Property was fine, The grounds need a good maintenance team to look after the place it's mostly overgrown and untidy, wanted to go fishing but this was impossible do to the overgrown weeds, grandson and myself only booked this for the fishing, will not be returning unless these issues have been addressed so sad this totally spoilt the holiday

An excellent and well appointed stay!

We absolutely loved staying in Gatehouse West... The property had everything a family needs and is super close to plenty of day trips.The indoor pool was lovely, the kids really enjoyed playing in it.Thanks so much, we'll certainly be back!

Highly recommend

Lovely property and complex. The property had everything we needed. It's was spotless and beautiful. The owners were so nice to deal with. I made a mistake with my booking & Sarah was so helpful. The complex has great facilities. We stayed on site a couple of days because it's beautiful and there was more than enough to entertain our kids. On the other days we didn't have beach weather its ideally located between Plymouth & Exeter for the bigger attractions.

Beautiful place to stay

We enjoy 2 weeks in this beautiful little place which is ideally situated close to lots of places to visit. The swimming pool provided many hours of happy swimming for my son. The cottage was comfortable with all we needed and in such a peaceful location.

Quiet location with great facilities

Great little cottage for our family with dog. Kids loved the pools even the outside one despite the cold air temperatures. Only wished there was a clothes airer which l could pop outside to dry wet beech stuff in the garden. Other than that it was well equipped.

It is a lovely property,warm and cosy. The grounds are lovely to walk around even in the rain. The indoor pool was great especially with a 9year who enjoyed the daily visits and the fact it was only for one family at a time

Lovely place beautiful surroundings

Cottage lovely next to outdoor pool which is magnificent warm and clean, the grounds are beautiful, we were lucky with weather so had BBQs. Only downside for us was my friend had an accident when returning from pool, tripped on stairs and ended up on Plymouth hospital with broken heel. 12 weeks unable to put weight on foot she was meant to be going to Greece next week, but all cancelled. But of course this was accident nothing to do with the lovely place

Lovely location

Colmer estate is well maintained and the indoor swimming is such a bonus out of season. Only downside on the location is that the roads between Modbury and A38 are so busy. The estate is teeming with wildlife. The owners are easy to contact and so helpful. Many thanks to them

Cosy, clean and comfortable!

A really lovely cottage in a great setting. Very well equipped and very clean, with great amenities - the indoor pool was very helpful as it rained a lot during our visit! We couldn't access the laundry (or contact the site manager) which was a bit of a shame, but this was a minor point and overall we loved the time we spent here.

Lovely Cottage in peaceful area

On going through the entrance to Colmer estate,it looked beautifully kept,however on closer inspection there were areas that could be improved ie the rubbish area. First impressions of Gatehouse West were on the outside slightly disappointing,there was a flower pot with a dead plant in it. The flower bed in the garden was full of weeds,even a thistle taller than me! The hedge and lawn were very well maintained,maybe as a keen gardener I’m being a bit picky! The inside of the cottage is lovely,very comfy and everything you needed for a holiday let. The beds were comfortable and the house immaculate.Good WiFi reception and television.A previous review saying it wasn’t dog friendly l would disagree with,we decided not to bring our dogs, but not because of the review. I think all restrictions are valid. A big plus point to the estate is the nearness of an excellent pub and Spar shop and is in near reach to plenty of beautiful places. In spite of it probably being the wetness week of the year we had a very enjoyable time and would recommend this property.

Lovely Stay

Lovely cottage set in peaceful surroundings, well equipped kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine available. Everything you would need for a self catering break. Warm and comfortable with a good size bathroom and excellent shower. Good reliable free WiFi. The grounds of the estate are beautiful and worth a walk around. Used the indoor pool, which was nice and quiet. Tennis court is very good, used several times, natural shelter from the wind and elements, outdoor pool was shut and locked which was fine (open in the summer months) although this means you can't access the table tennis table. The fishing lake is probable three quarters covered in reeds and weeds which leaves very little clear water to cast into, as a keen angler it was a hard fish. Overall would recommend the cottage as a great place to stay. Some of the facilities on the estate though need a bit of work.
