Lakehouse getaway

Me and 11 friends got together for our annual vacation at this house and it was perfect! Plenty of space and things to do and right on the water!

perfect place for a large group

This is our 2nd time to stay at this home. It is perfect for large groups with lots of options to sleep. It is located in a cove so the kids had a great time swimming and floating out to the main Lake. It has a feel like "home"...not stuffy at all..Kind of like you are staying at your Grandma's awesome lake home. We will definitely be back again.

My children, grandchildren, and I met for a family outing. The owners of the property owners were very cordial and provided well for our needs. The property was clean and neat.

FUN IN THE SUN AT GRAMPS GETAWAY

Lots of fun on the lake ! We really enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and just chilling in the lake. We have a large family ages 6 months to 60 years old - 10 adults & 7 kids . The house is very spacious and there was room for all. We had everything we needed. We had a few questions and the owners were very quick to respond. We hope we can plan another trip to Gramps Getaway.

Outdated

The house is a little outdated, showers were nasty in two of the baths, water backs up in the shower in master bedroom/bath ,there was still wet clothes in the dryer when we got there . No lighting outside for night time use, Bedding was dirty on all beds. Plumbing needs to be updated.

The home is very dated. Water depth for boat is not good only 4 1/2 feet. The house was not very clean. The air condition was very nice and cool.

Great Christmas for all the family!

The house was super clean! We had room for everyone to have a bed! It was a perfect gathering place for our family and a few pets! We had all our meals at the house. Kitchen was well equipped! One suggestion if you plan to cook. Bring your own knifes for preparation of food! If we ever gather as a total family again, we would rent this place again. The host was great to respond! Merry Christmas to everyone!

This house was good for our family gathering. The house was in good working order. They had enough blankets and towels for all the guests. There were plenty of plates, pots, pans, utensils, etc. It was winter so the lake was low and did not come up to the house. But it was too cold for water activities anyway. They supply very little toilet paper (that was the most annoying for us), so it is important to bring your own. Bring your own trash bags too.

Met our needs but needs some TLC

First let me start by saying we had a wonderful time at our family vacation! The kayaks and outdoor amenities were very much appreciated and utilized. That said, most of the items that need attention are things that the owners may not have been aware of or are beyond their control. I am recording them here so that as this property changes hands, these things may be addressed. Things that need attention:WiFi is in/out (we brought our own mobile internet to work around this)Outdoor table could use a good cleaningOven doesn’t heat wellOnly one side of the grill outside was functional Downstairs daybed is broken and is not level and/or sleep-able as a result.Broken towel bar in bathroom that is attached to downstairs king room.Mold/mildew on all shower curtains (these could likely just be replaced)Things found under beds:- hair clip- Used disposable razor- Socks- iPhone charging blockLeft in kids bathroom (downstairs full bath nearest daybed) drawer:- alcoholic beverage (half full “four loco pregame” bottle)Downstairs half bath toilet doesn’t flush well.

Wonderful Getaway

Gramps Getaway was really wonderful! We have a big family and were all incredibly comfortable at this house on the lake! We rented a boat and loved using the home's kayak and paddleboards. We sat around the fire pit and listened to music and watched the fireflies! It was just awesome! They provide towels!!! That's HUGE for out-of-towners!!! Can't wait to go back!

great home for a large group

The house was perfect for our large group of teenagers. There was plenty of space for everyone to sleep. Lots of room for outdoor gatherings and a great location on the water. I would highly recommend for large groups.

Family reunion

It is a very good stay for young people with children. The lake side is a safe place for children. My husband and I are in our 80s and the stairs were a problem for us but I would go again. We had 20 in our group and we were comfortable.

Awesome Getaway House

The house is plenty spacious for bigger families and all the necessities were provided! The dock and lake were awesome! We enjoyed our stay so much on Lake Martin! Thankful for Gramps Getaway! Just a thought but a second fridge in the basement would be very helpful.

Ahh-Mazing!

I hesitated on leaving a review because I would prefer for this to be a well kept secret! But that wouldn’t be fair to the owners of this fabulous home! We came to Jackson’s Gap for a mini family reunion to celebrate a college graduation for my son and his fiancé. There are just not enough words to express what an awesome time that we had! The house was beyond perfect - plenty of room for the 19 of us and beyond comfortable. The view was incredible and there was something for everyone to enjoy - whether it was just hanging out on the deck or venturing into the water. My family wants to make this an annual trip, so we are hopeful that you all won’t book our preferred dates 😂. Thanks to Toni, our property contact, for being so responsive to my questions and making some great suggestions for our stay. You cannot go wrong with this property!
