Unreal Villa

This villa was the perfect escape we needed from our city lives. Spacious, clean, well equipped and stunning location for sunsets. Just a 5 minute walk from a sweet little beach, perfect for a morning dip in the crystal clear waters, and an easy 15 minute walk into the town for restaurants etc. we were a family group (7 adults and 2 small children) and felt perfectly safe. The hosts were also fantastic providing multiple daily bottles of water, frequent cleaning and were super helpful for local recommendations. 5 stars from us!

Highly recommend

If you want to stay somewhere that is life changing, this is the place. Well tended to, possessing beautiful views and access to a rather secluded beach (we never saw more than 2 other people), and a conveninent walk into the town. I would stay again.

Beautiful home, beautiful island, wonderful hosts

Our stay at On the Rocks was one of the nicest holiday rental experiences my family and I have ever had. John and Emmanuela have thought of every detail in outfitting their home for guests. The property is beautiful with stunning views of the sea and a short walk to Valmas Beach, the perfect spot for any afternoon or morning swim. The hosts are very accommodating and helped us with car rentals and picking us up at the port. They curated wines for us and invited us into their homes for coffee and biscuits. The property is well stocked with grills, beach toys, games, cooking basics and they supply bread and water every day. The host live on the property and are easy to contact in case of any problem but they are not intrusive in any way. They employee two cleaners who straighten up the house daily. They were both very nice and helpful. We found Ios to be fantastic. We were a large group of 12 people; adults, kids, and teens. We were a little concerned about the party reputation of the islands but we found that it did not start until well after we were asleep.. We were able to enjoy Chora, nice restaurants and bars that were geared towards a more mature clientele and the presence of the youthful party scene added to the vibrancy of the island. We were there at the end of June so things were still pretty quiet. We found that while a car is not necessary, it made our trip more enjoyable as it allowed us to take day trips to the islands other beaches. I found the walk into Chora to be pleasurable but others in my group thought it was too far. We chartered a boat one day with Stelio’s Boat Tours. We had gotten the name from our hosts. The owner was an experienced boatman from Ios and took us to several remote beaches for snorkeling and swimming. This was a trip highlight. There are very few criticisms I can make about this rental. I will add a couple suggestions for the owners but by no means did the lack of these items cause us any real inconvenience. - Magnets or hooks to lock the windows open would be nice. The wind is strong so leaving them ajar without a means to secure them doesn’t work. - An outdoor shower would be a nice touch. There are spigots to wash the sand off your feet but an outdoor shower would be better and seems like it would be an easy add - A way to hang towels outside would be helpful. Because of the winds our towels were always on the ground and never quite dried. That’s it. Everything else was wonderful.

Phenomenal villa with exceptional service

We rented both villas for a group of 12 friends. We were amazed by the property from the moment we arrived, from the breathtaking views to the luxury quality of the home. This was complimented by an exceptional service provided by John, Emmanuela and their staff from start to finish - they all went above and beyond what was stated in the property description. The property itself has great proportions and is finished to a high standard. My friends had a comfortable stay and never felt like they were short of space. The location is great as it is far enough from the nightlife to not be disrupted by it but close enough to be able to walk to all the action. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable luxury stay in Ios - you will not be disappointed.

AMAZING!

This holiday was incredible from start to finish. We rented both on the rocks villas for 10 nights we are a family of 11. Firstly the owners John and Emmanuela are such friendly, helpful and hospitable people they came to pick us up from the port and we arrived at the villas with lovely welcome baskets full of delicious food and refreshments awaiting us. The villas are beautifully decorated and clean with everything done to a very high standard. The location is incredible with the most amazing almost 360 degree views that no picture can do justice. Valmas beach is a short walk down and was almost always empty, giving you the feel of your own private beach which was fantastic. We rented a car and a quad bike to give us flexibility to explore flexibility to explore the island but the villas are located close enough to walk to town and wander through the lovely little old town of Ios. The villas were cleaned daily and the staff were so discrete and efficient. They provided us with fresh bread everyday and some scrumptious baked goods. On our last night John and Emmanuela invited us for sunset drinks and snacks which were absolutely amazing and the team cooked us a greek meal which was also fantastic. We could not have asked for a better holiday, it was out of this world and we highly recommend it. We will definitely be returning!

IOS Family Holiday

Fantaststic stay, excellent location, quiet witz a great sea view. The two villas were perfect for our 3 families, very comfortable, well equiped. We loved the beds ! Great staff, very efficient and discreet . The villas are kept very clean every day. Warm welcome and good bye from our hosts. We all were very delighted with our stay. Thank you "on the Rocks" !!! And thank you for the every day delicate attentions (pastries etc...).

Couldn't fault it

I stayed with a group of 24 across the 3 villas for a week in late May/early June. The villas themselves were absolutely gorgeous, and we felt we were close enough to walk into town easily. The bedrooms and kitchens were great and the infinity pool especially wasn't spectacular. We loved being so close to Valmas, which was just down from the villas but was always empty. One of the clearest beaches in Ios! Our hosts were so welcoming, even though we were a group of students. They brought us to and from the port (even storing our luggage on the final day) and made us a Greek meal on our final night. One of our party broke a stovetop, but it was replaced quickly by the owners. Our stay couldn't have been better and all of us are dreaming of a return!

Breathtaking

We were collected from the port by the owners at no charge to us (it wasn't a problem to them that our ferry was nearly an hour late), we were a family group of 11, ages from 16 - 83. On arrival at the Villa we were absolutely blown away by it. The views are amazing, the villas are newly built and extremely tastefully decorated, the owner must have a talent for design, or had a professional in. Everything you could want for during our stay was in these two villas, they are stocked as well as my own home. They also provide the basics (sugar, oils .... fresh bread everyday and plenty of bottled water). The maid cleans everyday and makes sure you are happy with everything. The beds are extremely comfortable, you can even choose which mattress topper and pillows you want, whether it be feathers or hypo allergic. Good size rooms with lovely fully tiled bathrooms. The top floor bedrooms in each villa have lovely terraces, the only problem was agreeing who could have those rooms! The villa is perched on cliff top, it is just a short 10 minute walk into the nearest village, which has a supermarket and you can wander through the cobbled streets where all the bars and tavernas are. There is a lovely tiny cove with a taverna just a 5-10 minute walk, but coming back up might be a problem if your mobility isn't that good. Taxi's are available 24 hour and cheap so easy to get about. Thoroughly recommend this accommodation, will definitely be going back. The owners were lovely people and extremely accommodating, they even gave us a lift down to the supermarket and back with all our shopping bags.
