Perfect Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Scout’s Hideaway. The property, cleanliness, coziness…it was all fantastic. Looking forward to coming back!

Lovely!

The house was lovely to stay in, a little hard to locate via Google Maps but we just gave them a call and they helped us out. The views are gorgeous, we loved sitting on the back patio.

Great booking process and comfy stay

Great staff! Quick response after booking, with all details and docs in the first email. Gabby made it easy to review and sign everything. And Niki gave us complementary tickets to the wine tour when I mentioned it was sold out! Great property! Wonderful wooded setting, privacy, parking on site, tidy, comfortable home with room to relax and savor. We’ll do it again soon!

Great neighborhood - but don't follow Google maps!

We just wanted a peaceful getaway in the pines, and that is what we got. Beautiful, quiet area. But be warned--please follow the directions given by the office; don't follow Google maps directions, especially in the dark. They will lead you astray. The cabin, while not super-modern, is very cute and has the conveniences needed (unless you're looking for a TV--but why would you want that?) Living room and dining room area is comfortable, and there is a nice deck to sit and look out and breath the wonderful air. There is a portable AC unit, but during our October stay, the only thing I used was a fan in the bedroom. If you have trouble navigating stairs and have to get up at night, be warned that you'll need to go downstairs to the bathroom. But there is good lighting on the stairs for any nighttime journey. I would say that perhaps check-in paperwork could have been handled at least partly in advance, especially for late check-ins. It was not a problem in our beautiful weather, but on a very cold night, filling out paperwork outside in the dark could be a cold business. But communication with the office was very easy and accomodating.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family of 3 enjoyed a couple nights at Scouts. The beds were very comfy and the view was sublime. We loved the little perks like the bird guide and the Spotify playlist. It’s also walking distance to the Donaldson Futuro House, which was a delightful surprise. The kitchen has the basics covered, though no microwave. If you plan to use the grille, make sure you arrive on a day and time that the Fire Department is open, in order to obtain the necessary permit.

LOVED the wood burning fireplace, the deck with the bird feeders on it, the incredible silence and the beautiful stars in the sky. The cabin was so cozy and so much attention was spent to small details. The town of Idyllwild is so Zen - and the hiking was fabulous! I would highly recommend Scout's Hideaway. It was such an easy experience from the booking to the drop off of the keys.

Great place, will return

Wife and I stayed here with our son (3) and 2 small dogs. Love that it's per friendly. Very cozy and serene. Location was great, at less than 10 minutes from Idyllwild. Burning wood for heat actually resulted in the house getting way too hot, so be more judicious than youight think with wood. To heat all night starting at like 4pm, we only needed 6-8 logs. Check in process was slight cumbersome since you need to go to the office first and when returning the key. Aside from that, it was great and we'd like to return.

Rental agency is beyond horrible, waivers for everything

The mouse kept us awake running around the living room, took hours to catch it, but the rental agency was beyond ridiculous. Waiver for driveway, waiver for walkway, and beyond. Went to relax and that did not happen
