cell service!
