Hervorragend
Die Brekka Lodge ist wunderschön gelegen und hat einen herrlichen Ausblick über den Fjord. Auch die Unterkunft selbst ist sehr gemütlich und die Einrichtung bietet alles, was man für einen gelungenen Urlaub braucht. Wir haben hier den Jahreswechsel verbracht und hatten das Glück, an zwei Abenden Polarlichter sehen zu können - perfekt. Auch für Ausflüge ist die Lage ideal. Der Vermieter Jon Baldur war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Vor der Reise haben wir zur Einstimmung jede Menge Informationen bekommen und waren daher gut vorbereitet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Amazing
Jon is very helpful, always available and gives very good advice. The comfortable house offers breathtaking views of the mountains, fjord and ocean. The tub experience at night and in the snow is a real discovery. An excellent family stay.

Stay at Brekka
Beautiful property, the owner is super kind and responsive. The view of the northern lights from the property has been stunning, the location is fabulous. We enjoyed out stay and have absolutely nothing bad to say. We will come back next time we wisit Iceland without a doubt!

Simply Amazing
My wife and I stayed at Brekka during early-mid September and had an amazing time exploring many things Iceland has to offer. The cabin is in a fantastic location with terrific views. We saw the northern lights three nights in a row! The lodge was very comfortable and very well stocked. Jon left great instructions and food recommendations. Hotel Glymur dinner is a must! Jon is a wonderful host with excellent, quick communication the few times we had questions. Best of the best! Thank you, Jon! Eric & Hayley

Amazing and Restorative Place
Brekka lodge is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for some rest and relaxation. The lodges in this area all have quite a bit of space and privacy to them. The area it is in is a beautiful place, with convenient proximity to various places to explore in Iceland. Experienced hikers can go to Glymur waterfall at the eastern end of Hvalfjordur. Nearby Hvammvik springs on the south side of the bay gives you a place to swim in the ocean, and then warm up in a thermal pool. Reykjavik is less than an hour away by car, and to the north and west, you have the beautiful Snaefellsnes and other historic places, such as Reykholt. The geothermal tub was very relaxing, and I believe it helped me correct a skin condition on my hand (dermatitis / eczema); after the trip my hand has never looked this good in over 6 years. I would definitely come back to Iceland and stay at another Nordic Lodge in the future!

Love this Home Base!
We were looking for a place that is in the middle of the area we wanted to be. From this place we could go North, South, up to the peninsula, the Gullfoss Waterfall, or to the airport all within a daytrip. What a great treasure we found in Brekka! It was the perfect location, the view was amazing, and it was a great place to relax after our day out.The kitchen had everything we needed for our dinners, and it was wonderful to do small loads of laundry while we were there. Brekka was the perfect place for us!

Brekka Lodge
Die Brekka Lodge ist wirklich schön und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Lage der Lodge bietet nicht nur einen guten Ausgangspunkt für Unternehmungen, sondern auch einen grandiosen Blick über den Fjord, der durch Sonne und Wolken immer wieder in ein faszinierendes Licht getaucht wird. Durch den netten Kontakt (Schriftwechsel) mit Jon fühlten wir uns von Anfang an sehr gut informiert und jederzeit gut aufgehoben. Wir hatten knapp zwei Wochen gebucht, wären aber gerne noch etwas geblieben.

Cute little house with a spectacular view. Wish there was a dryer with the washer or drying function within washer as we weren’t able to do laundry as we hoped (not enough space on drying rack for all of our clothes). Kitchen was very useful for a family with kids. Loved the secluded location to enjoy the scenic views.

Location, location, location
Great directions, the view of water and mountains, all the windows to enjoy the view, and your own geothermal hot springs contained in a tub! We totally loved everything about this house up the hill! The heated floors were so welcome, as well as the gorgeous deck!

Erholsame Tage
Das Haus ist so schön wie auf der Internetseite beschrieben. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und haben die Zeit genossen. Tagsüber haben wir Ausflüge unternommen und Abends trafen wir uns zuhause zu einer gemütlichen Runde im Hottube. Sehr erholsam.

Secluded Home with a Fabulous View!
We enjoyed our stay at Brekka Lodge! We never watched any television, because we preferred to watch the view either from the living area, the deck, or the geo thermal tub. The house is well located to lots of sights and is also very close to the trailhead to Glymur Falls, a stunning waterfall that is worth the hike! It is much better to take the longer trail that goes to the left. The shorter trail is much steeper and, for now, the log crossing over the river is down. We also enjoyed eating at nearby Hótel Laxárbakki. They have a small menu, but delicious homemade meals. We highly recommend the fish stew. As for the house, it is clean, nice, in a quiet area and you can't beat the views! The host, Jon, is very quick to respond if you have any questions.

Peaceful Nordic Lodge with Spectacular Views
What a beautiful and warm property! It had everything we needed for days we wanted to stay in, and was so welcoming it come back to after a day in Reykyavik. The drive was well worth it for the views of Hvalfjördur at night. The host was very responsive and we would definitely stay again.

Great house with excellent location
This trip included my husband, two adult daughters, our son in law and me. Brekka Lodge was very well located, very well equipped and had the most outstanding views of the water and mountains that can be imagined. We loved our time there. It was possible to do many day trips and then return to the serenity of this lovely house.

We had a great stay at Brekka
It was a beautiful location with amazing views and there bonus of having our very own "hot springs" to enjoy every evening was wonderful! just a couple of robes would have put our experience A++ directions for the stove, television and washing machine would have been useful too : )

Dear Terri, Many thanks for your clean and tidy leaving of the Brekka Lodge. Also for those constructive hints you gave us for to improve the access to the facilities in our house like the washing machine, where the instructions are probably only in the forms of pictures and signs, and the stove. I will forward this to the owner of the house! Also the idea of bath robes for the hot tub outside. But for the television... for me these modern televisions and the providers of the programs is nothing but a labrynth of possibilities where you though hardly ever find the right one. If I would try to have there some written directions for the TV, it would be a thick book:-). I rather recommend to our guests to have some kids or teenagers in their company, which would have this all done in a matter of seconds! On the other hand, reg the robes, I welcome that idea very much and will forward it to our co-owners of our houses in the Nordic Lodges-Group. We would be glad to see you again at Brekka or any other of our lodges, any time!

Great getaway
This house is great! Awesome views and definite serenity. Jon communicated everything well except directions. If you aren't familiar with Iceland addresses it's a bit of a challenge. Getting there during the day for your first time is recommended. Also, it should be conveyed that the "hot tub" is really a tub that you fill with geothermal water (I mean, it's Iceland - pretty standard and why they are the world's leader in energy efficiency) but don't expect to hop right in. It takes around 3 hours to fill it and some work to keep it hot (you have to drain some then add). I couldn't get the jets to work but that might've been operator error. Also note that the closest town is Akranes which is about 25 minute drive. Get groceries and spirits there. Restaurant selection limited. It's a good hour to Reykjavik so be aware of that. Awesome waterfall hike within 15 minutes of the house - Glymur falls. Don't miss this one! Overall: great accomodations, great host. Would definitely stay there again!

Many thanks for your very good and objective review. Just because of the directions: holiday homes in Iceland normally don't have any street with a name, and no number -just name. Therefore we "always" send a file with all the descriptions for the way and the stay. BUT, in your case I seem to have forgotten to send these files, can't find these in our correspondence! Apparently there's "no rule with out an exemption":-) I sincerely ask for an apologise!

Absolut empfehlenswert
Das Haus war sehr sauber und schön, die Lage ist super und man hatte kaum Leute um sich rum, man kam überall relativ schnell mit dem Auto hin und die Natur um das Haus herum eignet sich auch gut zum Wandern. Der Vermieter Jón war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es gab eine hervorragende Kommunikation auf einer eher freundschaftlichen Ebene. Alles in allem sind wir sehr zufrieden und würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. JB & BB

Wir und unsere Nordic Lodges wollen aber gerne der erste Anlauf für euch in Island sein wenn es mal wieder wird:-) Die schöne Korrespondenz, die Hilfsbereitschaft, die Sauberkeit!
