The main house has some black mold in it which was manifested in the ceiling of the bathrooms and in the attic. The garage apartment smelled strongly of mold and it was so bad we paid for a hotel for our family that was supposed to stay there. Pictures attached of the mold in one of the bathrooms of the main house and the rest of the issues were with the garage apartment. The owner had the maintenance crew replace the bed frame and glue to vinyl floor back onto the rotted floor boards along with scrubbing the black mold under the sink but this only served to mask the overall problem. The garage apt should be condemned by the Health Department as it is unsafe for anyone to stay there given the black mold problem. The main house should also be checked. It did not smell as strong of mold as the garage apartment. The owner initially offered compensation of 400 which I declined. I wanted a minimum of 750 which would have been 25% of the total cost since we lost 2 of 8 bedrooms and the equivalent of 25% of our living space as we had 24 people including 13 children. The owners final offer of compensation was 600 which I accepted. I would stay clear of this property and find somewhere safer to stay. If the black mold was properly remediated by a professional instead of just removing what is visible on the exterior, this property could be a safe place to stay but as is, it isn't safe especially for anyone with allergies or lung issues.
