Ideal - a true 11 on a 10 scale

This property, the traditional modeled modern version of an Icelandic house they built on it, its distance to both Reykjavík and Borgarnes worked for us. We caught northern lights nightly from the patio, walked the beach at low tide all in total privacy. Bara Borgarnes for dinner we had to repeat was less than a 10 min easy drive when weather was less distance friendly. The drive to Reykjavík typically took us 45 mins. The host and accommodations were spot on and you should not hesitate in picking this property. It was ideal for us.

First visit to Iceland

It's an adorable, secluded, cozy little cottage. The pictures are accurate and it's exactly as you expect! We're grateful to the owners for sharing their little piece of heaven with us on our first trip to Iceland. We hope to come back again soon.

Perfect quiet spot

We rented this cottage for the last few days of our honeymoon trip and it was the perfect end to a great Iceland stay. The cottage was cute and clean and private, but not too far from necessities like groceries. Highly recommended!

Simply amazing!

I can honestly say this is the most amazing vacation rental we’ve stayed at, and we’ve stayed at many, all over the world! From the linens, decor, heated floors in the bathroom, early check in, and spot on recommendations! I couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Iceland!

Short Stay Returning to US from Europe

We had such a great time in Iceland! The little black cabin was perfect for us - we were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside (and saw the northern lights over the cabin two of the three nights we were there), but were still close enough to Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, Husafell, and Borgarnes to have lots of options for exploring as well. Our hosts emailed us an in-depth booklet of info on both the house and favorite activities in the area so we had a chance to do some research/make some reservations before arriving, then there was even more helpful info at the cottage when we arrived. The warmed floors in the entry and bathroom were so nice (especially after venturing out on the glacier), and the kitchen was amply stocked with spices, coffee, and even some dried goods. The hot water was plentiful and much appreciated, and the cold water was delicious straight from the tap! We are already missing the distinctly Scandinavian black timber cabin, but will definitely return. So much left to see!

Stunning Borganes Cottage

Black Timber Cove was magical! A vacation we'll remember forever. Driving up to the cottage, we were blown away with the surroundings, only to walk inside to an interior design dream! We wish we could have stayed longer than two nights! The hosts were extremely accommodating and had the best guidebook of recommendations and truly thought of everything for a comfortable stay! This has been our absolute favorite Iceland vacation rental so far!

Wonderful little cottage

We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend. Very quiet location and beautifully decorated. Very generous and thoughtful details included such as pantry provisions and bathroom necessities. Block out blinds/curtains in the bedrooms would be a nice addition to help those of us who are not used to such long hours of daylight.

Classic home with beautiful views

This home was a great find. Beautiful interior with an interesting room layout. Huge bathroom. All amenities were as advertised. And amazing views of the inlet. Easy reach to both Snæfellsnes peninsula and Þingvallir. Owner was communicative and advice on nearby attractions was very detailed.

Ein Traumhaus

Die ruhige Lage mit einer fantastischen Aussicht begeistert auf den ersten Blick und würde allein schon eine sehr gute Bewertung rechtfertigen. Betritt man aber das Haus, ist man sofort von dem geschmackvollen und in jeder Hinsicht stimmigen Design überwältigt. Auch die Ausstattung lässt keine Wünsche übrig. Sehr sympathisch ist auch, dass man eingeladen ist, sich der Vorräte zu bedienen. Das alles würde - wenn es möglich wäre - noch eine besser Bewertung rechtfertigen als 5 Sterne. Wir kommen sicher gerne wieder.

Everything about this place is wonderful. It's beautifully decorated, wonderfully appointed, and located close enough to town for gas, groceries, and coffee. Easy to access fron the ring road, but feels absolutely secluded. Everything you want.

Wir haben in diesem wunderschönen Haus den absolut perfekten Ort für unsere erste Islandreise gefunden. Nicht nur, daß es einfach traumhaft liegt (Ruhe, Ruhe, Ruhe), es ist irrsinnig gemütlich, man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an heimelig und wohl. Die Betten sind ebenso von feinster Qualität wie auch die Bettwäsche. Man schläft wie im Himmel;;;)))! Außergewöhnlich fanden wir auch, daß die Küchenbasics wie Essig, Öl, Zucker, Tee, Cafe ... extrem großzügig angeboten waren, ebenso Wäsche. Die Lage ist extrem gut, wenn man Westisland erkunden will. Perfect in every way!

We loved staying outside of Borgarnes for four nights in the back timber house. It was quiet and quaint and we felt unplugged from Reykjavik in a good way. We loved being in the country and felt like locals instead of tourists. We enjoyed walking down to the coast at the base of the property and finding little waterfalls and bird watching. At low tide we watched a fox run across the entire bay! The view of the city of Borgarnes from the backyard was perfect too. I booked this property 8 months ago and dreamed about it until our trip. It definitely lived up to my expectations and did not disappoint! We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to everyone. Also, I highly recommend these food places in Borgarnes: La Colina (pizza), The Settlement Center (daily wellness buffet from 1130-3pm), and Geira Bakari (amazing bread and cheap sandwiches). Tip: skip the tunnel at least once and hike around Fossarrett (old sheep enclosure waterfall). The purple lupine wildflowers are everywhere there (June) and it was so beautiful! We had the entire place to ourselves and it was lovely.

Amazing stay on the water

Wohlfühlhaus in Traumlage

Ein perfekter Urlaub. Super ausgestattetes Ferienhaus in wunderschöner Lage. Besonders geschmackvoll und sehr gemütlich ist die Inneneinrichtung. Wir haben auf Island nun schon einige Ferienhäuser bewohnt, aber das Haus von Kristinn und Rut ist etwas ganz besonderes. Wer hier nicht übernachtet, verpasst etwas! If you are going to explore Iceland and want to get away from the city look no further than this home. It is absolutely beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. Everything about our stay was wonderful and we cannot thank Kristinn and Rut enough. You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful, peaceful place

This home was amazing. The views cannot be beat. The home was clean and stocked with anything you may need during a stay. Decorations were beautiful making us feel as if we were at our own home. The owners were great and easy to communicate with.
