The host was very nice and helpful. The room is ok if you just need a place to lay your head. The bathroom was small like a jail cell. I think it’s a cultural difference. Maybe I’m just a spoiled American. The host was great and you get what you pay for

The Owner was perfect, really helpful and tried to meet all our needs. Unfortunately the property had suffered storm damage during a hurricane and knocked the air conditioning out. The neighbours had a 'yard dog' which made sleeping difficult. The bedroom we were in and ensuite was very clean.

5 kleine Zimmer mit Dusche/WC, für alle: ein Aufenthaltsraum mit großem Kühlschrank, Küche, Waschmaschinen, TV, kostenloses WLAN, 15 Min. zu Fuß zu einem kleinen aber traumhaften (!) Strand, Restaurant am Strand, nebenan kleiner Supermarkt (Empfehlung: local Beer BANKS), Preis/Leistung 👍👍👍, Unterkünfte in Strandnähe kosten mindestens das Zehnfache (fest in angloamerikanischer Hand!)

I will begin with the Pros This guest house is close to the beach, the owner is reliable and very engaging. He also offer taxi service at a charge. Cons This guest house is not inviting, the furnitures are dated and some are covered with bedsheets. The ironing board and iron are in very poor condition, the room is small tight spacing but with tall ceiling, the bed is dated and not the best pillows or bedsheet, window curtains needs to be washed. my biggest disappointment was the towels they were coloured not plain white per guest house standards, they looked like they had been used to their maximum usage, so I used one of my clean clothes to dry myself instead, the shower is small and the shower curtains were not clean so this made showing uncomfortable, the room television only one channel so you would have to use the one in the small living room. Overall the place needs house keeping services the gentle man is not able to pinpoint the things that needs to be cleaned and little things that he can do enhance the place and make it welcoming, its a place you can go to if you really don't have a choice. I came with my daughter and husband and we were not please and I was disappointed.

Just a place to sleep and shower

Cash only, no refund. There is no shuttle, owner rents a car to take you to and from airport. If you don't use his rental to get around and pay him, he will take it back so you have to find your own way to the airport when leaving. Do not let him convince you into shopping at the Massy supermarket, he will take you there to try to get you to spend alot of money ( I didn't) then give you his rewards card so he can earn points.(found this out from locals) He is nosy, will pop out of his place all times of the day and night when you are coming and going. There was a filthy, hairy soap bar in the bathroom when I arrived, can only watch tv in the living room, tv doesn't work in your room. No air conditioning, just a fan. Chains and padlocks galore, from the front fence, to the side fence and inside of the house. Wi-fi wasn't working properly until another guest complained so he bought a router for us to access the internet. Texted me after I left accusing me of leaving a winter coat in the closet and questioned if it belonged to a man or a woman. He has since been blocked, I will be reporting him for the false advertisement regarding transportation. Pics to follow

Friendly Place

Guesthouse is situated at the top of a hill about 5 mins walk from the beach and supermarket. Winston, the proprietor is v friendly and goes the extra mile to ensure that his guests have what they need.

met my needs relative to the price

I was comfortable - room was nice and clean - host was welcoming and amicable - near to beach and suoermarket. I just needed overnight stop and this met my needs. -

Too many rules for the holidays

Barbados is a marvellous island with lovely peolpe. Even if Winshelsea guest house is good located and clean I would not recomand to stay there! There is too many rules in this guest house. First there is one chain with a lock at the entrance gate. It's locked anytime and you park your car outside... After this gate there is a very nosy iron gate how creak loud at any passage. There is a shorter way but the guest don't have the key and it's reserved to the worker who clean the rooms. Once you enter, you can't keep your flip flop. You have to let them on the pieces of newpapers at the entrance... And if you forget there is signs on the walls to remind you that and the other rules. Imagine, you have spend a wonderfull day in Barbados... And when you come back to the guesthouse at 10pm the owner is waiting on you behind the entrance gate. Just to tell you that he saw that the light was on last night! It's not because you say the thing with a smile that it's not oppressive. BTW, Sir it's not appropriate to coming knocking at the bedroom door of your guest at night to tell them that some other guest will arrive the day after. It's stressfull especially when you've locked the entrance door and you think you're alone in the house. Another thing that is not the responsibility of the owner this time. Every morning we've been wake up at 6:30am by the many dogs of the neighbour. I'm agree with the comment of EAWeddingPhotography of Janvuary 23rd, 2017.
