Neat place. A bit outdated design and windows overlook the roof. Other than that it served the purpose well. Clean. Fresh and vomfortable bedding.

Used this place for my home based while doing day trips out of Hobart. Many good restaurants are walkable and a Woolworth’s is one street over. Lastly, I went to bed early every night there and didn’t hear anything with the bar/restaurant downstairs .

Check in was done in the restaurant and was an easy process. Parking was shared with the restaurant. Manager was friendly and room was nice. A lot of stairs if you have a lot of luggage. Manager did offer to help carry luggage up to our room. Overall, great place to stay.

We were upgraded to a better room because the room we were booked into had a loose hinge to the door. The facilities in the room is ve ry adequate. The general location of the hotel is good-near shops, had parking and walking distance to the water. But it had a very busy street right in front of the hotel. But for the price of the room- no complaintd

The place looks very unassuming from the outside, just a typical pub. Inside the room was completed renovated and no different to a fancy hotel, just without the price tag. The staff were incredible during our stay, so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is convenient walking distance to Salamanca market, Hobart CBD and there are many eateries nearby. Highly recommended.

It's an old pub which is what i was after. Price was good. Staff at the pub were great. Parking was easy. Room was clean and tidy and the basics were there. It would be a hike up the stairs if you had difficulty getting around but quite doable for most folks. Good reception times and after hours access. Pub with pub food downstairs.

The hotel was very well priced. It was a good walk into the city of Hobart, with shops, restaurants and supermarkets very close. Despite being on a main road and essentially a pub, it was really quiet and clean. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Staff were very courteous and friendly, one carried my large suitcase up the stairs for me. Our room was small but very clean and the bathroom was new and modern. The restaurant staff were very welcoming, service was fast and food was delicious.

It was convenient, the linen was excellent. The building needs to be freshly painted The rooms Needs to be checked after cleaners mould on the tiles, hairs & dust in the vanity drawer, I cleaned it.

Great little hotel, fabulous staff, delicious food. An easy walk to the Salamanca Markets and the ferry to MONA. Would definitely stay here again!!

The pub/gaming bar/restaurant downstairs is such fun with wonderful staff, food and patronage (many locals) which was comftable to visit. Even though the rooms are above there is very minimal noise. I do t like to give nice reviews if places I want to continue to visit cos it will make it hard for me to get a booking whoever I want, HOWEVER in this case I just have to because it's really wonderful.

Doctor Syntax Hotel is an excellent value for money budget accommodation option when staying in Hobart, especially for solo travellers or couples. Check-in procedure was straightforward, and my room was clean and comfortable. The room also had modern, clean shower and bathroom facilities. As the Hotel rooms are situated above the Pub and Restaurant below, hearty, affordable meals are available downstairs, especially for lunch and dinner. I'd definitely book accommodation at Doctor Syntax Hotel again if staying in Hobart another time in the future.

The room was very comfortable and clean. Despite being close to busy Sandy Bay Road the room was quiet. The staff were very helpful.
