Idaho Springs cabin
Very well stocked cabin with beautiful views. Felt secluded but only 10 minute drive to Idaho Springs for groceries, dining, and shopping. Hot tub under the stars after a day of hiking was fabulous! Owners were super kind and accommodating. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing Treehouse
This property is truly unique and special! Our family enjoyed the views, trails, hot tub, and the dozens of hummingbirds on the deck. The hosts are very thoughtful and highly responsive to any needs or requests. 5 Star Recommended.

Amazing Getaway!!!
This property was absolutely incredible!!! Location, views, seclusion! Only a short drive to Idaho Springs to grab any essentials. However- this beautiful home was stocked with EVERYTHING you could ever need!!! Each morning and evening was spent surrounded by dozens of hummingbirds on the deck! The owner Steven was a pleasure to work with. One of the best VRBO we have ever stayed in! Thank You!!!

Beautiful home, awesome views!
This home was a perfect getaway. We had a group of seven. 4 adults and three 17year olds. Plenty of room for us all. The views were beautiful. The home had everything we needed. The hot tub was perfect after a long day of hiking. We enjoy the ping pong table also. We especially spent a lot of time on the deck, perfect for meals and early morning coffee and just hanging out.

love the location!
the remote location was perfect for us. humble suggestion is to rent 4x4. i went back to den and exchanged our car. More comfortable and plenty of off road trails. owner recommendations for outdoor activities are spot-on. especially st. mary's glacier. we did all he suggested and were not disappointed. went back twice. the home was fully stocked; i mean with everything. lol. and that was awesome. living room, balcony - where we spent most of our time (hummingbirds were so cool) was comfortable and well appointed. the nephews room(s) were nice however the bed - which extended into a closet was unexpected. bathrooms are nice but a little compact. as well they felt (19/17 years old nephews) the 2nd bathroom could have used a more thorough scrubbing. i concur. overall great experience. the owner was nice and sent us bear pictures.

Beautiful serene cabin
Hosts were always prompt with responses and gave plenty of local suggestions. Cabin was well equipped with anything needed. So serene, nice location! The driveway was actually fun and 4wd was not needed although I had. The buffalo restaurant was amazing! 20 minutes from loveland ski area 10/10 recommend! Can't wait to come back! Thank you a million!

Relaxing family vacation
We really enjoyed our stay in Idaho Springs. The house was just what we were looking for. It had everything we needed and then some. Very comfortable and very responsive hosts. Just make sure you have 4 wheel drive for that driveway!

A true mountain cabin
We had the pleasure staying for 5 days at this cabin, the interior is charming and has a true feel of a cabin with a lot of family history and art trough the entire place, we were 2 adults and kids 7 & 4 year old and our friends with a 4 year old and a new born did stay for our winter vacation. Kids loved the place, we as well enjoyed everything like the scenery of the deck at night next to the fire pit, the hut tub at night under the sky full of stars and the sounds of the wind going true the trees. You need a 4x4 to get to the cabin, this was verified :), the steep road going up the hill to get to the cabin makes the stay even more spectacular and special. Thank you very much to the Host also by having a 4x4 vehicle at the bottom of the hill available to get to the cabin, this was very nice of him to make sure that you get there no matter what happens…and we did plan everything and made sure but it still happened…....our friend’s flight got canceled last minute and they had to fly trough a different state to get to Denver, they had the car reservation on their name, so I had to take a Uber and get there versus waiting 7 hours for them at the airport, so the available vehicle at the bottom of the road did help us to get to the cabin until our friends got 7 hours later in a 4x4 vehicle. We highly recommend to stay at this place. With respect Dmitri

Adventures and R&R in Idaho Springs
Beautiful views. Hot tub is relaxing. Plenty to do in local area - Go to Argo Mine. At Mary hike was scenic at the top. Cute little downtown nearby. We also made the trek to breckenridge and Glenwood springs and enjoyed it all. The cabin is rock solid and owners are attentive. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Excellent Cabin & Very Accommodating!
My family of 6 (plus a daughter's friend) really enjoyed this cabin outside of Idaho Springs. It is close enough to town to run to the store but far enough away to be secluded with no other humans in sight. The view from the property is second to none, and everything at the home was tidy and in order. We spent the Thanksgiving holiday here and there were tons of supplies and the right cookware that we cooked a really nice meal and weren't without anything we needed. Great hosts, wonderful place, truly enjoyed everything about the trip.

Great place for summer retreat
This is a beautiful and spacious home with incredible mountain views! The kitchen was very well stocked and the home was very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed many evenings on the beautiful deck overlooking the mountains, and the hot tub, BBQ, ping pong table, and hummingbirds were great bonuses. The cabin is very centrally located to many outdoor recreation areas for hiking and cycling. St Mary’s Glacier is very close by and Rocky Mountain National Park is a short drive away, as well as many other beautiful hiking trails. The hosts were very responsive and helped us with all of our questions. They provided great suggestions for places to visit in the area and have very generously equipped their cabin to make their guests feel at home! Our family had an amazing time here and we hope to return on our next visit to the area.

Fantastic Mountain Cabin
This property was perfect for a family get away, 4 adults and 2 kids. They have a fully stocked kitchen if you are looking to bring food to cook, most of your essential pantry items will be provided. For us city kids it is a steep mountain road, a little scary but a fun adventure, for a short distance. Location to towns and things to do is endless. Icing on the cake is that hot tub over looking the canyon. Steven and Leslie are great hosts!!

Beautiful views serenity, great location and perfect cabin
The house was perfect. It has a great locations with easy access to Rocky Mtn NP, Denver, Boulder and Red Rocks. We were able to do all of these on day trips. The house had all of the amenties to make our stay very comfortable. Sitting on the deck in the evening looking at the mountains and listening to the mountain stream was especially relaxing.. We look forward to our next visit to the Rockies and staying here!!

The check in/out process was breezy. It is imperative you read the full description. The drive is very steep! We had a lovely stay. The jacuzzi overlooks the most beautiful views. We cooked heavily in the kitchen and everything worked great and they even had plenty of seasonings in the pantry. A true home away from home. Delightful!

Sunrises and Stars!
Beautiful views!! From the sunrises over the mountains every morning to the sky full of stars at night this place does not disappoint!! The house is so cozy and inviting but the weather was so nice when we were there that we spent most of our time on the deck! The kitchen is very well stocked - there was nothing we needed that we couldn't find. The location was the perfect base for exploring many areas of Colorado - which we did! Steve and Leslie made the whole process very easy as well! As other reviewers have mentioned, the driveway is a little intense but it is worth it!!

Snowed In
We wanted somewhere remote where we could enjoy the mountain scenery. We ended up being snowed in for our entire vacation which luckily we prepared for with communication from the owners. It snowed about 2 feet the second day that we were at the cabin. My kids enjoyed every minute. Whether we were out playing in the snow, sledding down the drive way, playing board games, watching movies or just chilling by the fire place. The driveway was a different level of difficult with the snow on the ground. Seriously, unless you feel like hiking up this monster driveway, bring a 4wd! If you have one though, the views are absolutely breathtaking.

This house did not disappoint! It had everything we needed and more. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, and the Mountain views are gorgeous! The hot tub was perfect after a long day of skiing. The road up the mountain is no joke but we made it just fine. Communication with Steven prior to and during our trip was easy and helpful. Beautiful location, lovely home, generous host
We had a great time at the Big Cabin in the Woods! It was the perfect spot for a getaway with my sister in law and her family. It was easy to drive to Loveland Ski Area one day and to Echo Mountain another day (for tubing which I highly recommend). The house is so well appointed and the hosts are very communicative. We had a cold weekend so we also enjoyed our cozy days by the fire. We'd love to go back sometime!

Mountain stay!
Overall the place was amazing, the only thing that was diffiat first was making it too the property up the mountain, it is STEEP! you WILL need 4 wheel drive! (Our friend got a cadillac and couldnt make it up with the sbow so we had to shuttle everyone in our truck. Aside from the sketchy treck up and down from the cabin its amazing!

No go for winter visits.
The good: The home was beautiful and one of the best stocked VRBO homes we have rented. The views are gorgeous from the decks and outdoor hot tub are wonderful. The not so good: The driveway to get to the home was NOT safe. It is basically a washed out, rut filled, rock, dirt, mud road. When the road/driveway is dry, a 4 wheel drive with clearance and some nerve is required. On our stay, it snowed on day two which made very unsafe to drive. We parked at the 1st of 2 hairpin turns and walked the rest of the way (about 200 yards) for the rest of our stay. I do not recommend renting this home outside of the summer months unless you do not mind walking the final 200 yards to the house.

Leslie and I are pleased that you found our home beautiful and one of the best stocked VRBO homes you have ever rented. I wish we could also take credit for the views but God created those. It is difficult to get these views without being on the side of a mountain. Neighbors and delivery drivers travel this road daily. It is a safe road. In early summer we'll be adding GeoCell and gravel which will make the entire road much smoother. Whether you're a summertime guest or want to take in the spectacular wintertime views, it's our privilege to share our small piece of Heaven with you.

Lovely Secluded Cabin With Easy Access to Everything
We stayed a week at this property and drove up and skied at Winter Park, which was about an hour away. We loved the Great Room and the hot tub out back was great for watching the stars. The house was clean and very “homey” with lots of interesting decorations. Being situated between Denver and Winter Park (or Breckinridge) was great for us as some in our group wanted to go down to Denver for the day. We had easy communication with the owners and everything was set up very nicely for their renters. I would highly recommend this property to others.

Majestic Views
Excellent Christmas vacation spent in a beautiful cabin in the mountains. The views were spectacular from every window in the cabin. The hot tub was so relaxing. Overall Perfect!
The cabin is exactly as Steven and Leslie describe. It is a wonderful space with two fireplaces, a nice deck, and a hot tub. We were there during snow season which was beautiful. The star gazing is amazing! And the location to Denver is perfect - only 40 mins to downtown but it feels like a lifetime away (in a good way) due to the secluded nature of the property. While I did see a few cars drive by on the driveway near the house - we never saw or heard the neighbors. We did see some interesting footprints in the snow around the lot, including moose, deer, and lynx. Our stay was so peaceful and everything we had hoped! My advice - for sure listen to the hosts - they are very clear and accurate with their information. Especially when it comes to advice on the driveway (which is no joke - you need AWD) and the hot tub! Overall, it was perfect. I for sure recommend for a romantic get away or couples retreat. Would probably be great for families too - there's a cute loft with games, movies, and a video game unit downstairs but we didn't utilize any of those things.

Beautiful mountain views
House was absolutely stunning. Spent the days waking up and enjoying the sunrise from the hot tub with a cup of joe! It was a great experience to see Colorado for the first time being smack dab in the mountains! Friends also enjoyed the porch & lights & gas wood fireplace. It was nice to have fun hiking, going downtown, and night tubing at echo mountain only to come back to such a scenic and homey place. I must say there were so many irreplaceable memorable items in the house and NOT ONE thing had dust on them. Most cleanly VRBO I have stayed in! (Props to that) There were times during the stay that I had questions and the owners were very easy to get a hold of by phone. I was never worried because they were in constant communication when needed. My friends and I enjoyed the house and views. Will deff be back to see what summer time Colorado has to offer! cheers!!

Big Cabin
Very accommodating. Close to activities. Ping pong table was fun and a nice surprise. Hot tub was great, but didn’t use as much as I thought we would. Great hike to top of mountain behind cabin with spectacular views. Lots of items in cabin that we would have forgot. Bottle of wine and muffins upon check in was a nice touch. The property owners were in communication with us during the snow storm in how to navigate driveway. We enjoyed the gas fire place every night. Didn’t even need to use the wood burner. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend anyone else to stay there.

Great cabin with a great view
My wife and I were looking for a peaceful retreat to Colorado over the week of Labor Day this past year. This house is in a great location to get to Rocky Mountain National Park, Denver and Colorado Springs all in under 2 hours. In addition to that it is literally down the street from St. Mary's Glacier which was recommended to us by the home owners and was one of our favorite things we did on the trip. The owners are awesome communicators and will provide you with everything you need for your stay. Please note that when they recommend a 4x4 to get up their driveway, you should listen. We rented a 4x4 for the week and it was worth every penny as the road up to the house is steep and not for your average car. We really enjoyed the house, the back deck with daily visits from hummingbirds and the hot tub out back! While we were there it went from 90 degrees to 26 and snowed about 3-4 inches. In this house we did mind, it was the perfect time to enjoy the snow fall in the hot tub and to enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains down the valley. The wood burning fireplace even got used, which was great after coming in from the cold. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could need, as we made the majority of our meals at the house. I would tell anyone looking for this house to get a 4x4 and enjoy the adventure, you will not regret your stay!

First White Christmas Ever!!!
Steven and Leslie's "Big Cabin in the Woods" was the perfect spot for our families to enjoy our "Hallmark Family Christmas Vacay" (as we called it) Being from Louisiana and Texas, we have never experienced a white Christmas and planned this trip in hopes to experience all the wintery "feels" of Christmas while still keeping the traditions of Jesus' birth and family. They had the cabin decorated with lights on the banisters and a Christmas Tree, cabinets stocked with canned goods and Christmas snacks and cookies waiting for us upon arrival. The cabin was plenty big for our two families (my family of 4 and my sister's family of 3), the beds were comfy, gas fireplace with remote in living room was very handy on cold mornings when you're the first one up, and the kitchen was very well stocked. We cooked almost every meal during our 7 night stay! And the view!!!! All I can say is WOW!!! Especially after 12 hours of snow falling!! The only issue we had was the wifi not being fast /strong enough for so many people on devices at one time...But as a mom, I was good with everyone putting the phones down and playing board games, cards, etc as a family! And when we all wanted our own space...one of us just used our phone as a hot spot and the service was great. We are grateful for the Hager's and their hospitality. We hear summer's in Idaho Springs are even better than winters, so they might be seeing us again!

Great place to stay
I went out here for a week with some friends to visit Colorado for the first time. Overall I loved the location. The road up is steep so it's no joke when they recommend 4WD. You're rewarded for the ride up though by beautiful views that largely have no obstructions. Kitchen was well stocked so we were able to save a lot of money by cooking at the house. I'd love to come back again sometime and would recommend it to those looking for a great place in the mountains.

Excellent family getaway! Everything was as indicated. Fresh flowers and Fresh muffins wonderful arrival touch. Enjoyed everything this property offered - very beautiful view, deck w/patio fire pit, ping pong table, well provided kitchen - cookware, utensils, & dinnerware, linens, office area w/excellent WIFI . Lovely Home in the Mountains
This home is awesome and is perfect for a group of 8. Lesley and Steven made our stay very enjoyable with their tips and hospitality. Perfect location to Denver, Golden, Boulder and Red Rocks--only a 90 minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. The house is nestled in the mountains and provides a perfect backdrop for hanging out and enjoying the quiet beauty of the hummingbirds and surroundings. Make sure you take a dip in the hot tub for sunsets and star gazing. You may want to make sure you have 4 wheel drive to make it up to the house since it's a little steep (especially for folks from the Midwest who are not used to mountain driving!). A great find in Idaho Springs!

This was the perfect house for the 6 of us. Three generations and everyone loved this vacation home. Well stocked. Beautiful view. We will be back next year. The drive up does require a 4wd but it's an adventure and well worth it. The hot tub on the side of the mountain was amazing. Thanks for a great week!

Wow, what a fantastic place!
We enjoyed the heck out of our time at the cabin. It's a gorgeous place, and very comfortable for our group. The communal spaces were ample, and the bedrooms were just what we needed. The upstairs room is extra special. I especially enjoyed the cathedral ceiling in the LR and the big stone chimney. The hot tub was also awesome, and really well placed. The deck is really great too. There's also a lot of random equipment at the place, and we used the 2 sleds, which were loads of fun at St-Mary's glacier and allowed runs all the way back to the car. The views down valley are spectacular, and we enjoyed them every morning especially. For us the location was perfect as it allowed us <30 minute access to high altitude resort and backcountry skiing, as well as lower altitude hikes for the folks who were acclimatizing to CO air. The St-Mary's hike up the glacier was gorgeous and even the older folks in our group were able to make it a good ways up the glacier. Overall, 5.5 stars out of 5!

Fantastic!
We rented the beginning of October with our five kids and it was a terrific time! The house was perfect for cooking, relaxing, exploring, and family time. I highly recommend a rental with Steve and Leslie. They made our trip easy and the kids are already asking to go back.

Big Cabin, Big views!
We absolutely loved staying here! The views are nothing short of spectacular. The home was clean, spacious, comfortable, and bright. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked. Leslie and Steve remembered that we were on a special trip and left us a very thoughtful gift! We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Two minor negatives - the drive up to the cabin is a little intimidating- sharp turns, steep, rocky. We left the windows open but it was still a little warm (No A/C available).
