"Hi This place is great lots of birds at tree level and the his and hers showers are a nice touch. It's quite a walk up to some of the rooms so bear that in mind. The hotel restaurant is good and is also close to another new restaurant on the beach. The breakfast was great and the hosts were good. One the nicer places in drake bay but also slightly expensive, I will also mention the mosquito grills on the vents did let small flies in but I was at the start of the rainy season too. "Consider this more of a rustic camping-like experience. Cabins have screens, but bugs still come in. Incredible location! Spider monkeys were swinging above our cabin every morning, holwers start up at day break, and capuchins befriended us at the beach. Scarlett macawas everywhere, we saw them constantly, as well as toucans. The beach immediately out front is wavy and rough, but my kids still jumped in the waves daily. The highlight is San Josecito beach, a 17 minute walk along the ocean....

"Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming. My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...

"Tolle Unterkunft mit kleinen Holzhäusern. Balkon mit traumhafter Aussicht. Ausstattung eher einfach und funktional. Anfahrt mit dem Auto ist - wie der gesamte Weg nach Drake Bay - etwas schwierig. Sehr hilfreiches und nettes Personal. Sehr gutes Frühstück zu einem fairen Preis. Kurzer Weg zum Strand und zu den Ausflugsboten. Wir haben viele tolle Vögel direkt vom Balkon beobachten können."

"Insgesamt ein wirklich schönes Hotel in traumhafter Lage. Unser Zimmer hatte einen wunderschönen Blick aufs Meer. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich. Ansonsten wirkte der Service eher unmotiviert. Obwohl es sehr ruhig im Hotel war, waren die Bedienung bei den Mahlzeiten manchmal längere Zeit nicht anwesend. Leider waren die Mahlzeiten eher unterdurchschnittlich. "Casa Drake is one of the nicest places I've stayed. The family that owns this place is very niceand welcoming. I enjoyed sitting around and talking to them. They offered us home made authentic Tico breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each and every meal I had there was awesome. The grounds are very beautiful with various fruit trees and flowers.
