We had a wonderful time at this “cabin.” The outdoor space is just unbelievable- so much space to spread out and enjoy sun or shade. The host has thought of so many extras… And special welcome baskets were a nice touch! Beds were very comfy, and the bathrooms were spotless. It was helpful to have a truck to load up and drive down to the river… It was a very difficult walk for the average person. The host was very kind and easy to communicate with.We had young children through elderly in our group and there was something for everyone!Would definitely stay here again!

Great house! Everything was clean and as described. The multiple gift baskets were a wonderful touch! Six kayaks and the multiple paddleboards were enjoyed. The volleyball court (ball included) was great family fun.

Hiwassee Good Times

This was an unbelievable home for our large family vacation! There were games to be played on the lake, games in the house, beautiful views and an incredibly well stocked kitchen. The beds were so comfortable!The lake had life jackets for anyone who wanted one, soccer balls, paddle boats and kayaks. I could go on and on. We went on a few hiking and boating excursions, (beautiful), but really felt that we could have just stayed at the cottage all day every day because Avonlea Cottage has it all! And those sunsets!The location is so peaceful. Very grateful to have had this experience!Thank you

Wedding weekend

This house is amazing! The views are fantastic. There are so many beds. I booked this house for our family to stay while we celebrated my daughter’s wedding. From the moment we entered this house I felt calm and relaxed. This house had everything our family could ask for. I enjoyed all my communications with the owner. I would highly recommend staying in this home. It was worth every penny. We will definitely be coming back.

Underrated

The pictures and even the written description DID NOT prepare us for the actual property. In short, our experience was AMAZING.To start the rooms and capacity were much larger than expected. And there was not one thing overlooked by the owners. Everything was extremely clean and neat and very well organized. Also, there were so many unexpected amenities…far too many to list.We enjoyed our extended holiday weekend family visit immensely!

Perfect cabin for a getaway with Friends

I stayed at the Avonlea cottage with my VT friends while we visited for Homecoming, it was an unforgettable experience. This luxury cabin is stunning, with spacious rooms and beautifully appointed décor that creates a perfect retreat vibe. The wooden construction and furniture made it feel cozy and high-end all at once. The layout comfortably accommodated our large group, thanks to the generous bedroom options, plenty of beds, and four spacious bathrooms. The massive dining table was ideal for our gatherings, creating a warm and inviting space for shared meals. For entertainment, this place is loaded. We had an amazing time in the downstairs gathering room, enjoying the pool table, air hockey, Foosball, and bar area – everything we needed for our evenings. Outside, the fire pit is the highlight of this cabin, it was perfect to hang out outside during the cold nights. Location-wise, we loved the secluded feel and forest surroundings, but it was also convenient to reach nearby towns like Pulaski and Radford for quick outings. I highly recommend Avonlea Cottage for groups or families looking for a perfect mix of luxury, comfort, and nature. Whether for a reunion or a relaxing getaway, it’s a place you’ll want to come back to!

Perfect Retreat

The owner of this property clearly understands how to make you feel at home with family. This home can easily sleep extended family and friends too, and in every room there was thoughtful treats, bottles of water, etc. With all the amenities, there is something to enjoy by everyone. Easy for memories to be had here and we can’t wait to return.

Avonlea is among the finest properties we have ever rented

Great House with Amazing views

We recently stayed over the long weekend. Our family group included multigenerational members from college age to two year old. The house has a perfect set-up for small children (lots of toys and books) The game room is a perfect set up for large family gathering and game nights. Everything was labeled in the kitchen and had many different appliances for ease of cooking. The host, Rita, was thoughtful in providing welcome goodies and was very quick to respond to any question we had. The only aspect that proved to be difficult was the “walk” down to the water. Once we realized you could drive a car down the side road, it made it more convenient. The kayaks and tubes were a big hit, unfortunately you could not rent a boat at that location. It is a beautiful home and we had a wonderful weekend.

Absolutely Perfect

Wow! I'm not sure where to begin. This property is stunning and the house is immaculate. The owner has thought of everything! The pictures do not do the house or the view justice in the slightest. We had a blast down by the water during the day floating, paddling, and playing volleyball. Would stay here again without hesitation!

Avonlea Rocks!

Our second visit to Avonlea in Hiwassee. Love the location,privacy, and the amenities. The cottage feels like home. Weather was perfect Kayaking,fishing,volleyball, swimming or just lounging. Everything you need for a week’s vacation with family and friends Just bring your food and beverages. Rita,(Host) ,was magnificent. House was pristine and spotless , and with everything you need from grilling to gourmet meals (our niece is a professional chef) so it was a 5 star resort stay. Fantastic getaway

This house was perfect!! We had 3 families including 6 kids and we all had a great time here. It is a trek down to the lake, very steep road, but you can drive people and stuff down and back if needed. The floating dock was a favorite for the kids and we all enjoyed the kayaks and SUP’s. The fire pit was fun for a night and the views were outstanding. The hosts have this house very well stocked with many things, which is great since it is a bit of a treck down a gravel road to get to any stores. I would definitely stay here again and for as many nights as possible, just loved it!
