You are also correct regarding our location near the train tracks. We are named after the Cantilever Bridge which allows train traffic to and from Canada. During the Prohibition Era, there was multiple incidences of bootlegging and we celebrate this era which is evidenced throughout the building. You also offer excellent advice regarding white noise for those that may be bothered by the train noise. Additionally, we can often accommodate requests for those that prefer to be on the opposite side of the building and away from the train tracks. Again, we appreciate your thorough review and we hope to see you again real soon.

Normally on prepaid reservations we DO take a personal card on arrival, but it is just for us to have on file and not authorized for the stay amount. This way if a guest decides to put purchases from the cocktail lounge or breakfast bar directly to the room, the payment covered. And it is true that we have to protect ourselves in the event someone does damage a room. We believe this is customary for most hotels. We did not mean to make you feel like a thief. Again, please accept our apology for your card being authorized in error. We will address this with the team. The trains are part of our rich history at Cantilever and some find it to be part of our charm, but we do understand a night of interrupted sleep can be frustrating. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience during your stay due to a city water main breaking. The health department requires us to shut down immediately when there is no running water. Unfortunately, it took the city over 3 hours to make repairs and restore water service. During that time we tried to make sure that all guests were given bottled water free of charge, provided information on nearby restaurants that offered delivery, as well as I offered to pick up and deliver myself. We understand that the distillery/cocktail room is what makes us unique and I'm sincerely sorry that we couldn't provide you that experience due to the unexpected water main break. I have also refunded 50% of the rate that you paid for your stay with us. My sincerest apologies.
