The complex is older but the grounds are in great shape. Enjoyed the pool, hot tub and grills were very nice. Unit was nice too. Had a great time there.

Location, location

This stay was the perfect location for us. We played tennis every morning, enjoyed spectacular whale shows from our lanai, loved the constant beauty & roar of the ocean with beautiful well kept grounds. Papakea is within walking distance of great food carts, BadAss coffee, the Farmer’s Market (a local grocery store that needs tourists support!) & other small restaurants.

Weak Air Conditioner

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in this oceanfront room, though I wouldn't book it again. Here is why: 1. The air conditioner is weak and attached to a timer (similar to a hot tub timer). Every few hours the timer needs to be reset to keep the area cool. And it never cooled down enough so nights got extra hot. 2. Cleanliness lacking. I'm at the beach in Hawaii so I don't mind a little sand here and there, but this was A LOT of sand throughout when we checked in. I also noticed little bugs/sand fleas on the kitchen counter, cabinets and along the dishwasher. I bought disinfectant wipes and had to clean up prior to settling in. 3. Our stay was for 2 weeks. They only provided 2 rolls of toilet paper. This just comes off as cheap. 4. Beach equipment is mostly broken. It was clear that there was no quality control when 2 beach chairs and the umbrella were broken. The cooler and beach chairs were great to have but don't rely on being able to use the chairs or umbrella. The PROs: The property is gorgeous with plenty of parking. The neighborhood has everything you would need like restaurants, beach rentals, and grocery stores (great for buying more toilet paper). This unit was also stocked with kitchen and grilling essentials. I recommend washing the dishes prior to using them though. Overall, we didn't spend much time in the unit as we were always out exploring. The location made for a great home base and had the basic necessities.

Timers on A/C !?

This place is a basic condo, a bit dated, especially appliances. Basically stocked. The thing that really bothered me was this unit has the a/c on a timer you spin to turn on. (think hotel hot tub) You could only set for 6 hours max so you would wake up sweating and have to turn the timer back on. You could also not adjust the temperature. Seems like such a juvenile way to treat guests, I would not return nor recommend. That being said, the property management company was excellent.

Great ocean view from condo lanai

This condo is nicely updated, well equipped, and conveniently located. We went to Maui for whale season, and saw plenty of whale activity every day from our lanai. The Papakea property offers plenty of amenities and the acreage is beautiful.

Amazing Vacation!!

Absolutely Stunning

Perfect location, the sound of the ocean throughout the property was incredible and relaxing. Looking at whale playing from our lanai was priceless. Easy access to restaurants, and direct access to connecting resorts. We Had New Year's Eve dinner at Kaanapali beach club which was a short walk away from our condo. We snorkeled behind the property. It was magical.

Dirty condo!

Of course the location was epic. When we got to our less than clean condo the toilet didn't work. It was clogged, so I had to spend 30 minutes working on it to get it to flush properly. I had to do this because the property management company is only available 9-5. my wife then had to sweep the dirty floors and balcony. we had to wash some dishes and glass wear that weren't clean. Also the screens in the bedroom had a thick layer of dirt on them restricting air flow. The air conditioner worked half the time and the glass panels in the horizontal windows fell out if you touched the handles. We love the location and have stayed at Papakea many times before . We would never rent this condo again. Ever

Perfect View

We loved the location of this property just North of the more crowded resort area of Kaanapali but very walkable. Including a Food Truck Park, Farmers Market, Gift Shops, Coffe Shop, Beach and more. It maybe a little tight for 4 but was perfect for 2 and the best of Papakea given that it was Ocean Front which was key. The unit was well equipped if you did want to cook which we only did 1x - The washer & dryer a great feature along with beach chairs and umbrella. We will definitely love to come back to beautiful Hawaii and this unit in the future

Fantastic Ocean View!

This ocean view from this condo is breathtaking -- we even were able to see a (probably reef) shark swimming in the clear water. The condo itself is adequate. We have stayed in many Papakea units -- this one is not as updated as some and could be a bit better stocked (e.g., with more kitchen things, boogie boards, and books on Hawaiian flora and fauna) but it was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. With the fans provided in the bedroom we didn't need the AC. Overall, a great place to stay.

Poor communication from property manager

The sliding glass door was shattered prior to our arrival. The property manager said they would keep us updated on when it would be repaired. We never heard from them again and it was not replaced before our departure.

A very good trip. There was a major drainage renovation going on right outside or balcony that I was alerted to two days prior to arrival that I wasn't thrilled with. The bed in the master bedroom was uneven and lumpy. Other then those two items, great views, nice property and Maui is the best.

Perfect location

I absolutely loved this property! It has well-appointed kitchen and amenities, is clean and comfortable, and has an absolutely unbeatable view. Plus swimming and snorkeling is just outside your door, with the stairs at the end of the building. There was a small maintenance issue during our stay - we called the property manager and it was fixed immediately without us having to be home! We’ve stayed at the Papakea resort a number of times and this was our favorite condo. We will definitely be back!
