Overall, the stay was okay, but there were a few issues that affected our experience. The rental looked like the photos, although it felt smaller in person. It was generally clean, but the sheets had several small red stains, one of the pillows had a black stain, and there was a long strand of hair frozen into the ice in the ice tray, which was disappointing.Communication with the host was slower than expected. The unit was extremely cold when we arrived, and I had trouble getting instructions on how to adjust the thermostat. I was traveling with my 11-month-old, who was already sick, so this was especially stressful. I asked if someone could come by or if extra blankets could be provided, but I was told that wouldn’t be possible until the following day. I eventually figured out how to adjust the thermostat myself without assistance. There were also no batteries in the remote controls for the television, so I had to download a remote app just to watch TV.One thing future guests should be aware of is that the rental is located behind the main house and requires climbing stairs to access it. If you’re traveling with a stroller, small children, or have mobility limitations or use a wheelchair, this may not be the best option.Despite these issues, the home itself was as described and mostly clean. With better attention to cleanliness, faster communication, and clearer instructions for the thermostat and where to find basic items, this could be a much better experience.
